DESCRIPTION:This new temporary exhibition within EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum asks how the millions of Irish people in England have fared over the past 200 years. Based on landmark economic history research using new big data analysis\, it tracks the wealth\, health\, and living standards of Irish migrants and families of Irish descent\, showing that the Irish were substantially poorer than their English neighbours for generations. \nNo Irish Need Apply? highlights the extraordinary contribution Irish women and men have made to the English economy and wider society through their hard work\, vibrant culture\, and political activism. The exhibition also includes the words and music of Irish migrants in England captured in Philip Donnellan’s 1965 film “The Irishmen”\, in collaboration with the Irish Film Institute. \nThe exhibition has been developed by the Department of Economic History at the London School of Economics & Political Science from research by Professor Neil Cummins and Professor Cormac Ó Gráda (UCD). It has been curated by Dr Christoper Kissane\, Engagement & Impact Lead\, LSE Dept of Economic History.

Formed in 2012 across a kitchen table in their native Bristol\, they bonded over a passion for traditional maritime folk music\, interwoven with a wry humour\, a taste for all things digital. and a flair for their own songwriting – ancient meets modern down by the docks.The Longest Johns have now announced a headline Academy\, Dublin show for Friday\, 8th May 2026. \nTickets from €29.00 (inc booking fee & venue facility fee) from Ticketmaster.ie on. Bookings subject to 12.5% service charge per ticket (max €10.50) \nConstant gigging over land and sea\, coupled with a rare command of social media and a string of quality releases saw them build a devoted fanbase at home and abroad. Their breakout moment came in 2021\, when their rendition of ‘Wellerman’ went viral on TikTok\, sparking the ‘Shanty Tok’ craze that became a global resurgence in sea shanty music and saw the band sign to Decca Records. \nThis year\, they have released their tenth album to round up the Pieces of Eight project – an EP a month for eight months culminating in the 24-track compilation. In the next 12 months they’ll continue to take folk music back to its roots by many routes\, playing more than 100 shows across the UK\, Europe\, North America and Australia. \nTheir love of heritage and tradition runs deep – in 2024 they released the fan-funded album Voyage with its companion book of original short stories\, artwork and lyrics. SUMMARY:Formal and Wild Landscapes by Fergus Martin
DESCRIPTION:Curated by Dr. Margarita Cappock \nAbout the exhibition\n‘Formal and Wild  Landscapes’ by Fergus Martin can be described as an exhibition of illusions and dreams.  It incorporates sculpture\, animation\, photographic prints and sound projections that connect at an emotional and subliminal level. \nEvery aspect of the exhibition\, from its commencement in the cube space to the culmination in the upper gallery\, provides the viewer with an invisible kinetic experience as the art works ‘ping’ against each other and relate sequentially to what the viewer will encounter next.   The animation has as its starting point an idea the artist had for a sculpture in a landscape and has taken on another life in the virtual world – a fantastical version of a pastoral scene. \nMartin notes\, ‘It was sparked by my always seeing hay bales from trains. They always seem mysterious to me scattered over the landscape and make me think of how leprechauns fooled people who wanted their gold by placing rocks or hawthorn trees everywhere.  These hay bales appear to have landed from space and sit there day and night in every season.’ Some of the works in this exhibition have featured in a recent exhibition at the magnificent early eighteenth-century Palazzo Birago in Turin in 2025.    Visitors now can view these works from an entirely different perspective here in the contemporary setting of the Lab gallery in Dublin. \nAbout the artist\nFergus Martin is an Irish painter\, sculptor and photographer\, known for his post-minimlaist aesthetic.  His most recent solo exhibitions were Space – New Prints – at Green On Red Gallery \, Dublin and Formal and Wild  – Landscapes at Palazzo Birago\, Turin\, Italy\, in Dublin.  Also in 2025\, he took part in the group exhibitions CAIM at Slane Castle\, curated by Jenn Ellis and Matilda Liu\, and Factory Made at Green On Red Gallery\, Dublin. \nIn 2020 Martin’s sculpture\, Oak\, was installed at the International Criminal Court in The Hague\, a gift from the Irish Government to the court; a new permanent sculpture\, Barrel was installed in the grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art\, Dublin.  Also in 2020\, his large-scale photograph\,Chair\, was purchased by the National Gallery of Ireland. \nMartin is a member of Aosdana and is represented by Green On Red Gallery\, Dublin. \n

SUMMARY:Kathy Prendergast: Stasis Field | Dublin by Dusk
DESCRIPTION:Kerlin Gallery is pleased to present Stasis Field\, an exhibition of sculpture\, work on paper and installation by Kathy Prendergast. \n  \n\n\n\n\nStasis Field features a selection of sculpture\, work on paper and installation\, offering an intimate experience that intertwines memory\, transformation\, and the passage of time. Prendergast uses an array of textile\, chalk\, stone\, fabric\, wool and found objects to create art that resonates on both personal and universal levels. \nSince the beginning of her career\, maps have been a core element of Prendergast’s practice. Reimagining maps through artistic intervention\, Prendergast subverts historic symbols of power\, identity and exploration\, creating works that reflect more personal and emotional narratives. Included in Stasis Field are hand-coloured works which invite viewers to reflect on human connections to land\, borders\, and the histories they carry. Pigmented chalk\, gouache and watercolour create a saturated geological installation\, merging hand sculpted objects with collected cartography. In Stasis unites the physical and emotional\, featuring a collection of colourful hand-painted volcanic maps\, creating a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation of the peaks Chimbarazo to Mount Kenya. Through colour\, the static arial views radiate an energetic sense of movement. In Comet\, rust coloured string radiates from an encased roll of fabric and wool. A carefully placed pattern of stones sit on the webbed string\, some like small anchors\, others seemingly guiding the material further. Elsewhere against the gallery wall\, a painted red branch stretches three metres high\, coupled with a vibrant painted arial of Cotopaxi\, Ecudaor.

DESCRIPTION:William Blake\, a visionary artist and poet\, was a defining force in Romanticism. His imaginative and unconventional works continue to inspire today. This exhibition\, curated by Tate in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland\, presents a selection of Blake’s most iconic works of art\, alongside paintings and drawings by his contemporaries. \nBlake’s world was one of fantasy\, imagination\, and the ancient past\, filled with fantastical creatures and visions of the underworld\, expressed through a wide variety of media. By placing him in context – among the artists he admired and those he inspired – the exhibition offers insight into an era of extraordinary originality and innovation in late-eighteenth and early nineteenth-century art. Featuring over 100 works\, including by James Barry (1741–1806)\, Henry Fuseli (1741–1825)\, John Hamilton Mortimer (1740–1779)\, Thomas Rowlandson (1757–1827)\, and J.M.W. DESCRIPTION:Guides from the James Joyce Centre take you through Dublin\, exploring the history of the city and the various locations described by Ireland’s greatest writer\, James Joyce.\n\nThough Joyce lived most of his life outside of Ireland\, Dublin would provide the backdrop for virtually all of his work. On a stroll around the inner city\, our guide will explain the real-life inspiration behind some of Joyce’s most celebrated writing\, demonstrating just how central the streetscape of the ‘Hibernian metropolis’ was to the author’s life and art. The tour visits such stops as Belvedere College\, the Gresham Hotel\, the James Joyce Statue\, Davy Byrnes\, and the National Library.\n\nThis is an excellent and fun introduction to Joyce in a bustling part of the city.\n\nThe James Joyce Centre offers two tours: Introducing Joyce’s Dublin and Footsteps of Leopold Bloom.\n\nEvery Thursday\, Friday & Saturday at 11 am. DESCRIPTION:Tonight Alive formed in 2008\, emerging as a powerful force in Sydney’s alternative scene and quickly earning a reputation as one of Australia’s most trailblazing femme-led bands. Rising from the underground with grit and vision\, the band built a global following throughout the 2010s\, releasing three albums via Sony Music and Fearless Records\, followed by a fourth with Hopeless Records and UNFD. \nHoned by relentless international touring\, Tonight Alive shared stages with scene heavyweights including All Time Low and Pierce the Veil\, and appeared at iconic festivals such as Vans Warped Tour\, Reading & Leeds\, and the inaugural Good Things Festival in 2018. Renowned for their cathartic\, high-energy live shows\, the band is fronted by Jenna McDougall\, whose voice and message resonated deeply with a generation of outcasts and seekers. \nDrawing influence from the golden era of early-2000s pop punk\, the band’s evolution has included collaborations with their heroes: Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) on Thank You and Goodnight\, Benji Madden (Good Charlotte) on Breakdown\, and Corey Taylor (Slipknot) on My Underworld. Their music has also featured on major platforms including The Amazing Spider-Man 2 soundtrack (The Edge) and Guitar Hero Live (The Ocean)\, further cementing their cultural impact. \nCelebrated for their unwavering commitment to authenticity\, Tonight Alive have built a legacy defined not just by sound\, but by spirit. Following a four-year hiatus\, the band returned in 2024 with comeback appearances at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas and two sold-out hometown shows. DESCRIPTION:Pôt-pot are an Irish quintet based in Lisbon\, Portugal. The band infuse the propulsive rhythms of krautrock with a phosphorescent psych-rock radiance\, all underscored by harmonium drones\, hypnotic vocal harmonies\, and layers of rough-hewn texture. They deal in deep grooves and cooking listeners to completion. \nThey released their debut EP Ode To A in 2023\, earning it a spot on The Thin Air’s “Best of 2023” list. “Ode To A succeeds not just in the artistic practice of the avant-garde\, but as piece of an engaging\, genuinely psychedelic experimental drone rock” – Stevie Lennox\, The Thin Air. In April 2024\, they released their second EP “GOING INSANE” on cult Porto based label Socorro\, with a limited vinyl run via Ireland’s beloved Blowtorch Records\, receiving much critical acclaim. \n2024-2025 has been a busy period for pôt-pot\, selling out shows across Ireland\, UK and Portugal as well as support slots with MELTS (Fuz Club) and a series of sold-out shows in Vicar St.\, Dublin with The Mary Wallopers. In mid 2025\, the band signed with LA-based Felte Records\, with whom they’ll release their debut album “Warsaw 480km” in September 2025. \nEvolved primarily from demos by multi-instrumentalist and lead vocalist Mark Waldron-Hyden during a period of grief and personal upheaval\, “Warsaw 480km” came to life through a series of live\, full-band studio sessions that document an exceptional array of talents\, unified in an embrace of raw catharsis that transforms deep pain into a luminous reverie
