DESCRIPTION:Common Ground: Ireland and the EU is a new multimedia exhibition exploring how Ireland’s membership of the European Union has shaped the country socially\, culturally and economically over the past few decades. The exhibition also looks at the impact Ireland has had across Europe\, telling stories of migration\, opportunity\, equality\, education and cultural exchange through immersive displays and personal stories. \n  \n\n\nIreland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) – as the EU was then known – on January 1\, 1973\, after a referendum endorsed by 83% of voters. It was then among the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in western Europe\, with a population just over half of its current size. \nIreland’s accession proved to be the most consequential economic milestone in the half century since Irish independence\, but it also set in motion far-reaching social and cultural change. EU legislation has driven improvements in workers’ rights\, for example\, and set binding targets for climate action. Irish people have studied and built new lives across Europe\, while many Europeans have since made their homes here in Ireland. \nAs Ireland assumes the EU presidency in 2026\, this new multimedia exhibition explores how a small island nation has extended its influence across Europe\, and how Europe\, in turn\, has profoundly shaped modern Ireland. \nFeatured Stories:\nEqual Pay \nStudying Abroad \nAn Ghaeilge \nEntry to this exhibition is included in general admission tickets.

She rose to critical acclaim from her debut album First Prize Bravery\, which was an evocative depiction of young adulthood\, a time during which she ventured from home in Dublin to New York\, Los Angeles and back again. Her follow up album Smiling Like an Idiot cemented her status as one of Ireland’s most revered songwriters and saw her tour North America\, Europe and Australia\, both as a headliner and as a special guest for artists such as Snow Patrol\, Mitski and Dermot Kennedy. \nShe returns this September 2026 with her third album\, Draw The Outline. Made after relocating to West Kerry\, it’s her most intimate and reflective record to date – trading synth-led textures for acoustic guitar\, woodwinds\, saxophone\, Hammond organ and piano\, and turning her gaze inward. \nBrigid Mae Power (27th August)\n \nBrigid Mae Power’s music never quite settles on solid ground. The Irish singer-songwriter sits between past and present\, between traditional and modern forms\, between the heaven in her voice and the earthbound epiphanies of her words. There’s something distinctively Irish in her sound\, delivered with a freshness and emotional rawness that feels entirely her own. \nShe’s released three albums to date\, including her acclaimed 2022 record Head Above the Water\, which was Rough Trade’s Album of the Month and earned praise from Pitchfork\, Mojo\, Uncut\, The Guardian and The Irish Times. Her albums blend traditional folk and country into something that feels both personal and wide-reaching. \nHer most recent record\, Songs for You\, is a heartfelt collection of covers dedicated to her father\, reworking songs by Roy Orbison\, Tom Verlaine\, Neil Young and Cass McCombs into something minimal\, intimate and entirely her own. \nEfé (24th September)\n \nEFÉ is an Irish artist hailing from Dublin. EFÉ released her debut EP What Should We Do This Summer in October 2020 which was recorded in her bedroom with the help of her friends. Her music is a sunny slice of bedroom pop\, evoking images of blue skies on a summer’s day using shimmering synth pads and funky\, modulated guitar tones. EFÉ sets herself apart from other artists with the unique and playful groove that provides the grounding for her DIY style\, and definitely marks her as one to watch from the emerging Irish scene. Her music is effortlessly nostalgic\, pulling on indie-tinged memories of the late 1990s and early 2000s. \nAfter signing to US label Fader; home to artists such as Clairo – she leaned further into her rock influences for her most recent single releases in 2024\, Truth Truth\, 2000Seven and you say that I’m crazy\, lo-fi indie tracks that make space for guitars to soar. As she puts it\, “In earlier projects I was scared to go full force with the rock sound\, but this year I thought\, let me just do it.” \nSaoirse Miller (29th October)\n \nSaoirse Miller is a Dublin-based singer-songwriter and producer whose music is rooted in Irish folklore and mythology and a lifelong fascination with the otherworldly. Her sound – spanning experimental folk\, ambient textures and ethereal vocal production – is less about genre and more about world-building\, creating somewhere else entirely to disappear into. \nInfluenced by Florence and the Machine\, Grouper\, Lisa O’Neill and the poetry of W.B. Yeats\, Saoirse writes songs that transform personal feeling into something mythic. Her connection to place runs deep – her grandparents are from Mizen Head in West Cork\, and it’s a landscape she returns to again and again\, in her music as much as in life. \nHer debut EP\, Birds\, was written and produced entirely by Saoirse herself\, with each track designed to blend and interlude into the next as one continuous body of work. Mixed and mastered to tape by Karl Barnes\, Birds channels Irish traditional music and folklore through an electroacoustic lens\, resulting in a sound that feels both faded and familiar. \nAbout Laura Twagirayezu\nRwandan-born and Dublin-based\, Laura is a curator\, DJ and cultural connector whose work consistently brings depth and warmth to questions of music\, identity and community. Her sets are genre-spanning by design\, moving fluidly between afrobeat\, techno and dubstep\, with a strong undercurrent of retro and psychedelic sound that gives her selections a relatability for all. A 300-year-old story that claims to make its protagonist\, Mirandolina\, an example of the “barbaric cruelty” and “insulting contempt” of women who mock men’s love\, the effect of La Locandiera is in fact a sincere exaltation of female intelligence.  \nIn this exciting adaptation written by Abbey Theatre Associate Artist Marina Carr and directed by Caitríona McLaughlin\, Mirandolina examines the life of a lost young woman and the admirers and predators who surround her.   \nThis is a play about fear\, female fear\, and the price extracted from these lost girls who dare to fight back – a story finding fresh and unprecedented connections with the present. \nMirandolina is performed in Italian with English surtitles.  \nMirandolina is a world premiere co-production by the Abbey Theatre\, Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale and Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka – HNK Rijeka which celebrates the Milan-Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad.  \nIt premieres in Treviso\, Italy\, in February 2026 and tours to Belluno\, Venice\, Padua\, Verona\, Rijeka\, and Milan; before coming to the Abbey Stage in August 2026.  \nFunded as part of the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport EU Presidency Culture Programme.

DESCRIPTION:Hen’s Teeth is delighted to announce the launch of Sent Off\,  a limited two day exhibition depicting Roy Keane’s red cards by Seánie Harte at their Blackpitts space\, on the 3rd and 4th September. \nThe show brings together 16 original oil pastel works (16\, for the number Keane’s jersey) exploring one of Irish football’s most talked-about moments in Keane’s career: the red cards picked up during his time playing for both Manchester United and Ireland. \n \nWorking with oil pastel on both wood panel and paper – Harte builds each piece from an initial sketch through to the finished work. The exhibition includes multiple pieces built around single moments\, including a group of works centred on Keane’s tackle on Alf-Inge Håland\, alongside earlier and more recent additions to the series\, some of which have never been shown publicly before. \nSent Off is Seánie’s first solo exhibition and in his words: \n“Football already means so much to people\, so hopefully this exhibition can act as a gateway to art for supporters who might not normally visit an art exhibition. I’d love to see more football and art crossing over in Ireland\, and if this helps in some small way\, that would be brilliant.” \nAll works in the exhibition are original\, framed pieces available for purchase throughout its run at Hen’s Teeth. DESCRIPTION:Qween and Dublin Gospel Choir have announced a Dublin show at 3Olympia Theatre on Friday 4th September 2026. \n  \n\n\nFormed in 2018 by a group of seasoned performers\, Qween is an Irish tribute band dedicated to meticulously recreating the theatrical magic and “essence” of a classic Queen concert through microscopic detail\, using everything from period-correct sixpences as guitar picks to iconic custom costumes. \nTheir rapid rise in popularity saw them selling out major venues across Ireland and making history in 2023 as the first tribute act to play the main stage at the Forever Young Festival following successful collaborations with artists like Tony Hadley and Mark Shaw. \nBy drafting the Dublin Gospel Choir in 2022\, the band successfully bridged the gap between Queen’s raw live energy and their complex studio arrangements\, culminating in massive landmark performances such as a sold-out show for 3\,000 fans at King John’s Castle. Despite their professional success\, the group faced a significant personal challenge in late 2023 when lead singer Brian Keville was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer; however\, the band and the wider community rallied together through viral fundraising efforts supported by various celebrities to aid his recovery and celebrate his life-long passion for performance. \n“I’m grateful that fans and musical friends alike jumped on board. We had the biggest gig of our lives\, and this helped me get fit again\, so it was especially memorable\,” said vocalist Brian Keville. \nHis return to the stage and the band’s story was documented by the RTÉ The Great Pretenders documentary which was has been broadcast several times since its premiere in December 2024. \n “The documentary was great at explaining why musicians do this and showed that can’t really land it with an audience unless you give yourself over entirely to it” adds Brunkard. \n “Bigger stages are a challenge but we’re playing Queen and Queen’s music can engage a festival of 10\,000 or one million and we’ll keep focusing on recreating that power as much as we can” said Brunkard.
