DESCRIPTION:Common Ground: Ireland and the EU is a new multimedia exhibition exploring how Ireland’s membership of the European Union has shaped the country socially\, culturally and economically over the past few decades. The exhibition also looks at the impact Ireland has had across Europe\, telling stories of migration\, opportunity\, equality\, education and cultural exchange through immersive displays and personal stories. \n  \n\n\nIreland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) – as the EU was then known – on January 1\, 1973\, after a referendum endorsed by 83% of voters. It was then among the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in western Europe\, with a population just over half of its current size. \nIreland’s accession proved to be the most consequential economic milestone in the half century since Irish independence\, but it also set in motion far-reaching social and cultural change. EU legislation has driven improvements in workers’ rights\, for example\, and set binding targets for climate action. Irish people have studied and built new lives across Europe\, while many Europeans have since made their homes here in Ireland. \nAs Ireland assumes the EU presidency in 2026\, this new multimedia exhibition explores how a small island nation has extended its influence across Europe\, and how Europe\, in turn\, has profoundly shaped modern Ireland. \nFeatured Stories:\nEqual Pay \nStudying Abroad \nAn Ghaeilge \nEntry to this exhibition is included in general admission tickets.

She rose to critical acclaim from her debut album First Prize Bravery\, which was an evocative depiction of young adulthood\, a time during which she ventured from home in Dublin to New York\, Los Angeles and back again. Her follow up album Smiling Like an Idiot cemented her status as one of Ireland’s most revered songwriters and saw her tour North America\, Europe and Australia\, both as a headliner and as a special guest for artists such as Snow Patrol\, Mitski and Dermot Kennedy. \nShe returns this September 2026 with her third album\, Draw The Outline. Made after relocating to West Kerry\, it’s her most intimate and reflective record to date – trading synth-led textures for acoustic guitar\, woodwinds\, saxophone\, Hammond organ and piano\, and turning her gaze inward. \nBrigid Mae Power (27th August)\n \nBrigid Mae Power’s music never quite settles on solid ground. The Irish singer-songwriter sits between past and present\, between traditional and modern forms\, between the heaven in her voice and the earthbound epiphanies of her words. There’s something distinctively Irish in her sound\, delivered with a freshness and emotional rawness that feels entirely her own. \nShe’s released three albums to date\, including her acclaimed 2022 record Head Above the Water\, which was Rough Trade’s Album of the Month and earned praise from Pitchfork\, Mojo\, Uncut\, The Guardian and The Irish Times. Her albums blend traditional folk and country into something that feels both personal and wide-reaching. \nHer most recent record\, Songs for You\, is a heartfelt collection of covers dedicated to her father\, reworking songs by Roy Orbison\, Tom Verlaine\, Neil Young and Cass McCombs into something minimal\, intimate and entirely her own. \nEfé (24th September)\n \nEFÉ is an Irish artist hailing from Dublin. EFÉ released her debut EP What Should We Do This Summer in October 2020 which was recorded in her bedroom with the help of her friends. Her music is a sunny slice of bedroom pop\, evoking images of blue skies on a summer’s day using shimmering synth pads and funky\, modulated guitar tones. EFÉ sets herself apart from other artists with the unique and playful groove that provides the grounding for her DIY style\, and definitely marks her as one to watch from the emerging Irish scene. Structured around a fictional therapist known as Dr. Gusto\, the record explores identity\, ego\, anxiety and self-liberation through a series of surreal therapy sessions. DESCRIPTION:Sarah Julia’s music is an exercise in tenderness\, bound by sisterhood and defined by a haunting\, piercing vulnerability. Their deeply introspective brand of indie folk is forged from a shared childhood: the product of overlapping memories and a communal formative soundtrack that presents itself in the pure vocals that cradle each other in harmony as they delicately address love\, heartache and family. \nFrom a young age\, they developed a shared love of music – trading album recommendations for the likes of Bon Iver and Ben Howard to expand on the Cat Stevens and Jim Croce their parents raised them on – before they individually began dabbling in making music themselves. \nBut it wasn’t until a significant change in their family occurred that they began intertwining those efforts\, seeking a shared catharsis in songwriting. \nWhat emerged was their debut EP How Do We Go Back To Being Normal? – an audible snapshot of a period of their lives enveloped in grief and change. Interwoven with confessional\, diaristic lyricism and elegiac harmonies\, their mystical take on folk quickly garnered them a cult following. \nHow Do We Go Back To Being Normal?’s follow-up Only Making It Worse\, released in 2025\, builds on these golden foundations. Somehow richer and more devastating than its predecessor\, their second EP sees them delve into a slightly poppier soundscape while affirming their entry into a canon of female singer-storytellers spinning gold from the ordinary fabric of everyday life\, recalling elements of Phoebe Bridgers\, Adrienne Lenker and Joni Mitchell.
