SUMMARY:An Evening with Theo Dorgan on Camarade
DESCRIPTION:This event offers an opportunity to hear Theo Dorgan discuss the themes\, characters and inspirations behind Camarade\, as well as his wider body of work. Through conversation and audience questions\, the evening will explore themes of friendship\, memory\, exile and political idealism\, reflecting on lives shaped by movement\, solidarity and the passage of time. Closely aligned with EPIC’s exploration of the Irish diaspora\, the discussion will consider how personal and collective histories intersect across borders\, before concluding with a book signing. \nTicket holders should arrive about 10 minutes before 5:30pm at the Visitor Information desk within CHQ. There they will be escorted to the event’s location. We would ask that you arrive no later than 5:35pm\, as it’s imperative these events begin on time to ensure the best experience for the author and for our visitors. \nAbout the Book\nCamarade is a philosophical thriller of striking depth\, following an Irishman living in Paris as he reflects on a single violent act that forced him to flee Ireland forty years earlier. Encouraged to write his life story\, Joseph embarks on a process of self-examination that reveals a life shaped by exile\, memory and moral uncertainty.\nMoving between Paris and Cork\, and between past and present\, the novel explores themes of violence\, identity and the enduring impact of our choices. As Joseph confronts the defining question of his life\, Camarade becomes both an intimate character study and a meditation on history\, self-awareness and the nature of who we become. \nAbout the Author\n\nBorn in Cork\, Theo Dorgan is one of Ireland’s most celebrated poets and writers. He has published numerous collections of poetry as well as prose\, and has long been associated with Ireland’s literary and cultural life. \nIn addition to his writing\, Dorgan has worked as a documentary screenwriter and broadcaster\, contributing significantly to Irish arts and media. His work is known for its lyricism\, political awareness and deep engagement with themes of place\, identity and human connection. \n\nEndorsements of Camarade\n“Moving with the tension of a thriller while exploring profound philosophical questions\, Camarade confirms Theo Dorgan’s place as one of our most thoughtful and elegant literary voices.” – Mercier Press \n“Theo Dorgan is one of the finest poets now writing in English.” – John Banville

SUMMARY:Sent Off by Seánie Harte An Exhibition of Roy Keane’s Red Cards at Hen’s Teeth
DESCRIPTION:Hen’s Teeth is delighted to announce the launch of Sent Off\,  a limited two day exhibition depicting Roy Keane’s red cards by Seánie Harte at their Blackpitts space\, on the 3rd and 4th September. \nThe show brings together 16 original oil pastel works (16\, for the number Keane’s jersey) exploring one of Irish football’s most talked-about moments in Keane’s career: the red cards picked up during his time playing for both Manchester United and Ireland. \n \nWorking with oil pastel on both wood panel and paper – Harte builds each piece from an initial sketch through to the finished work. The exhibition includes multiple pieces built around single moments\, including a group of works centred on Keane’s tackle on Alf-Inge Håland\, alongside earlier and more recent additions to the series\, some of which have never been shown publicly before. \nSent Off is Seánie’s first solo exhibition and in his words: \n“Football already means so much to people\, so hopefully this exhibition can act as a gateway to art for supporters who might not normally visit an art exhibition. I’d love to see more football and art crossing over in Ireland\, and if this helps in some small way\, that would be brilliant.” \nAll works in the exhibition are original\, framed pieces available for purchase throughout its run at Hen’s Teeth. After the show closes\, remaining works can be purchased directly through Seánie Harte. \nExhibition details\n\nDuration: \n6pm-11pm\, 3rd September\n8am – 3pm\, 4th September \nDoors from 6pm – 11pm \nWhere:  \nHen’s Teeth\, Blackpitts\, Dublin 8\, D08A9FD \nWhat: \n16 original works\, oil pastel on wood panel and paper \nPrices:  \nRanging from approx. €500–€750\, including frames by Sumi Studio \n\nAbout the Seánie Harte\nSeánie Harte is a Dublin-based artist working primarily in oil pastel. Inspired by football\, Irish popular culture and sporting nostalgia\, his work captures the moments and memories that continue to resonate long after the final whistle has blown. \n \nAbout Hen’s Teeth\nHen’s Teeth creates contemporary cultural experiences from Blackpitts in Dublin 8. The crew has got a love for art\, music\, food and culture and the space where they all come together – whether that’s through their own gallery & event space or for some of the interesting folks and brands that they collaborate with across the world. Previous art events include Fatti Burke’s The Snug\, Laura Callaghan’s Apocalypse Chow\, Hattie Stewart’s Lazy Days\, Black Girl Magic with Honey Dijon & Marina Esmeraldo\, Goalissimo and Ruan Van Vliet’s Exhibition for Dogs. They also run Good Shout\, an independent creative studio that collaborates in art and culture with good folks around the world. \nFor more information\, please see Sent Off | Seánie Harte – Paintings of Every Roy Keane Red Card — Hen’s Teeth

SUMMARY:James Joyce Centre Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Guides from the James Joyce Centre take you through Dublin\, exploring the history of the city and the various locations described by Ireland’s greatest writer\, James Joyce.\n\nThough Joyce lived most of his life outside of Ireland\, Dublin would provide the backdrop for virtually all of his work. On a stroll around the inner city\, our guide will explain the real-life inspiration behind some of Joyce’s most celebrated writing\, demonstrating just how central the streetscape of the ‘Hibernian metropolis’ was to the author’s life and art. The tour visits such stops as Belvedere College\, the Gresham Hotel\, the James Joyce Statue\, Davy Byrnes\, and the National Library.\n\nThis is an excellent and fun introduction to Joyce in a bustling part of the city.\n\nThe James Joyce Centre offers two tours: Introducing Joyce’s Dublin and Footsteps of Leopold Bloom.\n\nEvery Thursday\, Friday & Saturday at 11 am. Duration 2 hours.\n\nAdmission to the James Joyce Centre is included. \nThe James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.
