SUMMARY:James Joyce Centre Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Guides from the James Joyce Centre take you through Dublin\, exploring the history of the city and the various locations described by Ireland’s greatest writer\, James Joyce.\n\nThough Joyce lived most of his life outside of Ireland\, Dublin would provide the backdrop for virtually all of his work. Duration 2 hours.\n\nAdmission to the James Joyce Centre is included. \nThe James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.

SUMMARY:Éire to Everywhere: Stories Without Borders with Isadore Ryan
DESCRIPTION:This event offers an opportunity to hear Isadore Ryan discuss the themes\, stories and inspirations behind Irish Paris\, as well as the rich histories that connect Ireland and France. Through conversation and audience questions\, the evening will explore themes of emigration\, identity and cultural exchange\, reflecting on how Irish people have shaped and been shaped by life abroad. Closely aligned with EPIC’s exploration of the Irish diaspora\, the discussion will bring to life the vibrant and often unexpected experiences of Irish emigrants in Paris across the centuries\, before concluding with a book signing. \nTicket holders should arrive about 10 minutes before 5:30pm at the Visitor Information desk within chq. There they will be escorted to the event’s location. We would ask that you arrive no later than 5:35pm\, as it’s imperative these events begin on time to ensure the best experience for the author and for our visitors. \nAbout the Book\nIrish Paris brings the vibrant history of the Irish in the French capital to life through nearly ninety captivating portraits. From Saint Fiacre to Charles Haughey\, and from seventeenth-century vagrants to Oscar Wilde\, this book reveals the fascinating – and sometimes unexpected – ways Irish expats have shaped and been shaped by Paris\, from the seventh century to today. \nAbout the Author\n\nBorn in Dublin\, Isadore Ryan has lived outside Ireland for several decades\, largely in Paris\, but also in cities such as Frankfurt\, Milan\, Trieste\, Geneva and San Francisco\, building a career as a financial journalist and editor. \nIsadore has published three books on the Irish in Europe: ‘No Way Out—The Irish in Wartime France’\, ‘Roman Imbroglio—Italy and the Irish During World War Two’ and ‘Irish Paris—stories of famous and infamous Irish people in Paris through the centuries’. The most recent of the numerous articles he has penned\, ‘Fool of Fortune: Stanislaus Joyce’s wartime travails’\, appeared in the May/June 2026 edition of History Ireland. \nIsadore has also produced a YouTube series called ‘Forgotten Irish in Europe’ (www.youtube.com/@ForgottenIrishinEurope) and is currently completing a book on the same theme. \n\nEndorsements of Irish Paris\n“What is it they say about Paris—city of dreams\, city of lights\, city of love? It has been all these things and more to the hordes of Irish soldiers\, nobles\, priests\, writers and vagabonds who came and went over the centuries (..) Now a Paris-based writer\, Isadore Ryan\, has chronicle the stories of Irish people who left their mark on the city\, from the fleeting visit of bank robber ‘Chicago May’ Duignan from Longford\, to the writer Samuel Beckett and Margaret Kelly\, the founder of the Bluebill Girls dance troupe.” – Liam Collins\, Sunday Independent

The tour visits such stops as Belvedere College\, the Gresham Hotel\, the James Joyce Statue\, Davy Byrnes\, and the National Library.\n\nThis is an excellent and fun introduction to Joyce in a bustling part of the city.\n\nThe James Joyce Centre offers two tours: Introducing Joyce’s Dublin and Footsteps of Leopold Bloom.\n\nEvery Thursday\, Friday & Saturday at 11 am. Duration 2 hours.\n\nAdmission to the James Joyce Centre is included. \nThe James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.

SUMMARY:Éire to Everywhere: Stories Without Borders with Katriona O’Sullivan
DESCRIPTION:Éire to Everywhere is delighted to welcome the wonderful Katriona O’Sullivan\, who many will know from her gritty and powerful memoir Poor\, recently staged as a play. She joins us at EPIC to discuss her new book Hungry\, another biography\, this time focusing on the topic of body positivity and how she has struggled with this despite academic and professional accolades. \nAbout the Book\nKatriona O’Sullivan has come a long way from the poverty\, chaos and abuse she knew growing up. A respected academic and bestselling author\, she defied every expectation placed on the teenage mother she once was. \nYet even as the accolades arrived\, old beliefs held fast. No degree\, no award\, no recognition could silence the sense that she was only worthy when her body looked the way society said it should. \nIn this fierce and fearless memoir\, Katriona pulls back the curtain on her journey: the relentless comparison to the curated bodies of strangers on the internet\, the dangerous weight-loss treatments\, the attempts to reshape herself into an impossible ideal – and how she slowly learned to accept and love herself. \nHungry is an unforgettable examination of how gender\, class and trauma shape a woman’s sense of worth. It is one woman’s story – and a rallying cry for every woman who has ever felt she had to shrink to survive. \nAbout the Author\n\nDr Katriona O’Sullivan is a professor of psychology and the bestselling r Bio author of Poor\, winner of Biography of the Year and Newcomer of the Year at the Irish Book Awards. The memoir has been translated into seven languages\, adapted into a sold-out play at Dublin’s Gate Theatre\, and remained in Ireland’s top-ten nonfiction chart for two years. A regular commentator on the BBC and across Irish and international media\, she has spoken at Westminster\, the UN and UNESCO. \n\nBorn in Coventry to Irish parents\, her early life was marked by poverty\, addiction\, teenage pregnancy and homelessness. In 1998\, she moved to Dublin\, where she entered Trinity College through the access programme and went on to earn a PhD in psychology. Now a professor at Maynooth University\, she directs the National Centre for Inclusive Higher Education and leads the award-winning STEM Passport for Inclusion\, which has supported over 10\,000 young people from underserved communities into higher education and high-status careers. \nEndorsements of Hungry\n“Raw and remarkable” – The Irish Independent \n“As profound and honest as anything I have ever read” – Liz Nugent \n“Soaring with compassion\, intelligence and hard-won wisdom” – Louise Kennedy \nEndorsements of Poor\n“O’Sullivan’s redemptive arc has had to break through the systemic discrimination” – RTÉ Bookclub \n“Grit\, courage\, and the life-changing value of self-belief” – Irish Central
