SUMMARY:William Blake: The age of Romantic Fantasy | Dublin by Dusk
DESCRIPTION:William Blake\, a visionary artist and poet\, was a defining force in Romanticism. His imaginative and unconventional works continue to inspire today. This exhibition\, curated by Tate in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland\, presents a selection of Blake’s most iconic works of art\, alongside paintings and drawings by his contemporaries. \nBlake’s world was one of fantasy\, imagination\, and the ancient past\, filled with fantastical creatures and visions of the underworld\, expressed through a wide variety of media. By placing him in context – among the artists he admired and those he inspired – the exhibition offers insight into an era of extraordinary originality and innovation in late-eighteenth and early nineteenth-century art. Featuring over 100 works\, including by James Barry (1741–1806)\, Henry Fuseli (1741–1825)\, John Hamilton Mortimer (1740–1779)\, Thomas Rowlandson (1757–1827)\, and J.M.W. Turner (1775–1851)\, the show explores how artists responded to a time of revolution and transformation\, pushing the boundaries of their art into new imaginative territories. \nOrganised in collaboration with Tate. \nCurated by Anne Hodge\, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Ireland and Alice Insley\, Curator of British Art c. 1730 – 1850 at Tate. \nThis exhibition is supported by The William Blake Giving Circle.  \nThe Gallery would like to thank the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport for their ongoing support.

DESCRIPTION:ANU Productions and The National Archives of Ireland are proud to announce The Good Luck Club\, a new off site theatre production marking the centenary of Ireland’s 1926 Census. Commissioned as part of the National Archives’ year-long commemorative programme to mark the release of the 1926 Census records\, this intimate and immersive experience will be staged within the historic National Archives building on Bishop Street from 27th May 2026 to 14th June 2026 – the first time a theatrical production has ever been mounted in the historical building. \nWritten and directed by Louise Lowe\, with design and scenography by Owen Boss\, The Good Luck Club is a commission by the National Archives and is created specifically for the landmark institution. The production invites audiences to step inside the living fabric of Ireland’s past\, moving through the building in small groups\, exploring rarely accessed spaces and encountering a series of vivid\, human stories drawn from archival records. Blending performance\, participation and historical testimony\, the production illuminates the social landscape of Ireland in 1926 – a nation finding its footing in the early years of independence. \nThe production features an ensemble cast including Ghaliah Conroy\, John Cronin\, Libby Conway Dunne\, Maeve Fitzgerald\, Oliver Flitcroft\, Jack Hassett\, Pattie Maguire\, Ciara Molloy and Jamie O’Neill. \nTaking direct inspiration from the Irish Hospitals’ Sweepstake – the hugely popular lottery initiative that captured the public’s imagination in the early 20th century – The Good Luck Club examines themes of chance\, aspiration and survival\, stepping inside the gilded machinery of the infamous Sweepstakes\, where the desperate hope meets the calculations of the new post war Ireland. Through personal stories unearthed from the census and historical records\, the production will meaningfully excavate early 20th Century Ireland and how a country was built on a ticket and a prayer.

DESCRIPTION:SO Fine Art Editions are pleased to present Cut Flowers by Oisín Byrne\, an Irish artist\, writer and filmmaker based in London. This new series of screenprints continues his exploration of scale\, bold colour\, floral form\, gesture and the passing of time\, and will also open at Connolly\, London\, on 1 May 2026. \nMoving fluidly between painting\, film\, performance\, sound and text\, Byrne describes his studio practice as a dialogue between focused\, reflective work and instinctive mark-making\, often exploring the shifting boundaries between conscious thought and intuitive gesture. His studio itself reflects this split: upstairs is used for filming\, editing\, teaching and reading\, while downstairs is for painting and drawing – Byrne describes his process as a movement between states of mind. After sustained periods of research or concentration\, he returns to drawing with urgency\, driven to capture the immediacy of subjects before they shift or disappear.

DESCRIPTION:Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host an exhibition of new paintings by award-winning artist Comhghall Casey. In this much anticipated solo exhibition\, his first in four years\, Casey presents a new body of masterful studies in oil which observe in detail the extraordinary qualities of ordinary items. \n  \nCasey’s intimate and often nostalgic still-lives celebrate objects from everyday life\, ranging from blocks of cheese to beach toys which are singled out and meticulously observed. His compositions are universally simple\, where the object is placed centrally against a neutral background\, amplifying it’s presence and highlighting the artist’s skill and spectacular attention to detail. \n  \nBorn in 1976 Casey grew up in Omagh\, Co Tyrone before moving to Belfast to study fine art at the University of Ulster. In 2000 he moved to Dublin where he has since been living and working. \n  \nCasey has twice appeared on Sky television’s Portrait Artist of the Year competition. His self-portraits were shortlisted for the esteemed BP Portrait Awards in the UK in 2002\, 2013 and 2015 and subsequently hung in the National Portrait Gallery\, London\, the National Scottish Portrait Gallery\, Edinburgh and the Ulster Museum\, Belfast. His portraits have also been shortlisted for the Zurich (formerly Hennessy) Portrait Awards at the National Gallery of Ireland in 2014\, 2017\, 2019\, 2020 & 2023. Casey has exhibited regularly in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London and has received numerous awards at the RHA and RUA Annual Exhibitions including the prestigious Hennessey Craig Scholarship. In 2015 An Post issued an edition of stamps featuring Casey’s toy paintings. In 2017 he was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Ulster Academy. \n  \nCasey’s work features in many notable collections including the National Self Portrait Collection\, The Ulster Museum\, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The Office of Public Works.

From 4pm we invite you to visit our Dwell Here Open Studios where you will meet our Dwell Here residents\, take a stroll along Studio Street to explore residents working and living at IMMA. \nAt 6pm join a very special IMMA Talks event celebrating the career of the internationally renowned artist AA Bronson who will discuss with artist and curator Paul O’Neill collective practice\, artistic self-organisation\, his roles in General Idea\, Art Metropole and Printed Matter\, and their impacts on contemporary art and artist-run culture. \nThis rare discussion with AA Bronson will survey his enduring influence as an artist\, healer\, curator\, educator and ally. From early beginnings in a free school and commune AA Bronson has spent over six decades developing work through collaboration. DESCRIPTION:Discover bojagi\, a traditional Korean wrapping cloth reimagined for modern\, sustainable living as part of the Dublin by Dusk initative.\nRooted in centuries of cultural practice\, bojagi was historically used to wrap and protect objects\, symbolising care and good fortune. Today\, it offers a reusable and environmentally conscious alternative to disposable packaging. \nThis hands-on workshop introduces both the cultural heritage and contemporary applications of bojagi\, guiding participants through a series of practical wrapping techniques using a variety of textiles. You will learn how to adapt these methods for everyday use—from gift presentation to functional carrying. \nPlease bring a wine bottle or similar bottle to wrap during the workshop. Each participant will take home only the Bojagi cloth used to wrap their wine bottle \nBeginning 28th of May\, we are opened until 20:00 on the last Thursday of every month\, as part of “Dublin by Dusk”\, at the National Museum of Ireland\, Collins Barracks and Kildare Street. Feel free to drop in before the event and explore our open galleries. \n  \nThis event is a part of our Crafted Encounters series \nCrafted Encounters is our regular series of thoughtfully designed craft or experiential workshops inspired by the richness of our collections. Curated & hosted by Dublin writer Steve O’Toole. \n\n\n\n\nThe James Joyce Centre and The Write Stuff are delighted to announce our joint collaboration with Dublin by Dusk\, in partnership with the Department of Culture Communications and Sport\, Fáilte Ireland\, Dublin City Council\, and Dublin Town. At each gathering\, storytellers\, and poets\, are joined by showcase musicians\, working to a pre-agreed theme. Thus\, delivering a continuous\, collaborative flow of original work. Please note: This is a very limited ticketed event. \nSteve O’Toole Is a street stalking creative\, poet\, storyteller\, artist\, and the creative force behind The Write Stuff. Not one to sit on the fence\, Steve firmly wears both his heart & mind on his sleeve\, delivering forceful versed commentary by the page full. Originally performing in the mid 90’s as support to Irish writer ‘Pat Ingoldsby’. It was early 2023\, when Steve returned after a far too long hiatus. Since then\, he has gone on to read & perform at The International Literary Festival\, The Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival\, The Bram Stoker Festival\, Culture Nights\, Craicly Stories\, and curate & host The Write Stuff gatherings at Chapters Bookstore. \nTwo Prong – John Fleming and Niall Toner Jr of The Prongs Dubliners John Fleming and Niall Toner Jr have been friends since their teenage years. Fleming is an award-winning radio dramatist who has written half a dozen radio plays broadcast by RTE and BBC\, along with other forms of fiction including the critically acclaimed London migrant novel The Now Now Express. Toner Jr is a renowned musician\, songwriter and soundscape designer who has played and toured in bands since the 1980s such as Those Handsome Devils\, The Dixons\, The Cajun Kings and Strand. This show is a rare opportunity to catch The Prongs in their special\, intimate two-man format (Two-Prong). Away from the bombast of their full six-piece band iteration\, Fleming and Toner will perform a curated menu of their most sharply Dublin-infused work along with readings from The Now Now Express novel from which The Prongs first crawled as fictional entities. Two-Prong promises a Telecaster/microphone/backing film projection performance worthy of the James Joyce-linked North Great Georges Street venue hosting this extraordinary evening with The Write Stuff. Come enter the tuneful and emotive audio/visual world of The Prongs. \nKaycii is an emerging hip hop artist and lyricist from Crumlin\, Dublin\, known for his raw storytelling\, dark imagery and vocal aggression. His music combines introspective lyricism with hard-hitting boom bap influences\, exploring themes of survival\, identity\, trauma\, addiction\, and ambition. Known for his intense delivery and poetic writing style\, his work reflects both the grit of inner-city Dublin and a deep passion for classic hip hop culture. Working on his debut project and side projects\, Kaycii has been in the background perfecting his craft and preparing for release. \nEddie Winston is an emerging artist. He is a soulful\, and inspiring\, singer-songwriter from Ballymun\, Dublin. Following a hard-fought journey to break free from addiction after 25 years. He crafts a unique blend of folk and contemporary sound\, pairing acoustic guitar with lyrics that confront serious issues like homelessness\, addiction\, and loss. His songs combine diverse musical influences with powerful social commentary\, and his honest and raw storytelling speaks to the struggles of life and the resilience needed to overcome them. \nTom Tierney has performed at Electric Picnic\, the Sceal Collective\, The Fingal Poetry Festival and elsewhere. He has had short fiction published in the Stinging Fly\, Southword\, Howl\, the London Magazine and New Irish Writing alongside non-fiction in Physics World and New Scientist. His play\, Forgetting\, was produced in the New Theatre in Temple Bar last year and will be broadcast on Newstalk later this year.
