Inspired by a rare rehearsal recording of a 1951 Bette Davis radio broadcast from the Lux Radio Theater\, the piece unfolds live\, as performers listen to the original recording and recreate it in real time. DESCRIPTION:The Horse of Jenin tells a universal story of resilience and imagination. This show combines storytelling\, mask and stand-up comedy to explore the everyday life of a boy growing up in Jenin in Occupied Palestine\, who\, like every child in the world\, just wants to play and have fun.  \n \nFollowing a major invasion in 2002\, a German artist travelled to the city to create an artwork with the kids of Jenin. They built a horse\, five-metres tall\, out of metal and debris from the invasion. The people of Jenin placed this statue in the centre of the city where it stood for 20 years. In October 2023\, an Israeli army bulldozer entered the camp and the horse was ripped from its place. She is a previous member of the Soho Theatre Young Writers Group\, Lyric New Playwright’s Programme and the Six in the Attic programme at Irish Theatre Institute. \nIn 2018\, her play; The Cat’s Mother\, toured to London\, Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe where it won the Fishamble Award for Best New Writing and was subsequently nominated for the Stewart Parker Trust Award. \nIn 2019\, she was the Channel 4 Writer-in-Residence at The Lyric Theatre in Belfast where her second play All Mod Cons premiered. The new play she wrote while on this residency won the Sonia Friedman Award. \nHer play The Loved Ones premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2023 in a co-production between Rough Magic and The Gate Theatre to critical acclaim. It was remounted in 2025 and went on an Irish national tour. \nIn 2024\, she wrote a play for young audiences for The Abbey Theatre called In Real Life which has been performed across many primary and secondary schools around Ireland. It is currently touring again this May.\nThe Loved Ones has been recently produced in Buffalo at the Irish Classical Theatre Company and is currently about to be produced at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York. \nErica currently has a residency at the National Theatre Studio in London.

In 1987\, he founded The Gaiety School of Acting\, the first full-time acting training in Ireland.  In New York\, he directed the Tony Award-nominated  productions of Molière’s Tartuffe and Dion Boucicault’s London Assurance. For Shakespeare in the Park\, he directed Othello\, with Raul Julia and Christopher Walken. In 1995\, Joe Dowling was appointed artistic director and CEO of The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.  He was the driving force behind the relocation of the theatre from its original location to the banks of the Mississippi River in a new three-theatre complex. His last Abbey Theatre production was a revival of Faith Healer in 2021\, which he had first directed in 1980 in the European premiere of Brian Friel’s masterpiece.
