It’s always been strange to me that my music fans are almost completely unaware of my theatre work and community work and vice versa. Writing\, Music and Performance\, politics and society\, spirituality and art\, these are the driving forces of my working life. I hope to see people from each of those worlds there\, and I’ll do my best to make it entertaining too. \nOver the years I’ve been approached by many people who tell me how much they love my prose writing\, but I don’t publish books\, so this is for them as much as anything.” \nSeán is a musician\, storyteller\, writer and global award winning theatre composer for ‘Shame’ and the off-Broadway smash ‘Silver Stars’. A musician’s musician\, and pretty much one of a kind. His shows are close-up and intimate by design. \nIn 2026\, he released his 6th solo studio album ‘I Am Vermin’ (as usual some friends stepped in to help) and\, fair to say\, he’s lost none of his relatable edge.

DESCRIPTION:Josiah Leming has paid his dues. As a teenager from East Tennessee\, his devotion to music led him to hit the road\, where he lived in his car and played for anyone who would listen. That took him all the way to a major record deal when he was only nineteen. When that ended\, he refused to give up and became an indie artist\, relying solely on the music and his undeniable gift for crafting relatable songs that led to a devoted fan base he calls the Bonnevilles. He appreciates them so much that he includes them in his artist name. “They’re the reason I’m able to make music\,” he says. \n2024 saw Josiah and the Bonnevilles reaching new heights\, completing a headlining tour of thirty-three sold-out dates followed by a slew of international stops that proved his global following. He has become known for raw emotion and a profound connection to his audience. This newfound attention has led to much anticipation for his new album — and As Is lives up to the expectations. \n  \n“I knew I had a responsibility to try to become a better writer\, a better artist\,” he says. “One day that feels like a blessing\, and the next it feels pretty intimidating.” Instead of reproducing his popular sound from the self produced “Endurance”\, he decided to expand it. “I think it would have been hard to keep my excitement to go out on the road with another kind of acoustic record.” His tenth studio album finds him going more electric than ever before\, even as he unplugs from the digital world. “I feel like a grizzled old veteran at this point\,” he says\, even though he is only thirty-six. “I’m desiring quiet\, a work space away from the internet…I felt like it was important to pull back this last year and try to understand what’s on my heart.” What he found there resulted in an album focusing on joy\, sorrow\, and working-class issues that feel very of the moment in a time when so many Americans are struggling to make ends meet. \nLeming comes by his empathy for working people honestly. He’s one of nine siblings\, born and raised in Morristown\, Tennessee\, right in the heart of Appalachia. He taught himself piano when he was eight and was writing songs by thirteen. As a child he was intently aware of his community and intensely proud of his people\, something he thinks about even more in these trying times. “I look at my I look at my folks in East Tennessee and very few of them seem to be winning in this new world\,” Leming says. “Being a regular person\, working\, trying your best. I think that’s something to be proud of.” \nHis records have always been intensely personal. But on As Is he wanted to step away from being the main character and instead use vignettes to express essential truths he has learned. “I want anyone to be able to put it on and not think about me when they’re listening. I want them to be in the emotion.” Because of this he made a conscious choice to not include himself on the album cover. \nLeming chose ten tracks from ninety-six songs he has written over the last year and a half. As Is features the most co-writes he has ever recorded. “I love writing alone\, but I wanted to bring in some trusted partners on this one\,” he says. The resulting list features some of the most acclaimed songwriters working today. There’s Nashville powerhouse Natalie Hemby\, a two-time Grammy winner who has written for everyone from Lady Gaga to Miranda Lambert; Joel Little\, a Grammy winner who has written with Lorde\, Taylor Swift\, Noah Kahan\, and many others; Scott Harris\, best known for work he’s produced or written for artists such as Shawn Mendes\, Dua Lipa\, and The Chainsmokers; and others. \nTo help him find the sound he hoped to achieve\, Leming brought in Konrad Snyder as a co-producer. Snyder has engineered or produced some of the best work to come out of Nashville in the last decade\, including tracks by Kacey Musgraves\, Stephen Sanchez\, and Noah Kahan. “It was an amazing partnership with Konrad\,” Leming says. “I never had to touch a computer or a piece of gear; he’s a whiz with all that stuff. I’m usually so hands-on with my stuff\, switching between setting up\, tracking and editing but on this record I got to just perform the songs.” \nThe songs on As Is feature Leming’s vivid sense of place\, precise yet poetic lyrics\, and emotion that is always longingly expressed by his vulnerable vocals. This collection is more up-tempo than most of his work\, which is something Leming and Snyder strived to make happen on about half the songs. “I was thinking a lot about the energy\, of having a couple songs that can amp up people at live shows\,” he says. \nThis power is especially apparent on songs like opening track “Good Boy”\, which boils toward a rousing breakdown\, “Carolina Heart”\, a tune Leming calls “less existential and my attempt at a feel-good song\,“ and “Going Gone”\, a nostalgic track about the passage of time. “Mountain Girl” is a foot-tapping harmonica-led tribute to Appalachian women. There’s the jaunty rock of “Redline”\, and a song called “One Day at a Time” that is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever struggled with addiction\, depression\, or a lack of confidence. Leming’s fans often cite his storytelling abilities as one reason they love his work\, and that takes center stage on the title track\, a spoken-word song. “Where It Starts” is a meditation on how heartache can lead to great art. \nThe first single is the powerful “Hell Without the Flames\,” the album’s darkest track that also showcases some of the best lyrics and vocals of his career. \nThey all make for a collection of songs that take the listener full circle. “There’s all these kinds of love stories\, and it walks through many variations on heartbreak\, ultimately landing on home\, acceptance and overcoming that hurt. I just want people to be able to see themselves in the songs.” \nThat’s what it’s all about for Leming. “The only goal for me is to make something real\, and honest\, and that can get them through the day\,” he says. “I gave everything I have for this album. I laid it all on the table\, which is what I always want to do.” As Is proves to be all of that\, and more\, a milestone for one of our most authentic and resonant artists working today.

DESCRIPTION:With his new album Not Bad for New Jersey\, singer/songwriter Brian Fallon doubles down on the defiant romanticism that’s always fueled his songwriting\, resisting any impulse to grow more guarded with time. Before bringing his fifth solo LP to life\, the Gaslight Anthem frontman returned to the fatalistic love songs that rewired his brain as a child—moody radio mainstays authored by rock icons deep into their second act\, voiced by wild-eyed dreamers he alternately refers to as “beautiful losers” and “desperate lunatics.” As he assembled a set of songs populated by characters who love too hard and risk too much\, Fallon built up a body of work that charges forward with a reckless momentum: the singular internal motion of someone who’s been knocked off course more than once but still chooses to believe\, refusing to surrender to cynicism’s easy gravity. \nProduced by his repeat collaborator Butch Walker (Green Day\, Jesse Malin)\, Not Bad for New Jersey features guest spots from Brandon Flowers of The Killers\, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen\, avant-garde guitar legend Marc Ribot\, and folk/country luminary Lori McKenna. Through a series of freewheeling sessions with Walker (who handled bass\, piano\, backing vocals\, and more) and Dr. Dog drummer Eric Slick\, Fallon summoned a frenetic collision of power-pop and heartland rock\, arriving at a perfect sonic counterpart to the album’s hot-blooded sincerity. “From the beginning I knew I had to fully lean into the passion and lunacy of all these songs I felt inspired by—there wasn’t much room for subtlety\,” says Fallon\, naming Bryan Adams’ “Run to You” and The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” among his touchstones for the LP. Mostly tracked live at Walker’s studio near Nashville\, Not Bad for New Jersey ultimately reveals an artist driven by the same rapturous abandon that animates his storytelling. “There was so much childlike joy in writing and recording all these songs\,” says Fallon. “The whole album came together so naturally\, with a level of creative fulfillment I hadn’t experienced in a very long time.”

DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, Bec O’Malley went on a hike in the Peak District with his friends. He’d taken his acoustic guitar with him and decided to film a quick video of him covering Dylan Gossett’s ‘Coal’ while out on the misty paths. In the short clip\, the young musician forgets the words a few lines in\, but there was something about it that connected with those who saw it on their algorithm. Perhaps it was the unpolished charm of the video – mistake left in\, cut off before he could try again – or his resonant vocals that hit in even just a few seconds\, or a combination of the two. The likes quickly poured in\, more so than for any other video he’d posted on TikTok before\, igniting interest in this unknown talent. \nO’Malley’s name may have been undiscovered when that video was posted\, but by that point\, he’d already been playing music and writing his own songs for years. Growing up in Stockport\, he first picked up a guitar aged 12\, learning the basics from his cousin and fleshing out the rest from YouTube tutorials. A few years later\, his interest turned from simply playing others’ creations to working on his own\, first in bands with school friends\, and then on his own. Along the way\, his sound evolved\, pulling in new influences and building the foundations for the music he makes today. “I was doing the indie stuff for so long\, and I was just getting bored of it\,” he explains. “I started listening to more of the modern side of country – Zach Bryan\, Morgan Wallen\, those guys – and it just revamped it in my head.” \n  \nRather than jumping on the bandwagon of the surging popularity of country music in the UK\, the genre is something that’s always been around O’Malley. He comes from an Irish family where music was always playing around the house and at family gatherings\, and “they’d always play all the country music – a bit of American country\, Irish country”. \nThe 23-year-old’s material\, though\, is a balance – one that draws from a world of Nashville skylines and pick-up trucks\, but also from his lived experience in the UK. Instead of parodying the language and topics of his American counterparts\, he puts his reality front and centre\, writing about things he and the people around him have seen or been through. “You don’t see many trucks around here\,” he laughs. “It just wouldn’t feel right to [copy US country] – it’d feel like role play.” It’s an approach he sees as having a unique allure to it: “No one in the States is going to sing it from a perspective that I’d sing it from.” \nSonically\, too\, he merges two disparate parts – country and indie – and\, rather than be seen as someone predominantly in one lane\, he wants to be known for his distinctive blend of them both. A love for The La’s\, Sam Fender and Oasis have fuelled the indie side of his writing\, with the latter band in particular having a huge impact on him – not just musically\, but in attitude and ambition\, too. The Gallaghers’ hometown of Burnage is just down the road from Stockport\, and their influence seeped into O’Malley’s surroundings early on. “You see Oasis and how big they got when they’re from just down the road\, and it’s like\, ‘If they can do it\, why can’t I?’” he reasons. \nWhile posting on social media\, O’Malley also built up his following and learned his craft the old-fashioned way\, too. During his university course in Liverpool\, he’d return to Manchester on weekends to play in the city’s Irish bars\, sometimes playing multiple sets in a day. Those venues proved the perfect performance classrooms as he battled rowdy crowds and learned how to get them on his side. “Sometimes you’ll get people who are quiet\, but then as the night goes on\, everyone gets a bit more pissed and scream and shout\,” he says. “We’ve learned how to deal with them – and have a night with them\, as well.” \nSince those days\, he’s been invited to play at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival\, support Weston Lonely and was scheduled to support Jeff Lynne’s ELO at their farewell show at BST Hyde Park\, until Lynne’s medical issues meant the gig had to be scrapped (more high profile bookings are set for 2026\, with appearances at State Fayre\, Kendall Calling\, Country Calling Festival and Highways’ Songwriters Round at Royal Albert Hall in the offing). By November 2025\, O’Malley had booked – and sold out – his first headline gig at Manchester’s famed Deaf Institute. These bookings would be impressive for any emerging artist\, but become even more so when you consider that they all came without O’Malley releasing a single song. \nFor a long time\, the rising artist’s tagline has been “singer with no songs out” – a slogan that gets more powerful when witnessed beneath ever-growing follower counts. Soon\, though\, that line will have to change – first\, following the release of his debut single\, ‘Let You Go’\, and later\, with the arrival of his first EP. “It’s the end of an era – although I might just change it to ‘singer with one song’. When the Grammy comes\, I’ll just say ‘singer with a Grammy’\,” he quips. \nAlthough only just officially released\, ‘Let You Go’ has already had a big impact on O’Malley’s journey. The first video he posted online of him playing the track was the first clip of original material to really take off\, racking up over 900\,000 views. Every day since\, users have asked him when he’s releasing it. \nAs a first single\, it captures the heart of O’Malley’s songwriting – inventive storytelling that’s woven into a sound that feels both familiar and fresh\, all delivered in his gravelly northern drawl. “I’d be crazy to ever let you go\,” he sings\, a line that’s spurred fans on to use the track in wedding videos. In reality\, the track takes on the perspective of a stalker\, detailing their thoughts as they watch from afar. \n‘Let You Go’ highlights the storytelling that sits at the core of O’Malley’s engaging lyricism\, something he grew into on a writing trip to Nashville. “When I was first writing songs\, I was all about melody\,” he explains. “Getting more involved in the country scene makes you think about words more\, and I spent a bit of time out in Nashville\, and they’re all so clever with lyrics and how the story flows from start to finish. It made me love the story side of it.” \n‘Two People Talking’\, a stomping earworm rich in detail\, picks up on another angle of that way of writing – rather than putting the musician in someone else’s shoes\, it twists his personal experiences into a tale shot through with wise takeaways. “Hearts get broke when hopes get higher\,” he warns at one point. “It’s saying\, ‘Don’t get your hopes up too high because it’s not happened yet’\,” O’Malley says. The mellower ‘See It From Here’\, meanwhile\, paints a picture of romantic sunsets and peaceful road trips. \nAs O’Malley properly kickstarts his path and becomes a singer with some songs out\, he’s keen to maintain the balance he’s already found: “I love the stripped back side of music where it can just be a fiddle\, guitar and some vocals\, but then I love the poppy side of things too\, so it’s about finding a good middle ground. I don’t know where it’s gonna go\, but it’s about putting out the songs that feel the most me and seeing what happens.” One thing that is certain\, though\, is that he’s driving forward with an unlimited sense of ambition. “The goal is to be the biggest artist\,” he says confidently. “I just want to play big shows.” With songs as strong as the ones in his arsenal\, reaching the big heights seems inevitable.

DESCRIPTION:Today\, The Delines will be touring The Set Up and a yet to be released new album next March in Ireland with two dates. \n  \nThe Delines were finishing the recording session for our last record\, Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, when I brought in a tune called ‘Walking With His Sleeves Down’. Amy learned it on piano and we recorded it live. Her take was stunning but the song didn’t quite fit with the record. It was lonelier\, more rattled\, and it missed that rudderless romance that inhabits the world of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, so we set it aside. Next I brought in ‘The Meter Keeps Ticking’\, a companion song to ‘JP and Me’. It’s the tale of a woman visiting her grifter husband in a mental hospital and realizing he doesn’t want to leave. It was a band favourite\, we recorded it\, but again it didn’t have that reckless romance that the other tracks seemed to have. So it too was set aside. And then finally\, right before we began mixing Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, I brought in a version of ‘The Reckless Life’. The song worked sonically but again it didn’t feel quite right lyrically. There was a lonely desperation to it and the other two tunes I just mentioned. I realized I was writing songs in the same world as Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, but from different a different angle. The three tracks pulled the listener into the lives of the drug-addled\, the grifters\, and the lost\, and not the romantics adrift on the road like Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. \nWhen Luck and Doom came out and we began touring it I still couldn’t stop writing sister songs to it. I think seeing the residue of the opioid epidemic in the US\, the thousands of young people lost to addiction and living in tents and on the streets and in old cars and RVs\, influenced Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom but it’s even more pronounced in The Set Up. ‘Dilaudid Diane’\, ‘The Reckless Life’\, ‘Jumping off in Madras’\, and ‘Walking With His Sleeves Down’ all live in that world. \nI also started bringing in different songs about grifters\, not the romantic couples from Luck & Doom\, but the lonely wreckage left after the breakup. ‘Can You Get Me Out Of Phoenix?’ was one of those. It’s a tune about a grifter daughter stranded in Phoenix who is thinking about the life of her father. And then I brought in the idea of The Set Up\, a spoken word song in three parts: the lure\, the catch\, and the grift. I wrote the words\, Cory wrote the music\, and Amy played the part and man oh man did she deliver. \n‘Keep The Shades Down’ was written as a link between the romance of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom and the isolation of the The Set Up. The couple in the song realises just how close the haves are to being have nots. The tracks came together fast and it was so naturally cinematic in feel that Cory and I began bringing in instrumentals to make it even more so. I had written ‘Jumping Off In Madras’ for the woman in ‘Her Ponyboy’ (Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom)\, as she gets off the freight train alone after the death of her boyfriend. Cory wrote ‘Getting Out Of The Ward’ for the guy in ‘The Meter Keeps Ticking’ who is leaving the mental hospital two days after Christmas and the stunningly beautiful ‘The Last Time I Saw Her’ for the kid in ‘The Reckless Life’ as she sets off from the hospital into the darkness of the world. \nOur stalwart producer\, John Morgan Askew\, was at the helm again and he’s the king of building atmospheric worlds. You can really feel it on this one. By the time we finished the record we realized The Set Up was the wayward\, misguided\, and lonely sister to Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. More ragged and undone but all CinemaScope Delines. \n– Willy Vlautin\, Portland\, Oregon\, November 28\, 2025 \nAbout The Delines: \nThe Delines were formed after Richmond Fontaine singer/songwriter\, Willy Vlautin\, heard singer\, Amy Boone (The Damnations)\, sing just one single ballad. He was so moved by her voice that he secretly wrote her songs for over a year before approaching her to start a band. Lucky for all she liked what she heard and The Delines were formed. Fontaine’s Sean Oldham on drums\, Freddie Trujillo on bass\, Vlautin on guitar\, and multi-instrumentalist Cory Gray on keyboards and horns. Vlautin is no stranger to critical acclaim in the US\, UK\, and Europe\, enjoying cult success and rave reviews from the likes of the New York Times\, Washington Post\, Uncut\, MOJO\, Hot Press\, Rolling Stone and the Wall Street Journal\, both as a novelist with seven books under his belt\, and as the former front man/songwriter of the Americana outfit Richmond Fontaine who produced eleven acclaimed studio albums.
