SUMMARY:The Plot In You
DESCRIPTION:The Plot In You continue to move forward on their fifth full-length album and second for Fearless Records\, Swan Song. The Ohio quartet— Landon Tewers [vocals]\, Josh Childress [guitar]\, Ethan Yoder [bass]\, and Michael Cooper [drums] stare down years of negativity\, soured friendships\, disappointment\, and mistakes and flush it all away in the wake of hammering distortion\, towering melodies\, cinematic production\, and unapologetically cathartic lyrics. Ascending to the apex of an eight-year grind\, the band reached critical mass on 2018’s ‘DISPOSE’. \nThe standout “FEEL NOTHING” exploded with 28 million US streams\, while the project eclipsed 55 million US streams. Billboard raved\, “DISPOSE is the band’s most polished and cohesive work to date\,” and Alternative Press noted\, “DISPOSE makes it clear that TPIY challenge both the listeners and themselves more and more with each release.” Grading the album “9.0-out-of-10\,” Rock Sound predicted it “should finally and deservedly make The Plot In You a name that everyone knows.” \nThey supported the record by hitting the road with Underoath\, The Amity Affliction\, Like Moths To Flames\, Sum 41\, and more. After racking up over 100 million streams and receiving praise from Billboard\, Rock Sound\, Alternative Press\, and more\, the group wave off darkness with unassuming confidence and clarity on Swan Song ignited by the single “Face Me.”

SUMMARY:Theo Katzman
DESCRIPTION:A man walks barefoot through the snow\, takes a long bath in an icy river\, then searches Craigslist for new-in-box cassette tapes from the early 90’s. \n\nHe lights a candle\, loads the tape\, and waits. \n\nHe’s listening for something unknown\, yet familiar: the edge. \n\nThis is a man staring down midlife with a renewed sense of vision\, a recently unearthed Tascam Portastudio\, and a call to embody masculine vulnerability through rock and roll song. \n\nIn other words…Theo Katzman is returning to his singer-songwriter roots\, with a series of intimate solo performances across the globe\, beginning in Europe and the UK. \nHe aims to pierce your heart. \n\nHis aim is true.

He collaborated with composer Shaun Purcell on the musicals Larkin and Songs of ReJoycing\, for which he wrote the book and lyrics\, and he produced Whiskey in the Jar\, a musical for which he also wrote the book and lyrics\, with music by David O’Connor. His most recent musical project is A Terrible Beauty in which he again collaborated with composer Shaun Purcell\, with musical direction by David O’Connor. \nShaun Purcell has a long involvement in writing musicals\, which were staged to critical acclaim in venues in Dublin and London. He composed the music for Brian Gallagher’s Larkin\, Songs of ReJoycing\, and Humphrey Truman’s The Man Who Knows. He also worked with Brian Gallagher on Winds of Change\, which was broadcast on RTE Lyric FM. Having taken a break for a number of years to pursue a career in the public service\, Shaune returned ten years ago to the theatre with his Mad Raven’s theatre company\, who continue to perform his original productions at The Hawk’s Well theatre in Sligo. Shaun’s new show\, The Lost Letter\, was staged at the Hawkswell Theatre in February 2026. \nTickets are €15. \nThe Bloomsday Festival is organised by The James Joyce Centre in partnership with Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.

SUMMARY:Mount Eerie
DESCRIPTION:bio: Phil Elverum\, b. 1978 \nI grew up five miles into the woods outside the island town of Anacortes\, Washington during the 80’s and 90’s in a post-hippie echo that normalized saying “hello” out loud to the nearby mountains\, waters and animals. As a teenager\, entering the world of music and creation through the door that punk tore open\, I finally found my people in Olympia. I lived there for 5 years and released records as the Microphones with the K label. Now I make Mount Eerie records\, since 2003\, and release them myself on a fake record label\, stubbornly still DIY to the bone. I have a devotion to this life of creativity and subversion that has never wavered. These songs and works dig down into the bedrock of this place and try to bring forth a fresh exhale\, a big picture glimpse\, small beneath the sky\, clear water trickling.

SUMMARY:SHADY NASTY
DESCRIPTION:Shady Nasty subvert expectations. In a world bound by modded cars\, immigrant heritage and digital obsessions\, Kevin Stathis\, Haydn Green and Luca Watson craft a left-field breed of punk that pushes their formal training in jazz and classical music to its most uncustomary extremes. \nInfluences like King Krule\, Low Life and Show Me The Body surface not as reference points\, but as undercurrents — absorbed and reconfigured into something idiosyncratic and distinctly their own. \nEarly EPs Bad Posture and CLUBSMOKE earned praise from The Guardian\, NME\, Kerrang!\, The Line of Best Fit\, DIY\, Stereogum and VICE\, each showcasing immersive world-building that has shaped a consistent voice over the past seven years. \nMarked by a distinctive harbour-city twang\, TREK — their long-awaited debut album — grapples with the less-than-glamorous hard graft of staying afloat while remaining creatively uncompromised in Sydney. Produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets\, the record ventures into more textured\, exploratory territory than ever before. Four months in\, it’s resonated with longtime fans and newcomers alike\, earning acclaim from FBi Radio (Album of the Week)\, RTR FM (Feature Album)\, triple j Unearthed (Feature Artist)\, NME Magazine\, Ones to Watch and more. \nRecently\, the group has shared stages with Skeleten\, Shame\, High Vis\, Ho99o9\, Sleaford Mods\, Gustaf\, Amyl and The Sniffers\, among others. Through their own headline shows\, they’ve cultivated a cult following across Sydney’s underground — including a sold-out run of album shows earlier this April. No matter the venue\, no matter the bill\, devout adherents clamber to fuel a heaving mosh.

SUMMARY:Conor Kinsella
DESCRIPTION:Conor Kinsella is a genre-bending punk artist and producer from Dublin. Created in 2025\, the project looks to the idea of genre itself as a tool for writing new music which pokes through the gaps which exist between styles. Exploring primarily political and self-deprecating themes which seek to unpack the chaotic and disturbing nature of life in the present age\, the live set combines punk beats\, semi-improvised ambient jams\, jazz-influenced arrangements and tightly sequenced dance rhythms\, at times equally confusing and familiar. Conor Kinsella has supported the likes of folk-punk legends Crywank at their sold-out headline show in Dublin in 2026. On June 19th\, he debuts the newest iteration of his live set\, complete with a six-piece band encompassing vocals\, saxophone\, trumpet\, viola\, keys\, guitar\, bass and drums.

His more recent albums have built a new global audience and supported sold-out shows across the United States. \nHis latest album\, Rock Of Boston\, was released on 20 September 2024 on Good Morning Monkey/Grand Phony in the US\, Lojinx in Europe and SONY Japan\, followed by an international tour. Recorded over winter 2023 on ½” tape at Barebones\, the record features collaborators including Jake Sinclair on bass and Brendon Urie on drums. Viola describes a fluid\, instinct-led writing process shaped by years of constant touring\, including writing on the road while performing with Panic! at the Disco. \nViola is currently working on the follow-up to Rock Of Boston\, due for release in Winter/Spring 2026\, with a tour to follow

SUMMARY:Singular Artists presents Skullcrusher
DESCRIPTION:Skullcrusher is the folk-electronica musical project of New York-based musician Helen Ballentine. She released her latest album\, And Your Song Is Like A Circle last October\, and has previously supported artists such as Ethel Cain and The Japanese House. \nAnd Your Song Is Like a Circle\, the second album from New York-based artist Skullcrusher\, a.k.a. Helen Ballentine\, winds its way into an everchanging\, unstable core. \nIf Skullcrusher’s first album rendered the detailed intimacies of domestic space\, Circle finds itself vaporised across the landscape: swirling\, drifting\, searching. It skirts an event horizon in long\, slow strokes. These are songs that vibrate with the fervency of an attempt to capture a moment\, to draw a circle around it. \nSkullcrusher is now bringing this to a live audience\, stopping off in Dublin on Saturday\, 20 June 2026. This isn’t one you want to miss.

SUMMARY:Matt Benson
DESCRIPTION:This June\, we are excited to welcome to Whelan’s the incredible Matt Benson. \nFrom a fire-bombed Belfast music shop\, to Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage touring the Balkans with Dutch Ska Bands and being down and out in London via every smoky dive bar you can shake a stick at\, Matt has lived the musical life most only dream of — now he’s telling the whole story through soul-drenched vocals\, steeped in cinematic narratives. So close your eyes and follow along. \nHis debut album Sit Back Down Again is capturing peoples imaginations and getting 5-star reviews from the critics. A soul-drenched debut steeped in vintage R&B\, New Orleans brass\, and cinematic storytelling. Grief\, growth\, supernatural characters and barroom romances — told through warm horns\, weathered vocals & raw\, honest songs. Hear echoes of Randy Newman\, Van Morrison\, Chris Stapleton and Dr. John shaped by a surfeit of New Orleans style. Its stories blur the line between rich\, cinematic fiction and the authenticity that comes with having lived through many of the narratives that he explores. \nCome see Matt sing this album at the piano\, hear him growl through the trombone to enchant and compel you through his world of stories in what promises to be an unforgettable evening. \nWith over 120k plays on streaming platforms\, appearances on UTV Life\, RTE Radio 1’s ‘Arena’\, selling out Whelans and praise from George Ezra\, Matt’s had an illustrious career playing trombone. He’s been in George Ezra’s band since 2017\, and played with Bad Manners\, The Pogues\, Neil Hannon\, Hot 8 Brass Band and lots more…

SUMMARY:Dirty Blond
DESCRIPTION:Corey Sanders\, aka Dirty Blond\, stepped up to the mic at a recent sold-out gig with a grin and a warning. ‘Are you having a good night? Good — because I’m going to ruin it.’ The crowd laughed. Then he played. And instead of killing the mood\, he tightened it —a roomful of strangers locked into the same feeling\, singing back every bruised lyric like it belonged to them. \nThat’s the trick: the heavier the heartbreak\, the stronger the connection. In Corey’s hands\, melancholia doesn’t isolate \, it unites. That tension — sorrow turning into connection — sits at the heart of Dirty Blond. The songs are bruised and vulnerable\, but in a live setting they feel expansive\, even euphoric. There’s comfort in the candour\, in the shared recognition of something difficult but true. It’s no surprise that audiences keep growing\, both in rooms and online. Hailing from Wales — ‘the land of music and magic\,’ as he fondly calls it — Corey has been steadily building towards this moment. \nWith an album due later this year\, he’s been sharing a run of stripped-back sad songs on TikTok\, quietly amassing tens of millions of likes and an increasingly devoted following. The online rise tells one story. The real one\, though\, is happening in real time\, in packed-out venues where heartbreak somehow makes everyone feel a little less alone. The John Lennon adage ‘Life is what happens when you’re making other plans’ landed hard for Corey after his relationship fell apart. He had bought a home and a ring while his partner was quietly making plans of her own\, ultimately leaving for the United States. \nRaised in Bridgend\, Corey describes a happy childhood\, loving parents\, and a close bond with his brother. Yet he still refers to his hometown as ‘a place where there are monsters under the bed.’ Though the coal mine closures occurred long before he was born\, their impact rippled through generations\, compounded by more recent tragedies that cast long shadows over the community. At school\, Corey wasn’t academically inclined\, but music offered a way out. He taught himself piano and guitar\, writing songs from the age of twelve. When a teacher explained he could earn a GCSE through song writing\, it was revelatory. ‘Until then\, I felt like there was no way of getting out\,’ he admits\, reflecting on the creative constraints of a working-class town weighed down by low expectations. \nAt fourteen\, he formed his first band. By seventeen\, he had signed a publishing deal. At eighteen\, he moved to north London\, living in a garage for two years on stacked mattresses while friends occupied the house above. After a breakup with his school sweetheart\, he wrote ‘You Are the Reason’ — the cinematic tearjerker that would become a global hit for Calum Scott. Many song writing successes followed. Today\, Corey’s songs have amassed more than nine billion streams\, but now he’s ready to step out from the studio and into the spotlight. So why the sadness? And is it personal\, or cultural? ‘It’s the DNA of where I grew up — trapped in its melancholia\,’ he says. ‘In Wales\, people sing in pubs\, but they don’t jump around like they do in Ireland.’ \nReflecting now\, Corey sees his roots differently. ‘I spent my whole life trying to escape. Now I see it as something beautiful and damaged. I want to write songs for the people — to give them new songs to sing in the pub\, after they’ve finished Delilah.’ Healed from the end of his last relationship\, Corey has since found love again. Alongside the sadness\, the album also holds space for songs that don’t deny the damage — but still dare to open the door once more. Ultimately\, these songs are about storytelling as catharsis: shared pain\, nostalgia\, healing — and the hope that quietly emerges in the aftermath.

SUMMARY:Metronome: Dublin Modular
DESCRIPTION:Folding Waves & Genevieve Howard \nTadhg Kinsella\nSonia Killmann  \nAn evening where modular and hardware electronics fuse with acoustic instrumentation and immersive digital art. Curated as a celebration of queer identity\, experimentation\, and collaboration\, this event brings together some of Ireland’s most exciting electro-acoustic artists. Expect performances to blur genres\, sounds and worlds. A vibrant snapshot of Ireland’s evolving electronic music landscape and grassroots communities. \nFolding Waves is an international award-winning creative audio studio based in Dublin. Comprising a small team of sound designers\, composers and mix engineers\, united by their shared enthusiasm for the symbiotic relationship between sound and moving image. \nBorne from their collaboration for ICADs Reverb event (part of Irish Design Week 2025)\, Folding Waves will be performing alongside multidisciplinary artist\, designer and musician Genevieve Howard – live processing her spontaneous harp gestures through a Eurorack modular synthesiser. \nThis\, with accompaniment from Folding Waves’ own Mark Bergin on heavily effected Banjo\, creates a sonically rich\, and texturally dense improvisational soundscape – harkening back to Ireland’s cultural music tradition through a distinctly modernist lens. \nTadhg Kinsella is a queer Dublin-based sound artist\, classically trained percussionist\, and composer whose work blends acoustic performance with experimental electronic practices.\nSpecialising in modular synthesis\, haptic sound devices\, and percussion elements. Tadhg’s practice spans contemporary classical music\, sound art\, and immersive installation. Their work explores the meeting point of sound\, technology\, and urban space\, often drawing on lived experiences; queer identity\, disability and grief to shape compositional and performative approaches. Deeply engaged in Ireland’s contemporary/experimental arts through grassroots\, queer & disability communities. \nTadhg’s compositions have recently been performed and exhibited in Berlin\, Bristol\, Romania and Stockholm\, with past performances at international masterclasses and concert halls across the United States\, Colombia\, and Europe. In Ireland\, their work has been presented at Project Arts Centre\, the RHA Gallery\, Smock Alley Theatre\, and IMRO for NMDX. \nSonia Killmann is an international saxophone player and electronic musician. They have performed across the UK and Europe and are collaborating closely with Cryptic Glasgow as a Cryptic artist\, working in immersive installations and audiovisual performance. Sonia’s work treads the boundaries between the familiar and the unfamiliar by merging organic and synthetic sound worlds. Sonia has been exploring Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening concepts through circular breathing and adapting environments in the context of live performance. \nPresented by NCH

This show is a rare opportunity to catch The Prongs in their special\, intimate two-man format (Two-Prong). Away from the bombast of their full six-piece band iteration\, Fleming and Toner will perform a curated menu of their most sharply Dublin-infused work along with readings from The Now Now Express novel from which The Prongs first crawled as fictional entities. Two-Prong promises a Telecaster/microphone/backing film projection performance worthy of the James Joyce-linked North Great Georges Street venue hosting this extraordinary evening with The Write Stuff. Come enter the tuneful and emotive audio/visual world of The Prongs. \nKaycii is an emerging hip hop artist and lyricist from Crumlin\, Dublin\, known for his raw storytelling\, dark imagery and vocal aggression. Working on his debut project and side projects\, Kaycii has been in the background perfecting his craft and preparing for release. \nEddie Winston is an emerging artist. He is a soulful\, and inspiring\, singer-songwriter from Ballymun\, Dublin. Following a hard-fought journey to break free from addiction after 25 years. SUMMARY:Singular Artists presents Have Mercy
DESCRIPTION:Blending the raw emotion of early emo with the weight and clarity of modern rock\, Have Mercy has established a sound that is distinctly their own. Across six studio albums\, the band has demonstrated both artistic growth and unwavering dedication to their craft. \nTheir journey has been marked by both triumph and adversity. A period of instability saw the lineup shift\, but through sobriety\, personal growth\, and renewed purpose\, the core members – Brian Swindle\, Nick Woolford\, Andrew Johnson\, and Steve Wootteon\, reunited in Baltimore\, Maryland\, revitalizing the band with a renewed sense of direction. \nTheir latest album\, the loneliest place I’ve ever been (Rude Records)\, is a powerful and introspective release. Balancing dark\, emotionally driven lyricism with infectious hooks\, the record reflects a pivotal chapter in Swindle’s journey toward sobriety. “It’s the record we always wanted to make\, dark yet hopeful\, polished yet imperfect.” \nWith a renewed lineup and creative energy\, Have Mercy has returned to the global stage\, continuing to solidify their reputation as a compelling and unmissable live act.
