SUMMARY:SUPERCHUNK
DESCRIPTION:‘90s’ Indie rock innovators Superchunk play Button Factory on Saturday the 27th of June – their first Irish show in 25 years. \n\nAfter almost four decades\, the North Carolina indie rock stalwarts remain one of those rare bands where the consensus\, amongst both critics and longtime fans\, is that their recent material rivals their beloved catalog—no small feat when that catalog includes classic indie albums like 1991’s No Pocky for Kitty and 1994’s Foolish\, and indelible garage-punk anthems like “Slack Motherfucker” and “Hyper Enough.” – SPIN Magazine \n  \n“Old habits die hard. “No Hope” applies Superchunk’s lifelong commitment to punk and indie-rock to the present moment: “Here we are singing ‘no hope\, hope\, no hope\, no hope\,’” declares Mac McCaughan\, Superchunk’s founder and leader since 1989\,” New York Times

SUMMARY:STIPE: A TRIBUTE TO R.E.M.
DESCRIPTION:R.E.M. formed in 1980\, in Athens\, Georgia and by the mid-nineties earned the tagline ‘the biggest band on the planet’ from the music press. \nThey pioneered the alternative rock scene with relentless touring and a distinctive sound and entered the 90s mainstream without compromising their artistic vision. They remain as relevant today as ever. \nTheir music is instantly recognisable: ringing guitar lines\, tasteful and clinical drumming\, melodic bass\, and sublime harmonies coupled with poetic (and political) lead vocals. \nContinuing as a trio after the departure of drummer Bill Berry in 1997\, R.E.M. broke up in September 2011\, just as they had started: as friends. They have ruled out ever re-forming. \nR.E.M. by Stipe\, the Definitive Tribute reflect the core of R.E.M.: four highly-experienced musicians who embody Berry\, Buck\, Mills and Stipe\, capturing the presence and performances of the band. \nAs huge fans of the band they are committed to holding true to the sound and overall aesthetic of R.E.M.\, so that fans\, old and new\, can experience the magic of hearing these songs played live with care\, conviction\, and affection. \nThey are joined on stage\, as R.E.M. were\, by additional musicians to help bring album tracks to life on stage. Each set-list is different\, but every show celebrates this timeless music for fans of R.E.M. \nHere is just a sample of what fans say about R.E.M. by Stipe\, the Definitive Tribute: \nIf you miss R.E.M. (or if you never saw them live) then Stipe are the next best thing to R.E.M. being back on tour.

SUMMARY:Stephen Wilson Jr.
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Wilson Jr. has recently exploded from critical darling to rising star\, earning a CMA Award nomination for New Artist of the Year and performing on the broadcast twice. Following his critically-acclaimed debut double album ‘søn of dad’\, which hit #1 on the iTunes country album chart\, he recently released his new single “Gary\,” which he premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live!\, and is currently spinning on country radio with 75 first week station adds. \nStephen Wilson Jr.’s journey from the hollers of southern Indiana to Nashville\, Tenn. has been a winding road that’s taken many detours: He’s been an Indiana State Golden Gloves boxing championship finalist\, a scientist\, and a lead guitarist and songwriter in an indie rock band. In 2016\, he ditched his laboratory 9-to-5 and signed a publishing deal with BMG Nashville where his alchemic songcraft immediately made waves\, leading to cuts from Caitlyn Smith\, Old Dominion\, Tim McGraw\, Sixpence None the Richer\, Leigh Nash and more. 2023 proved to be Wilson Jr. ‘s breakthrough year\, signing with Big Loud Records and releasing his debut double album søn of dad: a triumphant\, genre-spanning set of 22 songs dedicated to his late father and given to the world on the five-year anniversary of his passing. \nThe album was named the No. 1 album of 2023 by Holler who called it “a record for the ages\,” and earned a spot as one of the best albums of the year from Whiskey Riff\, Wide Open Country and Rolling Stone. In 2024\, he made his network television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers\, followed by performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic series and Later…with Jools Holland. Ahead of the one-year anniversary of søn of dad\, Wilson Jr. was also profiled in an extensive feature for CBS Saturday Morning. \nIn 2025\, Wilson Jr. released a deluxe edition of his debut album that featured a moving interpretation of “Stand By Me” that has been streamed tens of millions of times\, and in April\, he performed the national anthem live during the nationally televised broadcast of the 2025 NFL Draft. He also co-wrote and collaborated with Shaboozey on “Took A Walk\,” which was featured in the critically-acclaimed film The Long Walk based on Stephen King’s novel. Last November\, he earned his first CMA Award nomination for New Artist of the Year and played twice on the broadcast – a moving performance of his collaboration with Shaboozey and a star-making rendition of “Stand By Me.”

SUMMARY:Chezile
DESCRIPTION:Born in Albuquerque and raised in a family of Mexican regional musicians\, Alejandro Sanchez\, better known as Chezile\, has experienced a meteoric rise over the past few years. His 2023 psych-pop single ‘Beanie’ exploded on TikTok\, earning more than 1.6 million monthly listeners in under two months and transforming his life almost overnight. At the time\, Sanchez was living out of his car in Los Angeles; within weeks he was fielding calls from record labels and building a rapidly growing global fanbase. \nNow based in San Diego\, the multi-instrumentalist has continued to carve out a distinctive sound that blends dreamy\, reverberated guitar with a sentimental strain of indie rock. His music creates a hazy\, introspective world that has resonated deeply with listeners online and beyond. \nFollowing the melancholic introspection of his previous EP 47\, Chezile’s newer material turns inward in a different way\, drawing on childhood memories of skateboarding through the deserts of New Mexico and reflecting on how to stay grounded while navigating sudden success. The result is a body of work that balances vulnerability with warmth\, pairing intimate storytelling with immersive sonic textures.

SUMMARY:Wet Leg
DESCRIPTION:Touring all over the world\, Wet Leg developed into a taut\, caustic live operation that made good on their debut album’s success: #1 chart placements at home and abroad\, three GRAMMYs\, two Brits and over half a billion streams. \nWet Leg – the Isle of Wight five-piece founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – released their eagerly anticipated second album ‘moisturizer’ in July 2025. Joined by Ellis Durand (bass)\, Henry Holmes (drums)\, and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar\, synth)\, ‘moisturizer’ is fun and freaky and fabulous\, an unbridled display of the live muscle Wet Leg have built up over a few years of non-stop touring. Punchier\, prettier and more perverted where it counts\, ‘moisturizer’ is an album of manic love songs and well-timed kiss-offs\, delivered by a clan of the UK’s most beloved oddballs. \nIf success presents a fork in the road for any new band – to “go pop” or keep following your muse – Wet Leg emphatically chose the latter path – including working with Dan Carey again as their producer. In March 2024\, the band decamped to Southwold to write; living together\, working all day\, watching horror movies all night\, they soon locked into a new sense of symbiosis. Subsequently\, all five members of Wet Leg have writing credits on moisturizer – “We were just kind of having fun and exploring\,” says Chambers. “We focused on: Is this going to be fun to play live? It was very natural that we would write the second record together” adds Teasdale. ‘moisturizer’ is the band turning the dial up and delivering a record that is unapologetically bolder\, stronger and raunchier. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cian Ducrot
DESCRIPTION:Raised in Cork\, Cian was surrounded by music growing up and soon excelled himself\, learning piano\, classical guitar\, saxophone\, percussion\, drums\, violin and the flute. He studied at London’s Royal Academy of Music from the age of nine and soon felt split between his classical training and his desire to make pop music. He continued his studies while writing songs and posting on social media\, but his mind was made up following a successful songwriting camp in Los Angeles. \nThe deciding factor between the two worlds was the ability that a pop artist has to connect with their audience – and that remains a big aspect of his artistry to this day. He was far from an overnight success\, however\, often borrowing money\, busking\, surfing sofas and taking on random jobs to fund writing trips to London and LA. His first breakthrough on TikTok led to his debut EP Make Believe and he grew in stature with every release\, especially when ‘I’ll Be Waiting’ and ‘All For You’ completed his journey from pub gigs in Cork to the upper reaches of the charts. \nLittle Dreaming was released to widespread acclaim last August\, and saw Ducrot claimed his second Irish Number One album. The Dream Ship tour saw Ducrot play packed shows in London\, Manchester\, and Glasgow\, as well as Paris\, Brussels\, Berlin\, Copenhagen\, and Stockholm before closing with a sold-out show in Dublin’s 3Arena in December.

SUMMARY:NCH Landmarks: Paddy Casey
DESCRIPTION:In this occasional series\, leading Irish artists perform their landmark album and music from their career. \nAs part of the NCH Landmarks series at the National Concert Hall\, Paddy Casey returns to Dublin for a special night celebrating the albums that defined the early chapters of his career. This landmark performance will see Casey revisit Amen (So Be It) and Living in full; records that not only shaped his own musical journey but left a lasting imprint on Irish music. \nHaving been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi-platinum selling debut album Amen (So Be It)\, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders\, R.E.M\, Ian Brown\, Blondie and Tracy Chapman to name a few. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland\, including a sold out Dublin Castle\, RDS and a record-breaking week long run in The Olympia Theatre\, alongside special guest spots with U2\, Pearl Jam\, Bob Dylan and more. \nPaddy Casey’s hugely successful debut album Amen (So Be It) achieved many international highlights including tracks being featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’ alongside extensive American and European tours. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists\, his second album Living went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland (approximately 15 times platinum in its first year) \nThis was followed by the release of Addicted To Company\, Part 1\, with this album seeing Paddy Casey continue to tour across America\, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman\, securing a week-long slot on MTV. After the release of this album Paddy Casey decided that it was time to part ways with his record label and go independent in order to let himself and his music veer off in any direction the wind carried them\, resulting in his first release The Secret Life Of and his last double album Turn This Ship Around a resounding success with both the albums reaching platinum status. \nPaddy is currently mixing and getting ready to release the first single from his (as yet unnamed) new album due out this summer. \nPresented by NCH

SUMMARY:The Kooks
DESCRIPTION:The Kooks\, whose 2006 debut sold over 2 million copies\, have unexpectedly found themselves beloved by a new generation. While their original fans remain\, they’ve layered on a fervent Gen Z following\, headlining festivals and selling out shows worldwide. Social media has made them a generations’ new favourite band again\, introducing their unmistakable Brit-pop joy to fresh ears. Their debut was a defining moment for indie music in the 2000s\, their first releases set the sound of a moment in time. There are few songs as defining of the 2000s as ‘Naïve’\, but the band were never a one-hit wonder – their follow-up record\, ‘Konk’\, hit number one as one of four Top 10 albums. \nThe Kooks never stopped evolving\, transitioning from indie rock to synthpop and krautrock influences. Over time\, they’ve integrated wide-ranging inspirations—Harris’ love of soul and opera\, alongside Pritchard’s classic influences like Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. \nIn May 2025\, the band released ‘Never/Know‘\, their highest-charting album since 2008\, reaching number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. As part of their 2025 arena tour\, The Kooks delivered career-defining performances at Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s O2 Arena.

SUMMARY:Steve Ray Ladson
DESCRIPTION:Steve Ray Ladson\, a multi-talented musician and songwriter from Hopkins\, South Carolina\, has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in Country music. Rising to national prominence following his standout performance on America’s Got Talent in July 2025\, Ladson captivated audiences and judges alike with his original composition “Back of My Truck\,” earning unanimous approval from all four judges and advancing to the next round. \nThe performance drew enthusiastic praise from the judging panel\, with Sofia Vergara declaring him her favorite music act of the season\, exclaiming “You guys were amazing\, I loved it!” Simon Cowell was equally impressed\, stating “Everything was\, like\, on point. I love the song\, I love you. I love the band.” Both Simon and Howie Mandel recognized the commercial potential of the song\, agreeing it had all the makings of a hit. \nLadson’s musical journey began in his teenage years performing in Gospel quartets\, where he developed his foundational skills and stage presence. His talent and dedication soon led to opportunities with nationally recognized acts\, including tours with Grammy nominee Robert Randolph and the Family Band and six time Grammy winners The Blind Boys of Alabama. These experiences exposed him to diverse musical traditions and helped shape his unique artistic vision. \nA true multi-instrumentalist\, Ladson has mastered an impressive array of ten instruments\, including guitar\, electric bass\, banjo\, keyboards\, drum kit\, and harmonica. This versatility allows him to create rich\, layered compositions and brings a distinctive depth to his live performances. His instrumental prowess is matched by his songwriting abilities\, with all of his material being original compositions drawn from his real-life experiences. \nLadson’s songwriting draws inspiration from blues and roots legends such as Robert Johnson and Sonny Boy Williamson\, while incorporating elements from his Southern upbringing. His music reflects his life in the South\, where riding trails with the “Chocolate Cowboys” and participating in rodeo and horse riding culture provide dominant themes for his creative endeavors. \n“Blackgrass Brothercana” – A New Genre \nPerhaps most notably\, Ladson is pioneering his own musical genre\, which he calls “Blackgrass Brothercana.” This innovative fusion combines bluegrass and country-Americana with elements of R&B\, hip hop\, rock\, and soul\, creating a sound that is both rooted in tradition and refreshingly contemporary. This genre-blending approach reflects his diverse musical background and his commitment to pushing creative boundaries.

SUMMARY:Dead Pioneers
DESCRIPTION:Dead Pioneers emerged as a dynamic extension of vocalist Gregg Deal’s performance art\, seamlessly blending music with critical cultural commentary. Rooted in the same themes of identity and resistance that define his visual work\, the band’s sound acts as a powerful platform for addressing the complexities of Indigenous experience. Deal harnesses the raw energy of post-punk and alternative influences to challenge prevailing narratives\, using lyrics that provoke thought and evoke emotion. Just as his performance art confronts the legacies of colonization and systemic marginalization\, Dead Pioneers – completed by Josh Rivera and Abe Brennan on guitars\, bassist Lee Tesche (Algiers) and drummer Shane Zweygardt – engages audiences in a visceral dialogue about survival\, resilience\, and reclamation of voice. This musical endeavor not only amplifies his artistic vision but also creates a space for collective expression and solidarity\, inviting listeners to reflect on the intersections of culture\, history\, and identity in a contemporary context. Through Dead Pioneers\, Deal continues to assert that art\, in all its forms\, can be a powerful vehicle for activism and change.
