SUMMARY:JOHN BLEK
DESCRIPTION:“John Blek is Ireland’s best kept secret” The Irish Times \n“a master of subtlety in realms of folk-informed pop.” – The Thin Air \n“John’s most ambitious and creative record yet.” FOLK RADIO UK \nThe Midnight Ache is a staggeringly beautiful and perfectly formed piece of alternative folk with a lo-fi heart and touches of modest grandeur delivered by an artist with a voice that could break a heart in two and songs that could heal the most weary of souls. \nKnown for being one of Ireland’s most creative and independent artists\, John Blek brings us another beautiful record of 11 new songs. This time around John has taken his DIY spirit one step further. Not only did he self record and produce the majority of the album he went so far as to build the recording studio with his own bare hands. A labour of love but labour all the same. \nIn April 2024 Blek finished building his new creative home\, Bigger River Recording Co.\, and set about working on what would become The Midnight Ache. Echos of Sea Change era Beck and Sparklehorse give this record a lo-fi intimacy while the string arrangements balance the sound with an element of grandeur and sophistication. Home is very much at the heart of this new album\, it features vocal performances by John’s wife and even the cover is adorned with pressed flowers from their garden. Additional production and mixing was done by regular collaborator Brian Casey at Wavefield Recordings. \nBio \nBlek is an artist with a story to tell. With his timeless emotive voice and layered fingerstyle guitar you will be transported from scene to scene as his expansive songbook unfolds. \nJohn Blek is Cork City born and bred currently residing only a mile or two from his childhood home but listening to his music you can hear the influence of travel and experience. His parents\, both of whom were primary school teachers\, had to bribe him to stay in school after his 16th birthday with the promise of a new guitar on the completion of his final exams. Such was John’s belief in his ability and chosen path in life that he was willing to forgo the more traditional education sought by his peers. This conviction carries through to his art. His music is written from such a personal place that it creates the sense that he grew up with these songs\, that they are in his blood – and in a way he did\, they are his thoughts\, his words\, his sounds and his stories. Though not all autobiographical\, like many of the great painters\, an element of the artist exists in every portrait. \nWhile Blek is a solo artist he regularly collaborates\, and indeed will write new music with collaborators in mind. As a result\, it never feels like another artist is merely gate crashing his music instead it works as a beautiful harmonious meeting of artists who understand each other. Recent collaborations include Kris Drever & Kit Downes who both join John on his album “On Ether & Air”\, Joan Shelley who embodies Laura\, one of the characters in Blek’s duet “The Body”\, Nathan Salsburg of the Alan Lomax Archive who\, with John is currently investigating lesser known folk songs that traveled from Ireland to America in the mid 1800s with the support and funding of the `Arts Council of Ireland and fellow Corkonian Mick Flannery who duets with him on Revived a single from the 2020 album “The Embers”.

SUMMARY:Foggy Notions & U:Mack Present: Wavves
DESCRIPTION:Wavves returns with ‘Spun’\, their first album since 2021\, marking a new chapter for Nathan Williams and longtime bandmates Stephen Pope\, Ross Traver\, and Alex Gates. Written in the same backyard shed where it all began\, the record captures the band’s signature blend of chaos\, clarity\, and self-aware sneer. After years of label detours\, solo ventures\, and side hustles—including the launch of their cannabis brand Wavvy Supply Co.—Wavves is back on the road in 2025 with a full North American tour and a renewed sense of purpose. Same noise\, new energy.

SUMMARY:dexter in the newsagent
DESCRIPTION:South London’s Dexter In The Newsagent is one of the UK’s most exciting and authentic new voices. Her music captures the restless\, reflective energy of coming of age\, blending lo-fi intimacy with sharp songwriting and understated soul. \nHaving first started releasing music under the moniker ‘dexter’ to keep her creative world secret from her family\, she quickly caught attention with self-recorded tracks made on her iPhone. Her debut EP\, I Do Love a Good Sandwich\, marked a turning point both sonically and personally\, introducing listeners to her raw honesty and melodic instinct. The project drew praise from BBC Radio 1 (Annie Mac\, Clara Amfo)\, NME\, Pigeons & Planes\, Clash\, and The Line of Best Fit\, with its artwork created by acclaimed artist Slawn\, making it a defining early moment in her rise. \nSigned to RULESTHEWORLD Records (the music arm of Corteiz)\, Dexter has gone from DIY bedroom recordings to selling out headline shows and supporting some of the most forward-thinking artists in music today. Following her acclaimed 2022 project Fortune Cookie\, which featured fan favourites “Something Real” and “Vexed”\, she’s continued to evolve her sound with singles like “Special”\, “Eighteen”\, and “I Told Ya.” \nHer lyrics explore the messy\, beautiful in-betweens of young adulthood\, love\, frustration\, self-doubt\, and growth\, all with a conversational honesty that’s become her signature. Dexter’s voice\, soft yet striking\, moves between vulnerability and quiet confidence\, earning her comparisons to the UK’s most vital new storytellers.

SUMMARY:Ashnikko
DESCRIPTION:Pop disruptor\, Ashnikko has announced their sophomore album “Smoochies” will be out 17th October\, and released the music video for ‘Trinkets’. \nIn celebration of this announcement\, Ashnikko has confirmed the Smoochies Tour will stop off at 3Olympia Theatre\, Dublin on Tuesday 17th February 2026. \n\n\nPremiered on Radio 1 as Jack Saunders ”Hottest Record”’\, Trinkets sees Ashnikko turn casual dating into an art form\, collecting men like shiny souvenirs as she sings about her conquests over a chaotic\, candy-coated beat. Directed by Léa Esmaili the music video gives us inside access to Ashnikko’s art nouveau candy coloured world brimming with doll parts\, ashtrays\, D&D dice and keychains of men. In a time where minimalism and clean girl aesthetic is on the rise\, Ashnikko leans into maximalism as a form of expression. \nSpeaking on the ‘Trinkets\, Ashnikko says :“My little princess boys\, love being trinkets\, hanging off my bag\, looking up at me with smiles on their faces\, swinging as I walk.” \nAshnikko’s second album\, Smoochies\, is her most personal body of work to date. Following 2023’s debut WEEDKILLER\, sonically it expands Ash’s distinct hybrid-pop sound while taking a significantly more autobiographical approach to lyrics. The 15-track album is a rebellious one\, made from a place of radical joy at a time when the world\, especially the US\, has never felt more threatening for femmes and marginalised communities. In response\, Ashnikko is taking up space by inhabiting a state of pure play. It’s absurd and grotesque\, explicit and tender\, sexy without an ounce of desire to perform for the male gaze. \nSpeaking on the “Smoochies”: Smoochies feels like Demidevil’s older sister. It’s sexy\, playful\, and feminine\, while toeing the line of grotesque and absurd. I feel like purse sediment so much of the time – like a mess of crumbs and gum in receipts and lipgloss that I’ve forgotten about – so the album feels like that too. This is the first where I’ve written very autobiographically\, but at the core of it all is personal autonomy and joyful whimsy. \nAshnikko has announced SMOOCHIES Tour\, kicking off on 11th February in Glasgow’s O2 Academy\, stopping in Manchester and Dublin before making its way to London with O2 Academy Brixton.

SUMMARY:THEN JERICO
DESCRIPTION:1982 /83: Mark Shaw formed Then Jerico in via an advert in Melody Maker and debuted the band live in London in 1983. After a lineup change and just 6 more live gigs in London & New York they signed a 7-album deal with London Records in August 1984. The band recorded several tracks with producer Martin Rushent\, but London refused to release the first single ‘The Big Sweep’ due to Shaw’s controversial lyrical subject matter (Rupert Murdoch & Robert Maxwell); so in 1985 the band released it as a 1\,000 Limited Edition 12” Single on the ‘Immaculate’ indie label owned by Rushent & Pete “Buzzcocks” Shelley. It entered the Indie Charts at #12; finally persuading London Records to pay to release a further 500 the following week. In 1986 dance-rock anthem ‘Fault’ was released on London (also produced by Rushent & remixed in NYC by John Luongo) as a 7” single and just 10\,000 x 12” singles\, bringing international underground club success\, followed by the album ‘First [The Sound Of Music]’- co-produced by Mark Shaw & Owen Davies. It featured 3 chart singles: ‘Let Her Fall’\, Muscle Deep’ and 1987’s Top 20 hit ‘The Motive’ which remained in the UK Top 20 for 6 weeks & spent 14 weeks on the chart\, becoming the highest-played record on BBC Radio One in 1987. ‘Muscle Deep’ was then remixed by Julian Mendlesohn and re-released\, entering the U.K. Top 40 but subsequently being banned by Radio One for it’s antiapartheid lyrics. The ‘First’ album was re-released bringing worldwide attention and the band toured constantly playing support tours with Iggy Pop\, INXS\, Propaganda\, The Explorers\, along with sold-out headline shows including 2 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. \n1989: In March the second album was released: ‘The Big Area [Outside]’\, selling over 100\,000 copies within 40 minutes it immediately attained Gold and Platinum status. Featuring several producers including Mark Shaw & Peter Henderson; Rick Nowles; Rhett Davis & Bruce Lampcov; and Gary Langan (who produced the hugely successful Top 20 hit single ‘Big Area’). The album included 2 more UK Top 30 hits: ‘What Does It Take?’ (featuring Belinda Carlisle) and ‘Sugar Box’ . The album earned the group a global following and the 1989 ‘The Big Area Tour [Outside]’ drew over 200\,000 fans to their explosive live concerts. \n1990 – 1993: Mark Shaw disbanded Then Jerico and signed solo to EMI Records\, releasing the 1991 self-penned album ‘Almost’ as Mark Shaw Etc.\, (co-produced by Mark Shaw & Andy Taylor of Duran Duran ) which included hit the singles ‘Love So Bright’ and ‘Under Your Spell’ and toured Britain & Europe. \nIn 1992 Mark set up his own record label ‘Murder Records’ to release the live album ‘Alive & Exposed’ as an Enhanced CD – a live concert recording of Shaw Etc.\, at The Grand Theatre in London\, featuring all the Mark Shaw and Then Jerico hits along with 4 brand new songs and 2 live videos of the concert; followed by releasing a Double-CD titled ‘Radio Jerico’\, featuring all the band’s BBC Radio One ‘Live In Session’ recordings and the 1989 BBC Radio One ‘In Concert’ recording of Then Jerico live at Hammersmith Odeon (voted Concert of The Year in 1989 and Concert of The Decade by BBC Radio One listeners). Throughout the 1990’s Mark Shaw continued as both solo artist and as Then Jerico and in 1995 signed to Spanish dance label Kong Records to record new techno versions of ‘The Motive‘ \,’Muscle Deep’ and ‘Big Area’\, released in 1996 to commercial\, critical and huge radio success in Europe\, performing frequent live solo shows in Spain. Shaw also created the underground dance music duo ‘Heretic’ with co-writer / co-producer Tarquin Gotch\, releasing seminal underground track ‘The Way’. The track was trance-remixed by Mike Twangling released on 2012 Records. \n1994 -1998: Mark Shaw & Andy Taylor tour the U.K. in 1994 as Then Jerico and from 1993 – 1997: Shaw wrote\, recorded\, produced & mixed the self-financed album of new Then Jerico material: ‘Orgasmaphobia’ released in 1998 (Eagle Rock/ Murder Records). The album includes musical\, songwriting & production collaborations between Shaw & Andy Taylor: also Mark Shaw & Mick MacNeil (Simple Minds); Shaw & Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd); and author Iain Banks reading a piece from his book ‘ Walking On Glass’. Then Jerico performed ‘special guest’ appearances with Brian May at The Royal Albert Hall and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. \n1998 – 2002: Shaw headlined at ‘The Rat Pack’ weekly club night in London’s West End\, a night of live music & comedy dedicated to the music of Sinatra\, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr.\, along with cutting-edge stand-up comedians; and in 1999 he fulfilled a lifetime ambition performing at the Edinburgh Festival with ‘The Rat Pack’\, receiving 4-star reviews from both ‘The Scotsman’ and ‘The Guardian’. Since 2000\, Mark has continuously headlined the live lounge music night ‘The Kitsch Lounge Riot’ at London’s Cafe de Paris. Forming a new Then Jerico line-up he performed 4 x tours of duty for the British and UN / NATO Allied armed forces\, playing concerts in active war theatres in Kosovo\, Bosnia and also in Adana\, Turkey (during the Iraq war) at several other international UN / British Military bases. Shaw also regularly performed U.K. concerts and live appearances for his chosen charities. \n2012 / 2013: Shaw reunited the 1989 Then Jerico line-up in 2012 after 23 years apart for ‘The Big Area Tour 2012’ playing venues throughout Britain; culminating in their first-ever acoustic show at The Bedford (theatre)\, London\, which was filmed & released as Double DVD/ CD and solo CD titled ‘Acoustic:Live – London 2012’ (Then Jerico Productions) produced & mixed by Gary Langan & Shaw.\nMARK SHAW : THEN JERICO BIOGRAPHY 2025 / 2026 (P2 of 2) \nIn February 2013 Shaw and the 2 guitarists played 3 x Then Jerico Acoustic shows at the 9th Belfast ‘Belnash Songwriters Festival. In May 2013\, Mark Shaw curated and released ‘Reprise’ (Warner Music / Rhino Records) a new Then Jerico double album compilation of hit singles\, album tracks\, rare single mixes and dance remixes on digital download and the band performed the ‘Reprise’ UK Tour at ‘Let’s Rock Bristol’ festival\, and Shaw and guitarist Scott Taylor performed at ‘Rewind Henley’ Festival in 2013. In 2014 Mark formed a new Then Jerico line-up who were the only band to play all 5 ‘Let’s Rock’ Festivals. \n2015/18: Shaw was commissioned as Music Supervisor Consultant by British independant film company Moli Films’ to perform and produce a new version of David Bowie’s ‘Golden Years’ as the title track for the black comedy film ‘Golden Years’\, released in Spring 2016 in U.K. cinemas and DVD. SUMMARY:Courtney Marie Andrews
DESCRIPTION:The new album (title yet to be revealed) is “a record in pursuit of love\,” says Courtney Marie Andrews. But love\, it turns out\, “is a lot more than I gave it credit for\,” she explains. “It’s built over years\, it’s built with trust\, with changes\, it becomes something new and unrecognizable\, the deeper you go.” Written at the junction of intense endings and beginnings in her life\, the album demands more of those we love and reveals a stronger\, wiser\, and more clear-eyed Courtney Marie Andrews in the process. It is both lush and elemental\, precise in its construction but rich with sonic and lyrical layers. In love and on the new album\, there is no quarter for empty gestures. \nFrom her very first recordings\, to her 2016’s breakthrough Honest Life\, to 2020’s Grammy-nominated Old Flowers and her most recent Loose Future\, Andrews has been celebrated as an artist who challenges herself\, and who finds new interplays of Folk and Americana. “As a songwriter you can make the same record over and over again\,” Andrews says\, “and I’m not interested in that. I make records to stand alone and stand apart from each other.” Co-produced with Jerry Bernhardt and recorded almost entirely to tape\, The new album features complete in-studio performances\, hinging on performance rather than perfection. “We thought a lot about Lee Hazlewood\, about Big Star’s Third and Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk” says Andrews\, and that constellation of stars is apparent here. The new album feels elegant\, disciplined and balanced but never cold\, always vulnerable and human.

SUMMARY:LEITH ROSS
DESCRIPTION:Hailing from a small town near Ottawa\, Ontario\, singer-songwriter Leith Ross (they / them) channels their honest and emotional storytelling through introspective lyrics and a blend of indie folk with alternative and rock sounds. In 2020\, they first introduced their artistry and independently released their debut Motherwell EP. Recorded live\, it received widespread praise from tastemakers and fans alike. They continued to evolve with their viral singles “I’d Have To Think About It” and “We’ll Never Have Sex\,” while also maintaining their momentum with a rising social presence. Closing out 2023\, they unveiled the deluxe version To Learn\, More\, including live versions of fan favorites “(You) On My Arm\,” “Orlando\,” and “To Learn.” Critical acclaim followed from the likes of NME\, CLASH\, Them.\, Ones To Watch\, and The FADER\, who hailed them as “your new obsession.” Beyond tours with Lord Huron\, Bahamas\, and Helena Deland\, they sold out headline shows worldwide\, performed at festivals across North America\, and received the inaugural “John Prine Songwriter Fellowship” at 2022’s Newport Folk Festival and a nomination for “Alternative Album of the Year” at 2024’s Juno Awards. Now\, with over 450 million streams across their catalogue to date\, they return with the new emotionally charged single “Grieving\,” heralding a highly anticipated new album helmed by hit producer Rostam [Vampire Weekend].

SUMMARY:DRIVEN SNOW
DESCRIPTION:Driven Snow start 2026 with new music and an opportunity to catch up with the band playing live in the intimate environs of Little Whelans. They will be playing songs from their critically acclaimed debut album\, A Kind Of Dreaming\, as well as offering up some brand new tunes and a smattering of beautifully reworked cover versions. \nThe band celebrate the beginning of 2026 by making a new song available – the achingly understated “Dawn Chorus”\, which examines the mother-daughter relationship (in both directions) with a heart-stopping lyric written by Emily and featuring a spoken word performance from her mother. \nDriven Snow are Kieran McGuinness and Emily Aylmer\, whose musical careers and lives grew from their roles in the bands Delorentos and Republic of Loose\, respectively. Their beautiful\, dreamy pop tunes and vocal harmonies grew out of songs penned late at night\, while their 3 children were fast asleep. Their debut album “A Kind of Dreaming” was released in 2024 to great acclaim and described as “Sublime” (Irish Times)\, “Bewitching” (Irish Independent) and “An album to luxuriate in. (Hotpress)” \nDriven Snow’s releases have brought them a steadily increasing level of coverage nationally and internationally as well as airplay throughout Ireland along with plays across the UK\, Europe and as far afield as USA\, Canada\, South Africa and Mexico. \nTheir songs offer a tantalising hint of the yearning curiosity in their songwriting via a mix of classic harmonies housed in uncluttered acoustic and electronic sounds. Influences include Neil Young\, Beach House\, Cat Power\,Scandinavian TV shows and fireside beers. The realities of life as a musician in modern Ireland have never been more beautifully articulated. \n“Brave and Intimate.. What a wonderful surprise” – Goldenplec\n“Sublime Acoustic-Pop folk” – Irish Times\n“Magical and Compelling” – Indie Buddie\n“Bewitching” – Irish Independent\n“Beautifully made\, a strong and affecting album” – The Last Mixed Tape
