SUMMARY:Lucy Rose
DESCRIPTION:Lucy Rose’s return to the stage follows one of the most challenging and transformative periods of her life. After the release of her critically acclaimed 2019 album ‘No Words Left’\, which culminated in a sold-out performance at London’s Barbican\, Rose planned a period of rest following years of relentless touring\, but was instead met with a rare and life-altering diagnosis. \n“Five weeks after I gave birth to Otis\, I started getting back pain… until one night\, whilst lifting him\, my back went.” An eventual MRI scan revealed eight fractured vertebrae caused by pregnancy-associated osteoporosis\, a condition affecting fewer than 1 in 100\,000 women\, leaving her unable to carry out everyday tasks with doctors unable to guarantee recovery. \nRecovery came gradually\, aided by hydrotherapy that\, in Rose’s words\, “really changed my life.” As her physical strength returned\, so too did her connection to music. \nWhat followed was a creative reawakening that reshaped her relationship with songwriting\, including time spent working with Logic and recording at Paul Weller’s studio\, embracing a more open and instinctive creative process. \n‘This Ain’t The Way You Go Out’ is an album constructed from the ashes of despair\, nurturing the tiniest of green shoots and giving life to something that had looked otherwise spent. It’s a new era for Lucy\, and an era in its purest\, truest sense. An artist re-awakening herself to the power of music\, and having a lot of fun in the process of its discovery and delivery.

SUMMARY:Pansy Division
DESCRIPTION:Pansy Division is a gay pop-punk formed in San Francisco in 1991. There have been gay musicians throughout rock music history\, but when Pansy Division began they were one of the first to be so boldly open about it.  Founded by guitarist/singer Jon Ginoli and bassist/vocalist Chris Freeman\, with the intent of forming a gay rock band\, and joined later by drummer Luis Illades and guitarist Joel Reader\, Pansy Division blew the closet doors open. \nRaised on a diet of 60s pop and 70s punk\, their sound was suitably crunchy and catchy as hell. They wrote in-your-face lyrics\, but did it with a sense of humor. Not only did their music and stance defy stereotypical norms of rock musicians being openly gay\, they also broke gay cultural stereotypes that rock wouldn’t interest gay people. \nWriting upbeat catchy songs and combining them with overtly sexual and sometimes humorous lyrics\, Pansy Division toured North and America and Europe in the ’90s and developed a cult following worldwide that exists to this day. They took a stand poking fun at homophobes and asserting a positive message of inclusion while singing about topics rarely heard in the world of rock and punk. They have been going for over 30 years and their approach remains relevant now.

SUMMARY:The Kooks
DESCRIPTION:The Kooks\, whose 2006 debut sold over 2 million copies\, have unexpectedly found themselves beloved by a new generation. While their original fans remain\, they’ve layered on a fervent Gen Z following\, headlining festivals and selling out shows worldwide. Social media has made them a generations’ new favourite band again\, introducing their unmistakable Brit-pop joy to fresh ears. Their debut was a defining moment for indie music in the 2000s\, their first releases set the sound of a moment in time. There are few songs as defining of the 2000s as ‘Naïve’\, but the band were never a one-hit wonder – their follow-up record\, ‘Konk’\, hit number one as one of four Top 10 albums. \nThe Kooks never stopped evolving\, transitioning from indie rock to synthpop and krautrock influences. Over time\, they’ve integrated wide-ranging inspirations—Harris’ love of soul and opera\, alongside Pritchard’s classic influences like Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. \nIn May 2025\, the band released ‘Never/Know‘\, their highest-charting album since 2008\, reaching number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. As part of their 2025 arena tour\, The Kooks delivered career-defining performances at Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s O2 Arena.

SUMMARY:NCH Landmarks: Paddy Casey
DESCRIPTION:In this occasional series\, leading Irish artists perform their landmark album and music from their career. \nAs part of the NCH Landmarks series at the National Concert Hall\, Paddy Casey returns to Dublin for a special night celebrating the albums that defined the early chapters of his career. This landmark performance will see Casey revisit Amen (So Be It) and Living in full; records that not only shaped his own musical journey but left a lasting imprint on Irish music. \nHaving been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi-platinum selling debut album Amen (So Be It)\, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders\, R.E.M\, Ian Brown\, Blondie and Tracy Chapman to name a few. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland\, including a sold out Dublin Castle\, RDS and a record-breaking week long run in The Olympia Theatre\, alongside special guest spots with U2\, Pearl Jam\, Bob Dylan and more. \nPaddy Casey’s hugely successful debut album Amen (So Be It) achieved many international highlights including tracks being featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’ alongside extensive American and European tours. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists\, his second album Living went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland (approximately 15 times platinum in its first year) \nThis was followed by the release of Addicted To Company\, Part 1\, with this album seeing Paddy Casey continue to tour across America\, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman\, securing a week-long slot on MTV. After the release of this album Paddy Casey decided that it was time to part ways with his record label and go independent in order to let himself and his music veer off in any direction the wind carried them\, resulting in his first release The Secret Life Of and his last double album Turn This Ship Around a resounding success with both the albums reaching platinum status. \nPaddy is currently mixing and getting ready to release the first single from his (as yet unnamed) new album due out this summer. \nPresented by NCH

SUMMARY:Cian Ducrot
DESCRIPTION:Raised in Cork\, Cian was surrounded by music growing up and soon excelled himself\, learning piano\, classical guitar\, saxophone\, percussion\, drums\, violin and the flute. He studied at London’s Royal Academy of Music from the age of nine and soon felt split between his classical training and his desire to make pop music. He continued his studies while writing songs and posting on social media\, but his mind was made up following a successful songwriting camp in Los Angeles. \nThe deciding factor between the two worlds was the ability that a pop artist has to connect with their audience – and that remains a big aspect of his artistry to this day. He was far from an overnight success\, however\, often borrowing money\, busking\, surfing sofas and taking on random jobs to fund writing trips to London and LA. His first breakthrough on TikTok led to his debut EP Make Believe and he grew in stature with every release\, especially when ‘I’ll Be Waiting’ and ‘All For You’ completed his journey from pub gigs in Cork to the upper reaches of the charts. \nLittle Dreaming was released to widespread acclaim last August\, and saw Ducrot claimed his second Irish Number One album. The Dream Ship tour saw Ducrot play packed shows in London\, Manchester\, and Glasgow\, as well as Paris\, Brussels\, Berlin\, Copenhagen\, and Stockholm before closing with a sold-out show in Dublin’s 3Arena in December.

SUMMARY:Wet Leg
DESCRIPTION:Touring all over the world\, Wet Leg developed into a taut\, caustic live operation that made good on their debut album’s success: #1 chart placements at home and abroad\, three GRAMMYs\, two Brits and over half a billion streams. \nWet Leg – the Isle of Wight five-piece founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers – released their eagerly anticipated second album ‘moisturizer’ in July 2025. Joined by Ellis Durand (bass)\, Henry Holmes (drums)\, and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar\, synth)\, ‘moisturizer’ is fun and freaky and fabulous\, an unbridled display of the live muscle Wet Leg have built up over a few years of non-stop touring. Punchier\, prettier and more perverted where it counts\, ‘moisturizer’ is an album of manic love songs and well-timed kiss-offs\, delivered by a clan of the UK’s most beloved oddballs. \nIf success presents a fork in the road for any new band – to “go pop” or keep following your muse – Wet Leg emphatically chose the latter path – including working with Dan Carey again as their producer. In March 2024\, the band decamped to Southwold to write; living together\, working all day\, watching horror movies all night\, they soon locked into a new sense of symbiosis. Subsequently\, all five members of Wet Leg have writing credits on moisturizer – “We were just kind of having fun and exploring\,” says Chambers. “We focused on: Is this going to be fun to play live? It was very natural that we would write the second record together” adds Teasdale. ‘moisturizer’ is the band turning the dial up and delivering a record that is unapologetically bolder\, stronger and raunchier. \n\n

SUMMARY:Chezile
DESCRIPTION:Born in Albuquerque and raised in a family of Mexican regional musicians\, Alejandro Sanchez\, better known as Chezile\, has experienced a meteoric rise over the past few years. His 2023 psych-pop single ‘Beanie’ exploded on TikTok\, earning more than 1.6 million monthly listeners in under two months and transforming his life almost overnight. At the time\, Sanchez was living out of his car in Los Angeles; within weeks he was fielding calls from record labels and building a rapidly growing global fanbase. \nNow based in San Diego\, the multi-instrumentalist has continued to carve out a distinctive sound that blends dreamy\, reverberated guitar with a sentimental strain of indie rock. His music creates a hazy\, introspective world that has resonated deeply with listeners online and beyond. \nFollowing the melancholic introspection of his previous EP 47\, Chezile’s newer material turns inward in a different way\, drawing on childhood memories of skateboarding through the deserts of New Mexico and reflecting on how to stay grounded while navigating sudden success. The result is a body of work that balances vulnerability with warmth\, pairing intimate storytelling with immersive sonic textures.

DESCRIPTION:‘90s’ Indie rock innovators Superchunk play Button Factory on Saturday the 27th of June – their first Irish show in 25 years. \n\nAfter almost four decades\, the North Carolina indie rock stalwarts remain one of those rare bands where the consensus\, amongst both critics and longtime fans\, is that their recent material rivals their beloved catalog—no small feat when that catalog includes classic indie albums like 1991’s No Pocky for Kitty and 1994’s Foolish\, and indelible garage-punk anthems like “Slack Motherfucker” and “Hyper Enough.” – SPIN Magazine \n  \n“Old habits die hard. “No Hope” applies Superchunk’s lifelong commitment to punk and indie-rock to the present moment: “Here we are singing ‘no hope\, hope\, no hope\, no hope\,’” declares Mac McCaughan\, Superchunk’s founder and leader since 1989\,” New York Times

SUMMARY:Dirty Blond
DESCRIPTION:Corey Sanders\, aka Dirty Blond\, stepped up to the mic at a recent sold-out gig with a grin and a warning. ‘Are you having a good night? Good — because I’m going to ruin it.’ The crowd laughed. Then he played. And instead of killing the mood\, he tightened it —a roomful of strangers locked into the same feeling\, singing back every bruised lyric like it belonged to them. \nThat’s the trick: the heavier the heartbreak\, the stronger the connection. In Corey’s hands\, melancholia doesn’t isolate \, it unites. That tension — sorrow turning into connection — sits at the heart of Dirty Blond. The songs are bruised and vulnerable\, but in a live setting they feel expansive\, even euphoric. There’s comfort in the candour\, in the shared recognition of something difficult but true. It’s no surprise that audiences keep growing\, both in rooms and online. Hailing from Wales — ‘the land of music and magic\,’ as he fondly calls it — Corey has been steadily building towards this moment. \nWith an album due later this year\, he’s been sharing a run of stripped-back sad songs on TikTok\, quietly amassing tens of millions of likes and an increasingly devoted following. The online rise tells one story. The real one\, though\, is happening in real time\, in packed-out venues where heartbreak somehow makes everyone feel a little less alone. The John Lennon adage ‘Life is what happens when you’re making other plans’ landed hard for Corey after his relationship fell apart. He had bought a home and a ring while his partner was quietly making plans of her own\, ultimately leaving for the United States. \nRaised in Bridgend\, Corey describes a happy childhood\, loving parents\, and a close bond with his brother. Yet he still refers to his hometown as ‘a place where there are monsters under the bed.’ Though the coal mine closures occurred long before he was born\, their impact rippled through generations\, compounded by more recent tragedies that cast long shadows over the community. At school\, Corey wasn’t academically inclined\, but music offered a way out. He taught himself piano and guitar\, writing songs from the age of twelve. When a teacher explained he could earn a GCSE through song writing\, it was revelatory. ‘Until then\, I felt like there was no way of getting out\,’ he admits\, reflecting on the creative constraints of a working-class town weighed down by low expectations. \nAt fourteen\, he formed his first band. By seventeen\, he had signed a publishing deal. At eighteen\, he moved to north London\, living in a garage for two years on stacked mattresses while friends occupied the house above. After a breakup with his school sweetheart\, he wrote ‘You Are the Reason’ — the cinematic tearjerker that would become a global hit for Calum Scott. Many song writing successes followed. Today\, Corey’s songs have amassed more than nine billion streams\, but now he’s ready to step out from the studio and into the spotlight. So why the sadness? And is it personal\, or cultural? ‘It’s the DNA of where I grew up — trapped in its melancholia\,’ he says. ‘In Wales\, people sing in pubs\, but they don’t jump around like they do in Ireland.’ \nReflecting now\, Corey sees his roots differently. ‘I spent my whole life trying to escape. Now I see it as something beautiful and damaged. I want to write songs for the people — to give them new songs to sing in the pub\, after they’ve finished Delilah.’ Healed from the end of his last relationship\, Corey has since found love again. Alongside the sadness\, the album also holds space for songs that don’t deny the damage — but still dare to open the door once more. Ultimately\, these songs are about storytelling as catharsis: shared pain\, nostalgia\, healing — and the hope that quietly emerges in the aftermath.
