SUMMARY:A.S. Fanning
DESCRIPTION:A.S. Fanning – Take Me Back To Nowhere \nA.S. Fanning is an Irish songwriter whose music fuses the introspection of indie folk with the expansive weight of alternative rock and psychedelic music. Marked by layered textures\, melancholic atmospheres\, and his resonant baritone\, his songs confront themes of dread\, mortality\, and uncertainty. Drawing comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Scott Walker\, Fanning transforms unease into hauntingly beautiful soundscapes\, blending acoustic intimacy with subtle electronic flourishes to create a voice that is both timeless and distinctly his own. A.S. Fanning’s latest album Mushroom Cloud earned widespread acclaim in the UK\, praised for its sweeping atmospheres and unflinching lyricism. Hailed in the press as a career-defining work\, it secured him recognition as Songwriter of the Year 2023 in Far Out Magazine and cemented his reputation as one of Ireland’s most compelling voices. \nHis upcoming album Take Me Back to Nowhere was shaped by disorientation\, fracture\, and a fascination with the unstable nature of reality. Written while housebound with a broken wrist\, the album reflects both physical limitation and creative paralysis\, where endless words became overwhelming chaos. Inspired by sci-fi authors like Ursula K. Le Guin and J.G. Ballard\, the songs explore how imagination bends reality\, how anxiety reshapes the world into surreal\, isolating landscapes. \nAlongside this inner turbulence came the constant noise of global conflict\, viewed through the prism of social media\, and the sense of a collapsing moral center. The surreal spectacle of war reduced to “content” deepened a feeling of unreality\, of civilization as mere facade. His vision of confusion as a valid form of entertainment became a guiding force: instead of resisting disorder\, the album embraces it. \nThe result is a work that oscillates between intimacy and disorientation\, rooted in the belief that there is no singular reality\, only fractured personal perspectives. “Take me back to nowhere” becomes both a plea for escape and an embrace of disorientation – a return to the void that precedes and outlasts us. Conceptual\, atmospheric\, and unsettling\, the album invites listeners into the depths of confusion.

SUMMARY:The HU
DESCRIPTION:Ahead of the much-anticipated release of their third album\, Innovative Mongolian rock band The HU have announced details of their upcoming Warrior Chant Tour\, with special guests Skáld\, which features a show at 3Olympia Theatre\, Dublin on 6th October 2026. \n  \n\n\nThe HU are a fantastically unique force of nature. A musical sensation formed in 2016 in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar\, the quartet are the pioneers of the genre Hunnu Rock\, with almost 900 million global streams to their name – and counting. 2019’s debut album The Gereg put them on the map: not just in their home country\, where they were the first group ever to be awarded the prestigious Chinggis Khaan Order\, but even a galaxy far\, far away\, contributing an original song to the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order soundtrack. \nTwo years later\, their name sat alongside the likes of Elton John\, St. Vincent and Ghost on the epic tracklist to The Metallica Blacklist record\, performing a distinct\, formidable cover of ‘Through The Never’ at the personal request of the metal legends. And 2022 follow-up album Rumble Of Thunder took The HU to iconic stages such as England’s Glastonbury Festival\, and into North American arenas supporting Iron Maiden. \nThese captivating first two records made good on the band’s promise of sharing their beautiful heritage – indeed\, their lyrics are entirely\, and very deliberately\, all in Mongolian. “If you learn the language and translate our lyrics\, you’ll understand the context even more – the background of why we chose these words\,” explains frontman Gala\, who is the group’s throat singer and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) player. “Hopefully we will encourage people to speak more Mongolian and become interested Mongolian culture. It’s a very rich culture and it needs to be represented.” \nNow\, as The HU gear up for the release of their highly-anticipated third album in 2026\, they’re taking things even further. Knuckling down to work at their second home of Nature Sound Studio in Ulaanbaatar – a place so familiar and comfortable that “sometimes we take off our shoes\, it’s that level of freedom”\, grins Gala – the band have been pushing their limits\, describing this latest work as an “enriched” take on Hunnu Rock. \n“We took our time to do this right\, and I’m so glad that we’re almost ready to release what we have worked on these past few years\,” Gala says. “As well as always staying true to ourselves\, the most important thing for us is longevity. That has been the case since the beginning of the band. We don’t just want a song that will be in the charts for a week and then drop off. We want to create something that will last for decades.” \nIn the more immediate future\, though\, The HU have plotted a busy summer in Europe on their Incarnation tour\, with slots at festivals such as France’s Hellfest\, Germany’s Graspop Metal Meeting and Denmark’s Roskilde. Beyond that\, they hope to return to the States\, and “tour around the world” to celebrate a whole new era of the band. \n“We are focusing on the performances and working out a brand-new setlist\,” teases Gala. “We want to play bigger venues so we can do extensive production\, and bring in some amazing elements of our culture\, and play these ideas to our fans. And\, as well as our third album\, we have some amazing ideas for another album already!”

SUMMARY:Darren Kiely
DESCRIPTION:Darren Kiely’s journey with music has always been driven by something pure. When he picked up a guitar for the first time as a teenager in a small town in Co. Cork\, he did so with the hopes of simply being able to play along to the songs he loved. As he sharpened his skills\, he started to push himself further\, setting himself new challenges – learn a full cover\, play a gig\, then\, eventually\, see if he could write his own song. Throughout this years-long process\, passion and natural curiosity spurred him on. “It was never like\, ‘I’m gonna do this full time’ or ‘I want to play stadiums’\,” he recalls. “It was just one thing led to the next challenge or the next step.” \nIt’s that mindset that has led Kiely to his current position – one of the first artists to be signed to Sony Music Nashville’s non-country imprint\, Free Flight Records\, and winning legions of fans with his emotionally rich\, folk-infused music. Putting out his own music\, though\, wasn’t necessarily always on the cards for the 28-year-old. \nIn 2022\, having gradually built his way up to performing covers gigs at functions and weddings\, he was at a point where he could comfortably make a living – an enviable position\, but one that didn’t leave him fully satisfied. “Somewhere along the path\, I was like\, ‘I don’t want to play cover gigs forever\, but I do want to see if people will listen to my music’\,” he says. \nHe describes writing his own music as something of an emotional awakening. “A lot of the time\, I felt like I was drifting through life\, not really thinking about things\,” he explains. “When you write it down or make a recording and listen back to it\, it really hits you in a way where it’s almost like you’re discovering things about yourself\, but talking to yourself as well.” \nMaking the move into penning his own material was fueled by a feeling that he not only had something to say\, but that there was a value in what he wanted to express\, too. “In the music I listened to growing up\, there were loads of things I learned about myself and about life\,” Kiely says. “But I also thought\, ‘There’s some songs that have never talked about this\, or my experiences\, or how I view things.” \nSo far\, the Irish musician has proved himself right. Across his releases so far\, he’s shared a fresh perspective on timeless tales of making amends to those you’ve hurt but have stuck by you (‘Mom & Dad’) and self-doubt (‘How Could You Love Me’)\, and opened up about subjects rarely broached in music. ‘Avalon’ is a case in point for the latter – a rousing piece of folk-rock that explores the musician’s relationship with his home country and why he felt he had to leave.   “This will always be my home / I see fields of green\,” he sings. “But I can’t find a place to grow / Or the light.” \nThese days\, Kiely is based in Nashville\, but first left Ireland for New York in 2019. It was there he stumbled into playing gigs – an experience cut short by the pandemic\, which sent him back home. Once the borders re-opened\, he headed back to NYC to pick up where he left off\, securing a desk job at an accounting firm but his focus firmly on developing his artistry. “It’s a really tough place and it toughened me up an awful lot\,” he says of his time in the city. “I just got used to grafting and getting beat up a little bit by the place and coming back for more. Music’s like that – there’s a lot of great things\, but in between them\, there’s a lot of times where you’re like\, ‘Alright\, I have to go again and again’. It’s like you’re trying to write a song and it’s not as good as you want it to be\, but you have to go again.” \nAs much as New York taught him\, though\, it also left him yearning for something – a community and scene of like-minded musicians to grow and learn with. So\, in 2023\, he upped sticks to Nashville after hearing about the songwriting scene in the city. What Kiely has found since making the move is not only keeping him productive and creative\, but also aligns with his original ethos when he was first learning to play guitar. “I’m a very small fish in a big pond here\,” he smiles. “I like that. If I’m around who I think are the best\, I can try and learn a little bit from them and try and get a little bit better.” \nYou can hear that commitment to growth across his catalogue so far\, from debut single ‘How Could You Love Me’ – which landed a place on Ireland’s top 50 viral charts – to his 2023 debut EP\, ‘Lost’. The latter depicted its creator’s search for his place in both music and the world around him\, pushing through imposter syndrome and moments of uncertainty. The key to the record – its successor\, 2024’s ‘From The Dark’ EP – isn’t the moments of darkness\, though\, but the hope that lingers throughout the songs. “There’s probably a few songs that don’t have too much hope\, but there’s a tinge of it everywhere because I don’t want to wallow in anything or make things overly negative\,” he reasons. “For me\, there is that little bit of hope in every situation.” \nKiely’s upcoming music continues his knack for making distinctive folk-pop with something to say. ‘Find It In You’\, a driving\, uplifting song that finds him reassuring a partner who’s not ready for a relationship that he’ll wait for them: “Whenever your walls fall down and it’s love that you need / I hope you can find it in you to find it in me\,” he shares.  The contemplative ‘Married On My Phone’ deals with the relatable experience of witnessing someone you used to know going through big life milestones via your phone screen. “I saw someone I knew from years ago had got married via Instagram and I was just thinking\, ‘Isn’t it crazy that you see significant events of people you’ve lost touch with [like this]?’ What happens if\, one day\, you end up seeing the person in your current relationship get married on Instagram?” For Kiely\, that song is so different to anything he’s written before – and intentionally so: “I just wanted to hit the nail on the head of all the modern things I don’t really like.” \n‘Old And Grey’\, meanwhile\, harks back to his youth of playing traditional Irish music – experiences that still occasionally peek through in his music today. Midway through\, it surges with a swell of group vocals\, intertwining with a melancholy fiddle melody to create something poignant and powerful. “I don’t sing Irish folk songs really\, but I wanted to have a song that feels like it could be playing in a pub back home\, and I really want to play that fiddle part live\,” he says. \nThese songs are a testament to an artist who has always refused to get complacent or let his music become stagnant. They expand his sonic tapestry\, pushing him into new pockets of sound while keeping his core DNA intact. “I’m not a band that has the same sound for every song\,” he says. “It can sound like different things. That’s one thing that I think has changed in how I’m writing music now – it’s me\, but there’s a different sound. I think that’s important.” \nNo matter how much success Kiely has achieved so far – from gaining traction from his early self-released singles to a recent sold-out headline tour – he’s remaining true to those pure intentions he started out with. As he continues to push himself forward and give himself new challenges\, his ambitions are staying humble. “I just want to sing songs that I believe in\,” he says. “Songs that people can sense that I care about them and what I’m singing is really authentic and honest.”

SUMMARY:Jake Xerxes Fussell
DESCRIPTION:Reared in Georgia and now settled in North Carolina\, Jake Xerxes Fussell has established himself as a devoted listener and contemplative interpreter of a vast array of so-called folk songs\, lovingly sourced from a personal store of favorites. He has released five studio albums to-date\, beginning with his self-titled debut album\, released by Paradise of Bachelors in 2015. \n\nHis most recent studio album When I’m Called was produced by James Elkington and features the playing of Ben Whiteley (The Weather Station)\, Joe Westerlund (Bon Iver\, Califone)\, and others. Blake Mills contributes guitars on several tracks. Joan Shelley and Robin Holcomb provide backing vocals. In their review of the record\, Pitchfork wrote: “No other American singer is repurposing our old folk scripts with so much authority or ingenuity.”  \n\nMore recently\, Fussell and Elkington collaborated on the music for Rebuilding – a feature film directed by Max Walker-Silverman and starring Josh O’Connor. A soundtrack of the same name was released on Fat Possum Records in November 2025. \n\n“Critics love to call things unclassifiable\, which can sometimes feel like a subtle admission of defeat. But Jake Xerxes Fussell’s music\, which draws heavily from nineteenth- and twentieth-century vernacular folk songs and archival field recordings\, is idiomatic\, and entirely his own…he is a folksinger in the truest sense\, collecting ideas and melodies and lyrics from distant and disparate traditions\, looking for the things that unite us in our humanity.” – The New Yorker \n\n“(Fussell) is one of the great magpies of American song\, collecting forgotten\, tarnished gems with a folklorist’s zeal…” – The Guardian

SUMMARY:Asher White
DESCRIPTION:Today\, Asher White\, the 25-year-old NYC-by-way-of-Rhode Island polymath behind some of the most inventive\, singular music in recent years\, announces her first ever run of UK/EU tour dates for Autumn 2026. Running through October and November 2026\, the shows take White across the UK and Ireland\, including a stop at Pitchfork London. \nIt marks the culmination of a prolific period following the release of her latest album 8 Tips For Full Catastrophe Living via Joyful Noise. The album has been widely praised for its fearless genre collision and conceptual scope\, with outlets including Pitchfork\, Rolling Stone\, NPR and Stereogum highlighting White’s distinctive creative voice. \n8 Tips For Full Catastrophe Living unfolds as a fractured self-help guide\, blending doom metal\, bossa nova\, power pop and industrial techno into a series of sonic collages. Across the record\, White explores themes of emotional collapse\, survival\, and absurdity in modern life\, delivered through surreal character studies and shifting musical forms. \nHer recent work has also included a full-length reimagining of Jessica Pratt’s debut album\, which received praise for its expansive reinterpretation of the original material\, as well as new single Nightingale Version (Sailor’s Moon)\, further showcasing her evolving songwriting and experimental approach. \n“White has a talent for melding elements that ought to sound out of place together\, instead making them seem right at home.”\nPitchfork \n“Younger artists have been obliterating genres for years\, but few can keep you guessing or leave you wanting more quite like Asher White.”\nNPR \n“Asher White is an Alex G-level prolific talent… it still feels like we’re only at the beginning of Asher White’s story.”\nStereogum

SUMMARY:Paahto & The Bull
DESCRIPTION:Paahto & The Bull is the guitar-duo project of Patrick ‘Paahto’ Cummins and John Francis Flynn. Having met and played together since 2011 and having cut their teeth at The Maple Hotel on Dublin’s Gardiner Street\, Paahto and John helped form the Irish traditional group Skipper’s Alley in 2013 and would remain long-term sparring partners and an integral cog in Dublin’s traditional and folk music communities. Once There Was A King was another of their musical endeavours which reached into a progressive musical space in its short-lived timespan. However\, as with any collaboration between these two players\, Paahto & The Bull is beyond a meeting of two musical minds and encompasses a very personal element. \nDuring the covid-19 pandemic\, the pair experimented with music on two guitars inspired by Paahto’s interest in bluegrass flat-picking and John’s very original approach to accompaniment. Beginning with just an Instagram page to post some amateur material\, Paahto & The Bull decided to take the project more seriously and gradually worked towards recording an album with the help of Brendan Jenkinson and Ben Rawlins. The ethos for the duo has always been to focus on simplicity and only features the musicians playing their guitars despite them both being multi- instrumentalists and singers. \nThe music of Paahto & The Bull is a very honest reflection of the unique kind of sound that Cummins and Flynn have consistently created with each other over the past fifteen years and\, although one might have expected their initial release to be a banjo/guitar product\, the lateral thinking that went into choosing a guitar duet is also very in line with the particular flavour of progressive that these lads strive for. The statement is firm: ‘This is what we play. This is how we play. And this is what we are going to play.’ Having signed with Claddagh Records in late 2025\, Paahto & The Bull will be releasing their debut album during 2026.

SUMMARY:Foy Vance: The Wake World Tour
DESCRIPTION:The tour will kick off in Zurich\, Switzerland\, on 3rd September and wrap in Boston\, MA\, on 1st May\, 2027. The world tour will start in Europe and the UK with stops including Berlin\, Paris\, Copenhagen\, Edinburgh\, London (two nights at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire) and Dublin. The US portion includes Los Angeles (two nights)\, Denver\, Nashville\, Chicago\, Washington D.C. and New York City. \nOut 13 March via Rounder Records\, The Wake marks the completion of a 26-year grief journey\, defined by Vance’s tireless soul-searching and life-altering revelation to create a series of seven albums following the passing of his father in 1999. He has carried one of his father’s favourite sayings –“Give me the boy until he is 7\, and I will show you the man”– like a compass eversince\, and The Wake finds Vance at the seventh album\, marking the end (or beginning) of a Chapter. \nProduced by Ethan Johns (the Brit Award–winning producer known for his work with Paul McCartney\, Ray LaMontagne\, and more)\, the 13-track album brings Vance’s gritty vocal work to a potent convergence of folk\, soul\, and Southern blues\, instilling every moment with unbridled vitality. At turns devastating\, ecstatic and wildly illuminating\, The Wake carries a title that reflects both sorrow and the promise of healing\, and reveals an artist highly attuned to the task of preserving the human spirit in an often-unforgiving world. \nThe Wake World Tour will follow a series of special record store performances and intimate\, sold-out album release shows in March. Plus\, he’ll play a special hometown show\, A Celebration of Life with Foy Vance\, at Custom House Square in Belfast in August. \nAcross the decades\, Vance has built a body of work where emotional immediacy meets sweeping\, soulful sound — stories told with a kind of fearlessness and fragile humanity that feel hand-carved from his own life. Albums like Joy of Nothing\, From Muscle Shoals\, Signs of Life\, and To Memphis have shaped his singular blend of Americana\, folk\, and soul\, drawing praise from Rolling Stone\, NPR\, and Billboard\, and earning admiration from artists including Ed Sheeran\, Bonnie Raitt\, Kacey Musgraves\, and Sir Elton John.

SUMMARY:Doctor Millar
DESCRIPTION:Seán Millar AKA Doctor Millar is\, as many know\, something of a legend. \n“An Irish national treasure. The poet Laureate of Dublin’s dark side” – The Irish Times\n“Ireland’s Greatest Songwriter” – Hotpress Magazine\n“Irelands best lyricist” – The RTE Guide \nSean Millar will do a spoken word show on Thursday 29th October 2026\, in Little Whelans. Fans of Sean’s long form Facebook posts are in for a treat as he uses Halloween to backdrop ideas around transformation\, transgression\, power\, music\, spirituality\, and death. \n  \nEach of the five spoken word pieces will dovetail with a song illustrating and supporting the text\, some by Sean and one or two (very) unexpected covers. \n“ I see this as a way to bring together my different worlds. It’s always been strange to me that my music fans are almost completely unaware of my theatre work and community work and vice versa. Writing\, Music and Performance\, politics and society\, spirituality and art\, these are the driving forces of my working life. I hope to see people from each of those worlds there\, and I’ll do my best to make it entertaining too. \nOver the years I’ve been approached by many people who tell me how much they love my prose writing\, but I don’t publish books\, so this is for them as much as anything.” \nSeán is a musician\, storyteller\, writer and global award winning theatre composer for ‘Shame’ and the off-Broadway smash ‘Silver Stars’. A musician’s musician\, and pretty much one of a kind. His shows are close-up and intimate by design. \nIn 2026\, he released his 6th solo studio album ‘I Am Vermin’ (as usual some friends stepped in to help) and\, fair to say\, he’s lost none of his relatable edge.
