Curated & hosted by Dublin writer Steve O’Toole. \n\n\n\n\nThe James Joyce Centre and The Write Stuff are delighted to announce our joint collaboration with Dublin by Dusk\, in partnership with the Department of Culture Communications and Sport\, Fáilte Ireland\, Dublin City Council\, and Dublin Town. At each gathering\, storytellers\, and poets\, are joined by showcase musicians\, working to a pre-agreed theme. Thus\, delivering a continuous\, collaborative flow of original work. Please note: This is a very limited ticketed event. \nSteve O’Toole Is a street stalking creative\, poet\, storyteller\, artist\, and the creative force behind The Write Stuff. Not one to sit on the fence\, Steve firmly wears both his heart & mind on his sleeve\, delivering forceful versed commentary by the page full. Originally performing in the mid 90’s as support to Irish writer ‘Pat Ingoldsby’. It was early 2023\, when Steve returned after a far too long hiatus. Since then\, he has gone on to read & perform at The International Literary Festival\, The Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival\, The Bram Stoker Festival\, Culture Nights\, Craicly Stories\, and curate & host The Write Stuff gatherings at Chapters Bookstore. \nTwo Prong – John Fleming and Niall Toner Jr of The Prongs Dubliners John Fleming and Niall Toner Jr have been friends since their teenage years. Fleming is an award-winning radio dramatist who has written half a dozen radio plays broadcast by RTE and BBC\, along with other forms of fiction including the critically acclaimed London migrant novel The Now Now Express. Toner Jr is a renowned musician\, songwriter and soundscape designer who has played and toured in bands since the 1980s such as Those Handsome Devils\, The Dixons\, The Cajun Kings and Strand. This show is a rare opportunity to catch The Prongs in their special\, intimate two-man format (Two-Prong). Away from the bombast of their full six-piece band iteration\, Fleming and Toner will perform a curated menu of their most sharply Dublin-infused work along with readings from The Now Now Express novel from which The Prongs first crawled as fictional entities. Two-Prong promises a Telecaster/microphone/backing film projection performance worthy of the James Joyce-linked North Great Georges Street venue hosting this extraordinary evening with The Write Stuff. Come enter the tuneful and emotive audio/visual world of The Prongs. \nKaycii is an emerging hip hop artist and lyricist from Crumlin\, Dublin\, known for his raw storytelling\, dark imagery and vocal aggression. His music combines introspective lyricism with hard-hitting boom bap influences\, exploring themes of survival\, identity\, trauma\, addiction\, and ambition. Known for his intense delivery and poetic writing style\, his work reflects both the grit of inner-city Dublin and a deep passion for classic hip hop culture. Working on his debut project and side projects\, Kaycii has been in the background perfecting his craft and preparing for release. \nEddie Winston is an emerging artist. He is a soulful\, and inspiring\, singer-songwriter from Ballymun\, Dublin. Following a hard-fought journey to break free from addiction after 25 years. He crafts a unique blend of folk and contemporary sound\, pairing acoustic guitar with lyrics that confront serious issues like homelessness\, addiction\, and loss. His songs combine diverse musical influences with powerful social commentary\, and his honest and raw storytelling speaks to the struggles of life and the resilience needed to overcome them. \nTom Tierney has performed at Electric Picnic\, the Sceal Collective\, The Fingal Poetry Festival and elsewhere. He has had short fiction published in the Stinging Fly\, Southword\, Howl\, the London Magazine and New Irish Writing alongside non-fiction in Physics World and New Scientist. SUMMARY:Singular Artists presents Have Mercy
DESCRIPTION:Blending the raw emotion of early emo with the weight and clarity of modern rock\, Have Mercy has established a sound that is distinctly their own. Across six studio albums\, the band has demonstrated both artistic growth and unwavering dedication to their craft. \nTheir journey has been marked by both triumph and adversity. A period of instability saw the lineup shift\, but through sobriety\, personal growth\, and renewed purpose\, the core members – Brian Swindle\, Nick Woolford\, Andrew Johnson\, and Steve Wootteon\, reunited in Baltimore\, Maryland\, revitalizing the band with a renewed sense of direction. \nTheir latest album\, the loneliest place I’ve ever been (Rude Records)\, is a powerful and introspective release. Balancing dark\, emotionally driven lyricism with infectious hooks\, the record reflects a pivotal chapter in Swindle’s journey toward sobriety. “It’s the record we always wanted to make\, dark yet hopeful\, polished yet imperfect.” \nWith a renewed lineup and creative energy\, Have Mercy has returned to the global stage\, continuing to solidify their reputation as a compelling and unmissable live act.

SUMMARY:Beavertown Presents: Soundtrack Stories featuring Kean Kavanagh & Minikimono
DESCRIPTION:Two nights. Two pubs. One microphone. Live music\, strange stories and Neck Oil in the heart of Dublin. \n\n\n\nBeavertown is bringing Soundtrack Stories to Dublin this June – a two-night celebration of live music\, storytelling and the strange magic that happens when a room full of cool people get together over a pint. \nInspired by Ireland’s rich pub culture\, we’re taking over Egan’s and The Globe\, where the crowd is every bit as important as the artists on stage. Expect live performances from SexyTadhg and Kean Kavanagh\, support from Minikimono\, and plenty of opportunities for stories to take on a life of their own. \nHosted by Bard of Beavertown Meg Reilly\, Soundtrack Stories flips the script by putting storytellers centre stage as the warm-up act\, setting the tone before the live music begins. \nPart gig\, part crowd storytelling experiment\, these are nights designed to be shared. We’ll bring the Neck Oil. You bring the stories. \n  \nFRIDAY 26 JUNE\nThe Globe\, Dublin 2 \nFeaturing Kean Kavanagh + Minikimono \n  \nDoors from 6PM \nStrictly 18+. \nPlease drink responsibly. \nT&Cs\nThis venue has limited capacity and entry is subject to capacity on the night. Duplicate ticket orders may be cancelled. Each ticket will include two complimentary half pints on Beavertown’s Neck Oil Session IPA.

SUMMARY:MELATON
DESCRIPTION:In the summer of 1997 a group of Dublin school friends came together to form a band inspired by the music that had been soundtracking their teenage years. \nAlthough\, why Jonathan Black\, Andrew Brennan\, Declan Garvey and Anthony Mooney – who were inspired to make music by Radiohead\, Smashing Pumpkins and Jeff Buckley chose the band name ‘Purple Haze’ – remains a mystery to this day. \nShortly after forming – a much-needed change of name and lead singer occurred and Melaton was born. \nLed by singer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Slott\, the five friends quickly realised that they could write their own songs and by 2001 were the centre of a major label bidding war\, with the band eventually signing to Sony UK. Much to the delight of the band members’ parents\, the bidding war coincided with the lead up to their final school exams\, with the Sony deal signed in May 2001\, weeks before their leaving certificate. \nShortly after www.melaton.ie was set up and a CD was promised to anyone who logged on that year. “We initially said we would do 2\,000 of them and we thought that would do us for the year\,” Luke remembers\, “but it ended up we had requests for over 7\,000. And we really did make them and send them all out.” \nMelaton went on to release two more EPs – ‘Falling Star’ and ‘Still Water’ and toured extensively throughout the UK and Ireland as well as playing support to Ian Brown\, Elbow and JJ72. At the time their sound was as “…early U2 shot through with the haunting impact that first made us treasure Jeff Buckley. It’s the complex\, ethereal grace of Radiohead with none of the emotional distance.” \nStints with producer Stephen Street (The Smiths\, Blur) at Townhouse Studios in London and with U2 engineer Richard Rainey at St. Catherine’s Court in Bath (the site of the fabled OK Computer recordings) failed to yield the more commercial sound being sought by the record label. Pressure mounted to write more radio friendly singles and by early 2004 Melaton had collapsed under the weight of corporate expectations and the compromising of their creative process. \nAsked why the band chose Sony UK’s offer above any others\, Andrew Brennan says\, “I think they were the only label that weren’t insisting we had to move to London”. \nOver twenty years later\, Melaton are delighted to announce that they have reformed to play a show in Dublin’s Whelan’s on 26th June 2026 in aid of the amazing work done by Focus Ireland.

SUMMARY:James Joyce Centre Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Guides from the James Joyce Centre take you through Dublin\, exploring the history of the city and the various locations described by Ireland’s greatest writer\, James Joyce.\n\nThough Joyce lived most of his life outside of Ireland\, Dublin would provide the backdrop for virtually all of his work. On a stroll around the inner city\, our guide will explain the real-life inspiration behind some of Joyce’s most celebrated writing\, demonstrating just how central the streetscape of the ‘Hibernian metropolis’ was to the author’s life and art. The tour visits such stops as Belvedere College\, the Gresham Hotel\, the James Joyce Statue\, Davy Byrnes\, and the National Library.\n\nThis is an excellent and fun introduction to Joyce in a bustling part of the city.\n\nThe James Joyce Centre offers two tours: Introducing Joyce’s Dublin and Footsteps of Leopold Bloom.\n\nEvery Thursday\, Friday & Saturday at 11 am. Duration 2 hours.\n\nAdmission to the James Joyce Centre is included. \nThe James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.

SUMMARY:ReRuns pre-loved clothes Popup
DESCRIPTION:RERUNS ANNOUNCES ITS 4TH PRELOVED DESIGNER FASHION SALE THIS JUNE AT DAVID MARSHALL SALON\, FADE STREET DUBLIN 2\, AND MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE IT’S FIRST POP UP EVENT!\n\nReruns\, Ireland’s biggest preloved fashion event\, is back this June 27th- 29th – celebrating its first anniversary and the milestone sale of 5\,000 items that might otherwise have ended up in landfill.\nBuy Designer fashion with up to 90% off retail prices with labels such as Tom Ford\, Valentino and Self-Portrait on offer for up to 90% off that have been donated to Reruns to pass on unwanted clothing in an ethical way.\nThe event takes place at David Marshall Salon\, D2 from June 27th–29th\, with ticket proceeds supporting a range of Irish charities.\nTickets go on sale this Friday May 22nd on Eventbrite\nPriced from €3.99 with a percentage of ticket sales going to various Irish charities.\n\nFollowing three hugely successful pop-up events\, Reruns\, Ireland’s biggest preloved fashion pop-up sale\, is returning to David Marshall Hair Salon\, Fade Street\, this June for its fourth event. The return also marks a major milestone for the brand as Reruns celebrates its first anniversary and the sale of more than 5\,000 preloved fashion items that may otherwise have ended up in landfill or been disposed of through less sustainable means.\nBy giving premium fashion a second life\, Reruns continues to champion a more circular and conscious approach to retail. Based on textile reuse industry estimates of approximately 3kg of CO2 emissions saved per reused garment\, the resale of 5\,000 items may have helped prevent up to 15 tonnes of carbon emissions while significantly reducing fashion waste.\nWHAT CAN SHOPPERS EXPECT OVER THE 3 DAYS?\nTaking place on June 27th\, 28th and 29th\, the three-day event will feature a curated edit of designer and premium fashion at up to 90% off original retail prices\, proving that shopping sustainably does not mean compromising on style.\nShoppers can expect to discover coveted brands including Valentino\, Self-Portrait and Victoria Beckham alongside a huge selection of womenswear\, menswear\, childrenswear and homeware.\nThe event will be hosted by celebrity stylist and Reruns ambassador Rosalind Lipsett\, who will be on hand throughout the weekend offering styling advice\, trend inspiration and helping shoppers discover standout preloved finds.\nSpeaking about Reruns coming back for the forth time\, celebrity stylist and Reruns Ambassador Rosalind Lipsett says: “Reruns is officially good for your wallet and for the earth. We’re creating a fashion experience where customers can access incredible brands at accessible prices while also making a positive environmental impact.”\n\n100% GENUINE DESIGNER STOCK – WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?\nReruns sources its stock from major fashion retailers and fashion corporates choosing a more ethical alternative to disposing of returned or slightly imperfect goods. By redirecting these items back into circulation\, the pop-up helps reduce unnecessary fashion waste while giving premium products a second chance.\nResearch from textile reuse organisations shows that buying preloved fashion instead of new can reduce carbon emissions by an average of 25%\, with reused garments having a dramatically lower environmental impact than newly manufactured clothing.\nRERUNS BACKS VARIOUS IRISH CHARITIES\nIn addition to its sustainability mission\, Reruns also gives back locally\, donating a percentage of ticket sales to various Irish charities.\nReruns has quickly established itself as one of Ireland’s fastest-growing fashion resale events\, combining designer fashion\, sustainability and accessible pricing in a unique retail experience.\nWith limited capacity and previous events selling out quickly\, shoppers are encouraged to book tickets early.

SUMMARY:SUPERCHUNK
DESCRIPTION:‘90s’ Indie rock innovators Superchunk play Button Factory on Saturday the 27th of June – their first Irish show in 25 years. \n\nAfter almost four decades\, the North Carolina indie rock stalwarts remain one of those rare bands where the consensus\, amongst both critics and longtime fans\, is that their recent material rivals their beloved catalog—no small feat when that catalog includes classic indie albums like 1991’s No Pocky for Kitty and 1994’s Foolish\, and indelible garage-punk anthems like “Slack Motherfucker” and “Hyper Enough.” – SPIN Magazine \n  \n“Old habits die hard. “No Hope” applies Superchunk’s lifelong commitment to punk and indie-rock to the present moment: “Here we are singing ‘no hope\, hope\, no hope\, no hope\,’” declares Mac McCaughan\, Superchunk’s founder and leader since 1989\,” New York Times

SUMMARY:STIPE: A TRIBUTE TO R.E.M.
DESCRIPTION:R.E.M. formed in 1980\, in Athens\, Georgia and by the mid-nineties earned the tagline ‘the biggest band on the planet’ from the music press. \nThey pioneered the alternative rock scene with relentless touring and a distinctive sound and entered the 90s mainstream without compromising their artistic vision. They remain as relevant today as ever. \nTheir music is instantly recognisable: ringing guitar lines\, tasteful and clinical drumming\, melodic bass\, and sublime harmonies coupled with poetic (and political) lead vocals. \nContinuing as a trio after the departure of drummer Bill Berry in 1997\, R.E.M. broke up in September 2011\, just as they had started: as friends. They have ruled out ever re-forming. \nR.E.M. by Stipe\, the Definitive Tribute reflect the core of R.E.M.: four highly-experienced musicians who embody Berry\, Buck\, Mills and Stipe\, capturing the presence and performances of the band. \nAs huge fans of the band they are committed to holding true to the sound and overall aesthetic of R.E.M.\, so that fans\, old and new\, can experience the magic of hearing these songs played live with care\, conviction\, and affection. \nThey are joined on stage\, as R.E.M. were\, by additional musicians to help bring album tracks to life on stage. Each set-list is different\, but every show celebrates this timeless music for fans of R.E.M. \nHere is just a sample of what fans say about R.E.M. by Stipe\, the Definitive Tribute: \nIf you miss R.E.M. (or if you never saw them live) then Stipe are the next best thing to R.E.M. being back on tour.

In 2024\, he made his network television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers\, followed by performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic series and Later…with Jools Holland. Ahead of the one-year anniversary of søn of dad\, Wilson Jr. was also profiled in an extensive feature for CBS Saturday Morning. \nIn 2025\, Wilson Jr. released a deluxe edition of his debut album that featured a moving interpretation of “Stand By Me” that has been streamed tens of millions of times\, and in April\, he performed the national anthem live during the nationally televised broadcast of the 2025 NFL Draft. He also co-wrote and collaborated with Shaboozey on “Took A Walk\,” which was featured in the critically-acclaimed film The Long Walk based on Stephen King’s novel. Last November\, he earned his first CMA Award nomination for New Artist of the Year and played twice on the broadcast – a moving performance of his collaboration with Shaboozey and a star-making rendition of “Stand By Me.”

SUMMARY:Chezile
DESCRIPTION:Born in Albuquerque and raised in a family of Mexican regional musicians\, Alejandro Sanchez\, better known as Chezile\, has experienced a meteoric rise over the past few years. His 2023 psych-pop single ‘Beanie’ exploded on TikTok\, earning more than 1.6 million monthly listeners in under two months and transforming his life almost overnight. At the time\, Sanchez was living out of his car in Los Angeles; within weeks he was fielding calls from record labels and building a rapidly growing global fanbase. \nNow based in San Diego\, the multi-instrumentalist has continued to carve out a distinctive sound that blends dreamy\, reverberated guitar with a sentimental strain of indie rock. His music creates a hazy\, introspective world that has resonated deeply with listeners online and beyond. \nFollowing the melancholic introspection of his previous EP 47\, Chezile’s newer material turns inward in a different way\, drawing on childhood memories of skateboarding through the deserts of New Mexico and reflecting on how to stay grounded while navigating sudden success. The result is a body of work that balances vulnerability with warmth\, pairing intimate storytelling with immersive sonic textures.

SUMMARY:Common Ground @ EPIC
DESCRIPTION:Common Ground: Ireland and the EU is a new multimedia exhibition exploring how Ireland’s membership of the European Union has shaped the country socially\, culturally and economically over the past few decades. The exhibition also looks at the impact Ireland has had across Europe\, telling stories of migration\, opportunity\, equality\, education and cultural exchange through immersive displays and personal stories. \n  \n\n\nIreland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) – as the EU was then known – on January 1\, 1973\, after a referendum endorsed by 83% of voters. It was then among the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in western Europe\, with a population just over half of its current size. \nIreland’s accession proved to be the most consequential economic milestone in the half century since Irish independence\, but it also set in motion far-reaching social and cultural change. EU legislation has driven improvements in workers’ rights\, for example\, and set binding targets for climate action. Irish people have studied and built new lives across Europe\, while many Europeans have since made their homes here in Ireland. \nAs Ireland assumes the EU presidency in 2026\, this new multimedia exhibition explores how a small island nation has extended its influence across Europe\, and how Europe\, in turn\, has profoundly shaped modern Ireland. \nFeatured Stories:\nEqual Pay \nStudying Abroad \nAn Ghaeilge \nEntry to this exhibition is included in general admission tickets.
