SUMMARY:Bernard O’Shea: ‘Desperate House Husband’
DESCRIPTION:After years of being told what to do by his wife\, his children\, and the producers of Dancing with the Stars\, Bernard is finally stepping out of the laundry room and onto the stage to share his hilarious struggles with midlife\, marriage\, and the sheer exhaustion of modern domesticity. \n‘Desperate House Husband’ finds the co-creator of the cult-hit Republic of Telly and star of Bridget & Eamon at his most vulnerable and vitriolic. \nFrom the perils of the school run to the mystery of why he can never find anything in the fridge\, O’Shea delivers a high-octane performance that proves he is still the king of the “relatable catastrophe.” \n“Bernard O’Shea is a comedic force of nature\,” says a representative for Lisa Richards. “In ‘Desperate House Husband\,’ he leans into the chaos of his daily life\, finding the universal humor in the mundane. Whether you are a parent\, a partner\, or just someone who enjoys watching a man slowly lose his mind in suburbia\, this show is for you.” \nBernard O’Shea is one of Ireland’s most beloved comedians and broadcasters. He first burst onto the scene with his uniquely frenetic stand-up style before becoming a household name as the co-host of RTÉ’s Republic of Telly. He went on to co-write and star in the award-winning sitcom Bridget & Eamon\, and won the hearts of the nation during a memorable stint on Dancing with the Stars. \nAn accomplished author\, Bernard has penned the best-selling books My Noisy 1980s Childhood and Man v Child. He is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish comedy today. \nTickets for this one-night-only event are expected to sell fast. Don’t miss your chance to see Bernard O’Shea attempt to reclaim his dignity (and perhaps some peace and quiet) on the legendary 3Olympia stage.

SUMMARY:Knox (+ Modernlove)
DESCRIPTION:Knox grew up in Ohio and fell in love with music as a kid\, obsessing over emo bands like Fall Out Boy\, All-American Rejects\, Boys Like Girls\, Panic! At The Disco or Hawthorne Heights. \nAfter he made the move to Nashville in 2019\, working as a songwriter and honing his craft\, he eventually released his own solo career\, releasing “Sneakers”\, which surpassed 49 million Spotify streams. Everything kicked into high gear with the arrival of “Not The 1975” though. It peaked in the Top 15 of the Adult Pop Airplay Chart\, gathered 63 million-plus streams\, and catapulted the success of his 2025 debut LP\, Going\, Going\, Gone. Of the latter\, Melodic Magazine raved\, “The debut is impressive in length and lyrical volume\,” and GRAMMY.com promised\, “Knox’s debut album\, Going\, Going\, Gone\, perfectly captures the essence of his artistry.” Marveling at his sold-out Webster Hall show\, Knox recalled\, “the crowd down on the floor generated the kind of palpable electricity reserved for artists on the cusp of the proverbial rocket ship.” \nHe also graced the bills of festivals such as Lollapalooza and Hangout Fest\, appeared on tracks with Bilmuri and HARDY\, and earned co-signs from Ed Sheeran and Matty Healy. After piling up hundreds of millions of streams\, selling out shows\, and earning critical acclaim\, he returns home sonically and emotionally on his second full-length album\, My Midwest Best [Atlantic Records].

SUMMARY:South Arcade
DESCRIPTION:Like crossing live wires\, South Arcade generate pure electricity by plugging pop-punk\, rock\, nu-metal\, and alternative into an eclectic and ecstatic hybrid without comparison. Selling out shows worldwide and stacking up over 150 million streams\, the Oxford\, UK quartet Harmony Cavelle [vocals]\, Harry Winks [guitar]\, Cody Jones [drums]\, and Ollie Green [bass]—have vaulted to the doorstep of global stardom powered by hyper-charged performances and the kind of generational bangers that could light up TikTok or Warped Tour and OZZfest in the same weekend. \nAs the story goes\, childhood friends Harmony and Harry grew up together and performed in a succession of groups. While attending university\, they posted an ad in search of kindred spirits interested in conjuring a sound akin to “Royal Blood meets Charli xcx.” Cody and Ollie would dutifully heed the call\, locking South Arcade’s lineup in place during 2022. A diligent grind saw them gain traction with the singles like “DANGER” and “Nepo Baby\,” paving the way for the standout 2005 EP in 2024\, which boasted a trio of hits that have each eclipsed 20M streams and counting in “HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER” (20M+)\, “stone cold summer” (24M+)\, and title track “2005” (26M+). The band only increased their momentum with a string of high energy singles (“Supermodels\,” “FEAR OF HEIGHTS\,” and “Drive Myself Home”) released individually throughout 2025 before being gathered together alongside brand new tracks “Bleed Out” and the surprisingly intimate “Blood Runs Warm” on their PLAY EP at the end of the year. \nOn both sides of the pond\, unanimous tastemaker praise has followed in the collective’s wake. Alternative Press pegged them among “26 of the most exciting rising artists to watch in 2026\,” going on to christen them “a formidable facet of the future pop-punk landscape.” Beyond a popular Audiotree Live performance and love from BBC Radio 1\, KERRANG! assured\, “given their status as a band on the tip of many tongues – that more capacious rooms beckon\,” and DORK marvelled at how\, “South Arcade are already speeding through the boss levels.” They’ve already sold out tours on multiple continents – including their first ever North American headline run last fall – and have a packed 2026 ahead of them: supporting 5 Seconds of Summer on their arena tour in the UK and Europe this spring; hitting festival stages at Download and TRSMT\, and returning stateside for Summer School ‘26 and the Vans Warped Tour.

SUMMARY:Ariel Posen
DESCRIPTION:For Ariel Posen\, songwriting and guitar playing have always gone hand-in-hand. He has spent a decade building a bridge between those two worlds\, balancing his work as an acclaimed instrumentalist\, including collaborations with artists ranging from John Mayer to Tom Jones\, with solo albums rooted in melody and autobiographical storytelling. The result is a career that is every bit as diverse as his music. With performances at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival\, his own Fender Stratocaster signature model\, and a powerful voice that matches his fretwork\, Posen continues to explore uncharted territory\, blurring the lines between genre and generation along the way. \nHis latest album\, Bannatyne\, sees Posen return to the place where everything began. Named after an avenue in his hometown of Winnipeg\, Manitoba\, the record reflects on the past while embracing the future\, combining larger-than-life guitar riffs and 1990s rock influences with the groove-driven textures and sonic exploration that have become hallmarks of his work. \n  \n“This is an album about coming home\,” says Posen. “It’s about looking back and appreciating where you come from\, even as you’re heading somewhere new.” \nCo-produced alongside longtime collaborator Murray Pulver\, Bannatyne is a powerful statement from an artist continually evolving his craft. The album features guest appearances from City and Colour and Kathleen Edwards\, while showcasing the dynamic songwriting\, expressive guitar work and emotional honesty that have defined Posen’s solo career. \nFollowing acclaimed releases including How Long\, Headway\, Reasons Why and the instrumental Mile End series\, Bannatyne finds Posen embracing a rawer and more instinctive approach. \n“Every record is the sound of me finding myself\, more and more\,” he says. “I’m not just a songwriter and I’m not just a guitarist. I’m both of those things.” \nRenowned for his electrifying live performances\, Posen has earned praise from audiences and critics alike\, with Rolling Stone describing him as “a modern-day guitar hero.” \nFans can expect an evening of masterful musicianship\, compelling storytelling and songs drawn from across his celebrated catalogue when he arrives at Whelan’s next February.

SUMMARY:Saxon
DESCRIPTION:Adding to the excitement\, the band will revive their legendary 30-foot mechanised Eagle for all UK and Ireland shows\, with the exception of Cardiff due to venue restrictions. Fans can also expect the return of Saxon’s celebrated Castles & Eagles stage production\, promising one of the most spectacular live presentations in the band’s history. \nOriginally constructed in the early 1980s as Saxon prepared to tour their seminal album Denim and Leather\, the iconic Eagle was built by Midlands-based company LSD using airport runway landing lights. It made its first appearance during a pre-tour rehearsal in London before becoming an enduring symbol of the band. \nTowering above audiences during Saxon’s massive arena tours\, the emblematic Eagle quickly became Saxon’s mascot and inspired the title of their acclaimed 1982 UK Top 5 live album\, The Eagle Has Landed\, leading to fans requesting its presence ever since. \n“We wanted to make the Gods of Thunder UK & Ireland tour extra special\,” comments founding member and front man Biff Byford. “And what better way than to fly our beloved Saxon Eagle again… Get ready for take-off!” \nWith a new world tour on the horizon and their highly anticipated 25th studio album on Silver Lining Music waiting in the wings for an early 2027 release\, Saxon show no signs of slowing down as they continue to fly the flag for British heavy metal around the globe.

SUMMARY:Susan Calman
DESCRIPTION:Susan Calman hasn’t been on tour in ten years\, but now she’s back with a brand-new show. A decade older\, but not necessarily wiser\, Susan has found herself in some improbable situations over the years. Tall tales is a show about Cruising\, driving tanks\, cats and getting older. You might have seen her on the television or heard her on the radio but the absolute best way to see her is live on stage. You won’t believe how short she really is. Prepare yourself for an evening of barely believable stories\, laughter and probably some dancing. \nAs seen on Grand Day Out\, Cruising with Susan Calman\, QI\, House of Games and (a long time ago) Strictly Come Dancing.

SUMMARY:Iceage
DESCRIPTION:Foggy Notions is proud to present Iceage live at Whelan’s Dublin on Friday 19th February 2027. Tickets on general sale Friday 12th June at 10:00. \nOver 18 years and five studio albums\, with each evolutionary jump and a new vein of existing\, Iceage have worked inside the idea of collapse. That collapse\, or the thrill of being close to it\, was a way of playing\, singing and writing—a tumbling through life in song\, catching it as it\nfalls. Throughout the Danes’ sixth studio album\, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter\, there’s another layer of sparkle to the band. \nPassion and romantic love has typically framed Iceage’s songs as a form of resistance\, yet throughout For Love of Grace & the Hereafter\, it\nflows pure and unafraid. It’s both fun and as serious as ever\, growing and glowing through love. Produced and mixed by the band (Elias\nRønnenfelt\, Dan Kjær Nielsen\, Jakob Tvilling Pless\, Johan S. Weith\, and Casper Morilla Fernandez) and Nis Bysted\, the album is bright and\nenergetic. “The first songs started emerging immediately after making Heavy Glory\,” Rønnenfelt mentions\, referring to his 2024 solo album.\n“Having had an outlet for stripped-back balladry\, it felt like the right thing to channel a more ferocious side of ourselves for the band’s next\nstep.” \nThis next step sounds like running\, but in a new direction; running to be somewhere and with someone\, rather than running away or into the fire.

SUMMARY:Singular artist: THE BONES OF J.R. JONES
DESCRIPTION:Jonathon Linaberry looks back on Radio Waves\, his sixth album as The Bones Of J.R. Jones\, but there’s more than just nostalgia at play. Recorded with producer Robbie Lackritz (Feist\, Bahamas)\, the collection is moody and hypnotic\, drawing on the sonic landscape of Linaberry’s youth as it reckons with the doubt and uncertainty of adulthood. The arrangements are entrancing\, built on the tension between acoustic instruments and retro synthesizers\, and Linaberry’s performances are raw and visceral\, at times aching in their vulnerability. Put it all together and you’ve got a poignant exploration of memory and longing delivered by a relentless searcher\, a revelatory work of personal reflection rooted in the endless beauty\, pain\, and chaos of growing up. \nBorn in central New York\, Linaberry got his start playing in punk bands before becoming enamored with the field recordings of Alan Lomax. He launched The Bones of J.R. Jones in 2012 and began releasing a series of albums and EPs that would land his songs in films and TV shows like True Detective\, Suits\, and Daredevil\, and lead to countless tours across the US and Europe\, including stops everywhere from Telluride Blues to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Along the way\, Linaberry would also share bills with the likes of The Wallflowers\, G. Love\, and The Devil Makes Three\, soundtrack an Amazon commercial helmed by Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi\, and earn praise from Billboard\, American Songwriter\, Under the Radar\, and more.

SUMMARY:ALEX ZHANG HUNGTAI
DESCRIPTION:“Expansive epics heavy on spiritual saxophone.” – Bandcamp Daily \n“Barking cries that humanized the composition within a timeless atmosphere.” – Parklife DC \n“A prayer spoken from another world; the image of luminous specks of life seen in the neon lights of Hong Kong\, of a god formed in cracked concrete.” – Tiny Mix Tapes \nAlex Zhang Hungtai released several EPs and three albums as Dirty Beaches on cassette-only labels before releasing his fourth full-length\, Badlands\, in March 2011. Badlands\, unlike Zhang’s earlier work\, included his vocals on most songs. The album was long listed as a nominee for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. Drifters/Love Is The Devil followed in 2013\, pushing further into no wave\, electronic music\, jazz and ambient territory. \n  \nAfter retiring his project Dirty Beaches\, he has been focusing on explorations of improvised music\, experimental jazz\, and his new role as a composer. His newer compositions predominantly works with saxophone\, synthesizers\, percussion and piano\, furthering his research on ritualistic music of liminality. Besides his solo work\, he is also a member of a jazz/experimental trio with Portugese minimalist/architect David Maranha\, and jazz Drummer Gabriel Ferrandini in Lisbon. Zhang currently works as a composer for film soundtracks\, along with acting in independent films. \n  \nOn June 4\, 2017\, Zhang appeared in the fifth\, David Lynch-directed episode of the revived third season of Twin Peaks. Playing with Dean Hurley and Riley Lynch as part of the group Trouble\, Zhang played sax in the scene. The song\, Snake Eyes\, was issued as a single by Sacred Bones Records. \nZhang has also recorded original film soundtracks for several documentaries\, including Water Park (2012) and Who Is Arthur Chu? (2017)\, in addition to directing music videos for himself and others. In 2018\, the film August at Akiko’s had its premiere at film festivals. Directed by Christopher Makoto Yogi and set in Zhang’s childhood home of Hawai’i\, the film features Zhang in a leading role\, and it also features Zhang’s sax based original score\, which was released as a soundtrack album. In 2020\, Zhang collaborated on two full length instrumental albums\, Longone with Tseng Kuo-Hung and Styx with Pavel Milyakov.

SUMMARY:Ezra Collective
DESCRIPTION:Ahead of the release of their latest album Here Because of Hope; British Jazz quintet Ezra Collective have announced details of their 2027 tour\, which includes a show in the 3Olympia Theatre\, Dublin on 5th and 6th March 2027. \nTickets €43.20/€45.70 (Inc booking feels and venue facility fee) from Ticketmaster.ie. Bookings Subject To 12.5% Service Charge Per Ticket (Max €10.50). \nEzra Collective’s Here Because Of Hope is the most ambitious and personal record of their career – conceived as a body of work split into three spiritual and geographical movements\, the album traces the movement of Black people across continents and decades\, from the music of Africa to the rhythms of the Caribbean\, and home to the streets of London. Formed in the youth clubs of London\, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winners Femi Koleoso\, TJ Koleoso\, Joe Armon-Jones\, James Mollison and Ife Ogunjobi have now spent over a decade making jazz joyful\, urgent and undeniable. On Here Because Of Hope\, they push that vision further than ever\, asking a simple but profound question: why does so much Black music born out of pain sound so joyful? Their answer is hope: the belief\, carried across generations and oceans\, that something better is possible. Anchored by collaborations with Pa Salieu\, Lila Iké\, Leona Lewis\, and reaching across the full breadth of the global African diaspora (including America\, where those same African and Caribbean roots gave birth to jazz itself) Here Because Of Hope is a record of remarkable warmth\, ambition and humanity\, and the sound of Britain’s most vital band at the peak of their powers. \nLead single “Only Love” is the perfect introduction to the world of Here Because Of Hope. The song opens with a lone trumpet line that sounds like a signal sent skyward across generations\, continents\, genres before settling into a groove that is pure Ezra Collective: jazz and hip-hop locked together in something immediate and irresistible. \nThe song features UK/Gambian rapper Pa Salieu\, whose verse is a masterclass on the album’s central thesis. He moves through poverty\, incarceration\, and grief (“people I love die while I’m locked up in a cage”) with the unflinching honesty of someone who has lived every word\, before arriving at the only conclusion that makes sense of all of it: “it’s only love deep inside my soul.” It’s a distilled expression of what this record is actually about – the idea that hope isn’t naïve\, it’s what you find on the other side of everything.

SUMMARY:Pokey LaFarge
DESCRIPTION:Singular Artists proudly presents Pokey LaFarge for a headline show in The Button Factory\, Dublin on Tuesday\, 9 March 2027. \nFor two decades\, Pokey LaFarge has walked his own effortlessly cool road as an exceptionally iconoclastic troubadour – forthright\, genuine\, and markedly keen to put it all out there. Rent Money now sees him pushing forward yet again in what can be safely declared his finest collection to date\, both as an heartfelt expression of personal experience and as no-nonsense social commentary. \nWith its twanging guitars\, plucky rhythms\, and undeniably captivating melodies\, the album soars and swings\, its joyous refrains belying the inescapable undercurrent of constant worry and angst that permeates these troubled times. \nAs always\, the Illinois native deftly traverses the genre boundaries\, seamlessly integrating the myriad strains of 20th-century American music with a freewheeling command of earnest songcraft\, inspired performance\, and subversive creativity. Rent Money stands tall as an indisputable high-water mark for Pokey LaFarge – a defining collection from a one-of-a-kind artist of rare ingenuity and uncommon candor\, now as ever\, determinedly crafting a sure-footed brand of deeply human music all his own. \n“People are always going to tell you what they think you should play\,” says Pokey LaFarge\, “what you should sing about\, how you should sound\, how you should look\, how you should act. And I’ve always just been like\, nah. Nope. I’ve just completely gone my own way\, and hopefully I’ve been honest and authentic in the process.” \n“I’m just trying to make music that AI can’t replicate. Things are so homogenised right now. That’s what I’m really\, really\, really resistant to\, especially when it comes to music. I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to conform.”

SUMMARY:Big Country
DESCRIPTION:Big Country are led by Bruce Watson\, one of the founding members of Big Country\, alongside the late\, great guitarist\, singer and songwriter Stuart Adamson. Now\, Big Country announce a 15 date UK tour in November and December 2026 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of ‘The Seer’. ‘The Seer’ was Big Country’s third album and featured the song ‘Look Away’ which was their biggest hit in the UK\, whilst the title track featured a duet between Stuart Adamson and Kate Bush. ‘The Seer’ album itself hit No.2 spot in the UK. All dates will feature support from Evan Peters Presents The Alarm. Between 2011 and 2013 \, following the death of Stuart Adamson\, Evan’s father Mike Peters was the lead vocalist for Big Country as well as The Alarm. \nSeptember will see the release of the ‘Eastworld’ album\, which will be released on CD\, Vinyl and Digital on 18 September through Absolute. The album will be preceded by the first single\, the title track ‘Eastworld’ on 5 June 2026. \nThe album consists of 10 brand new recordings of Big Country songs originally written or co-written by Stuart Adamson\, which were released as demoes or sketches\, but never previously properly developed or lavished with the attention they deserved. With the publication of the well-regarded book on Adamson’s life ‘Stay Alive’ by Scott Rowley\, and a forthcoming documentary\, the spotlight is on the band and the legacy once again. The UK tour kicks off in Middlesbrough on 19 November\, and finishes in Bristol on 10 December. \nBruce Watson said of the ‘Eastworld’ release\, “Some of these songs will be known to the diehards as they have sneaked out from the archives as unfinished demoes or ‘internet only’ releases\, but these are all songs that deserved to be developed further at the time they were written. I am delighted to have now completed them; it is a true privilege to get this newly recorded material out there. All of these songs were sketched out on old reel to reel tape recorders in dingy basements or in small 8 track studios”. \nThe Big Country line-up includes Bruce Watson (guitar/vocals)\, his son Jamie Watson (guitar/vocals)\, Tommie Paxton (vocals/guitar)\, Chris Stones (bass)\, and Reece Dobbin (drums). Jamie has been performing with his father since 2003. His first gig saw him take to the stage with Sex Pistol Glen Matlock and Mick Jones from The Clash as part of The Dead Men Walking tour\, he was only 14 years old. Both Tommie and Chris were fans of Big Country and indeed performed together in Big Country tribute band\, ‘Restless Natives’. Reece was local to the Watsons in Dunfermline and is deemed by Bruce essential to Big Country as the band’s songs require\, “a technical drummer with feel and stamina”. \n2026 is year of anniversaries for Big Country. It will be 45 years since Stuart Adamson left Skids and made good on his promise to start something amazing with Bruce Watson; the latter’s agreement was music’s gain but a loss to the Fife submarine building industry! This year also marks four decades since the band’s third album ‘The Seer’ was released. Tragically\, however\, this year will also mark 25 years since Stuart Adamson passed away. \nTogether with bass player Tony Butler and drummer Mark Brzezicki\, Big Country’s classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ (1983) sold over 2 million copies and earned 3 Grammy nominations. Second album ‘Steeltown’ (1984) went straight to Number 1. In total\, Big Country had 17 top 30 UK singles and made gold and platinum status albums. Hit singles like ‘In A Big Country’\, ‘Wonderland’\, ‘Chance’\, ‘Fields Of Fire’ and the band’s biggest ‘Look Away’\, made them Top Of The Pops regulars\, and they toured with Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant\, David Bowie\, and the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger called them “one of the best opening bands we ever had”. As the songs on ‘Eastworld’ attest\, the music was always uplifting but some of the inspiration and source material\, from war\, global politics and personal circumstance\, was darker than many knew. \nWatson reunited with Butler and Brzezicki in 2007 to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary. Mike Peters from The Alarm along with Jamie joined the band in 2011 and recorded an album of original material called ‘The Journey’. Bruce Watson continues to pay tribute to Stuart and the music they made together. As he says\, “Big Country is my life and a labour of love. I feel a responsibility to continue the story” \nWith this 40th Anniversary tour for ‘The Seer’\, and of course the new album ‘Eastworld’\, Big Country does just that\, and in some style.

SUMMARY:The Delines
DESCRIPTION:Today\, The Delines will be touring The Set Up and a yet to be released new album next March in Ireland with two dates. \n  \nThe Delines were finishing the recording session for our last record\, Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, when I brought in a tune called ‘Walking With His Sleeves Down’. Amy learned it on piano and we recorded it live. Her take was stunning but the song didn’t quite fit with the record. It was lonelier\, more rattled\, and it missed that rudderless romance that inhabits the world of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, so we set it aside. Next I brought in ‘The Meter Keeps Ticking’\, a companion song to ‘JP and Me’. It’s the tale of a woman visiting her grifter husband in a mental hospital and realizing he doesn’t want to leave. It was a band favourite\, we recorded it\, but again it didn’t have that reckless romance that the other tracks seemed to have. So it too was set aside. And then finally\, right before we began mixing Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, I brought in a version of ‘The Reckless Life’. The song worked sonically but again it didn’t feel quite right lyrically. There was a lonely desperation to it and the other two tunes I just mentioned. I realized I was writing songs in the same world as Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom\, but from different a different angle. The three tracks pulled the listener into the lives of the drug-addled\, the grifters\, and the lost\, and not the romantics adrift on the road like Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. \nWhen Luck and Doom came out and we began touring it I still couldn’t stop writing sister songs to it. I think seeing the residue of the opioid epidemic in the US\, the thousands of young people lost to addiction and living in tents and on the streets and in old cars and RVs\, influenced Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom but it’s even more pronounced in The Set Up. ‘Dilaudid Diane’\, ‘The Reckless Life’\, ‘Jumping off in Madras’\, and ‘Walking With His Sleeves Down’ all live in that world. \nI also started bringing in different songs about grifters\, not the romantic couples from Luck & Doom\, but the lonely wreckage left after the breakup. ‘Can You Get Me Out Of Phoenix?’ was one of those. It’s a tune about a grifter daughter stranded in Phoenix who is thinking about the life of her father. And then I brought in the idea of The Set Up\, a spoken word song in three parts: the lure\, the catch\, and the grift. I wrote the words\, Cory wrote the music\, and Amy played the part and man oh man did she deliver. \n‘Keep The Shades Down’ was written as a link between the romance of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom and the isolation of the The Set Up. The couple in the song realises just how close the haves are to being have nots. The tracks came together fast and it was so naturally cinematic in feel that Cory and I began bringing in instrumentals to make it even more so. I had written ‘Jumping Off In Madras’ for the woman in ‘Her Ponyboy’ (Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom)\, as she gets off the freight train alone after the death of her boyfriend. Cory wrote ‘Getting Out Of The Ward’ for the guy in ‘The Meter Keeps Ticking’ who is leaving the mental hospital two days after Christmas and the stunningly beautiful ‘The Last Time I Saw Her’ for the kid in ‘The Reckless Life’ as she sets off from the hospital into the darkness of the world. \nOur stalwart producer\, John Morgan Askew\, was at the helm again and he’s the king of building atmospheric worlds. You can really feel it on this one. By the time we finished the record we realized The Set Up was the wayward\, misguided\, and lonely sister to Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. More ragged and undone but all CinemaScope Delines. \n– Willy Vlautin\, Portland\, Oregon\, November 28\, 2025 \nAbout The Delines: \nThe Delines were formed after Richmond Fontaine singer/songwriter\, Willy Vlautin\, heard singer\, Amy Boone (The Damnations)\, sing just one single ballad. He was so moved by her voice that he secretly wrote her songs for over a year before approaching her to start a band. Lucky for all she liked what she heard and The Delines were formed. Fontaine’s Sean Oldham on drums\, Freddie Trujillo on bass\, Vlautin on guitar\, and multi-instrumentalist Cory Gray on keyboards and horns. Vlautin is no stranger to critical acclaim in the US\, UK\, and Europe\, enjoying cult success and rave reviews from the likes of the New York Times\, Washington Post\, Uncut\, MOJO\, Hot Press\, Rolling Stone and the Wall Street Journal\, both as a novelist with seven books under his belt\, and as the former front man/songwriter of the Americana outfit Richmond Fontaine who produced eleven acclaimed studio albums. Three of his novels have been turned into feature films: The Motel Life\, Lean on Pete\, and The Night Always Comes. Ursula K. Le Guin said this of Vlautin’s writing\, “Willy Vlautin is one of the bravest novelists writing… An unsentimental Steinbeck\, a heartbroken Haruf\, Willy Vlautin tells us who really lives now in our America\, our city in ruins.”
