DESCRIPTION:Originally formed on Long Island\, New York in 2000\, Car Bomb is a band whose style is marked by a highly experimental and extremely aggressive approach to metal. Their unpredictable blend of evolving polyrhythms\, shifting tempos\, syncopated down-tuned guitars\, jazz-influenced drumming\, harmonically deconstructive riffing\, and dynamic vocals create a sound that is pulverizingly heavy and intensely disorienting. They create music that is fluid and ever changing\, and are not afraid of veering off on bold melodic tangents. This unique sound combined with a strong DIY work ethic and a continuously growing fan base has earned them the opportunity to tour with larger acts in the genre. \nCar Bomb released their debut album Centralia on Relapse Records in 2007\, and supported the record on US tours with High on Fire in 2008 and Gojira in 2009. They self-released their second album w^w^^w^w (pronounced “w-click-w” or “the waveform album”) in 2012. It featured guest vocals by Joseph Duplantier of Gojira\, whom they’d again tour with later that year. In 2014\, Car Bomb was invited to tour Europe for the first time\, opening up for Meshuggah on their 25th anniversary tour. \nCar Bomb released their third album Meta in the fall of 2016\, which again featured Joseph Duplantier who this time also shared a co-production credit with Greg Kubacki. The album also features Frank Mullen of Suffocation and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (Korn\, Megadeth\, Lamb of God\, Parkway Drive). The band kicked off the release with shows supporting Gojira and Tesseract as well as opening for The Dillinger Escape Plan on their farewell US tour. In early 2017\, Car Bomb headed back to Europe/UK opening up for Gojira. The band then headlined their own European tour in September before returning to the US in October to support Animals as Leaders and Periphery. \nThe band is currently headquartered at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn\, New York

The album was recorded in Glasgow in 2023 and includes a selection of old and new songs performed by the post-1999 line-up with Paul McLoone on vocals. \nTHE UNDERTONES – Part 1 – 1976 – 1983\nThe Undertones emerged from Derry in 1976\, the result of five friends (John O’Neill\, Damian O’Neill\, Feargal Sharkey\, Billy Doherty and Michael Bradley) learning how to play basic rock and roll. \nEven by the standards of that decade Derry was not the rock and roll capital of anywhere. With no live bands worth watching\, they learned by listening to mail order records\, reading one of the few copies of NME that made it to Derry but most of all from listening to John Peel’s wonderful show on BBC Radio One. Practicing in their bedrooms eventually led to the band recording John O’Neill’s ‘Teenage Kicks’ in 1978 on Terri Hooley’s Good Vibrations label in Belfast. The legendary DJ John Peel received a copy and liked it so much he played it twice in a row on his radio show. \nThe Undertones signed with Sire Records and ‘Teenage Kicks’ was re-released\, resulting in the band’s first appearance on Top of the Pops. Over the next five years\, John O Neill\, crafted further pop gems such as `Here Comes The Summer`\, ‘Jimmy Jimmy`\, `You’ve Got My Number (Why Don’t You Use It)’ and ‘Wednesday Week’ whilst Damian O’Neill and Michael Bradley contributed ‘My Perfect Cousin. They also recorded four highly acclaimed LPs. Indeed\, they almost enjoyed the life of professional musicians. In 1983 Feargal Sharkey left the band to pursue a solo career and the remaining members decided to call it a day. The Undertones were to remain silent for the next sixteen years. \nTHE UNDERTONES – Part 2 – 1999 –\nIn 1999 The Undertones reconvened\, without Feargal Sharkey\, to once again perform their two-minute\, three and a half chord songs to a new generation of fans in Derry and around the World…Fellow Derryman Paul McLoone replaced Sharkey on vocals and his vocal prowess and electric onstage presence soon convinced any doubters that he was more than capable of doing the job. \nAfter much consideration the band released an LP of new songs called `Get What You Need’\, which was critically acclaimed by Q magazine\, Uncut\, Rolling Stone and Hot Press. Songs like ‘Thrill Me’\, ‘I Need Your Love The Way It Used To Be’ and ‘Everything But You’ showed that the art of writing short\, sharp songs had not been lost over the previous two decades. \nIn 2003 ‘Thrill Me’ was released as a limited edition 7” vinyl single and found its way to John Peel’s turntable. He introduced it on his show commenting\, “And these are words I thought I would never be saying on radio again\, a new single from The Undertones”. He liked it so much he played it twice\, just as he did with ‘Teenage Kicks’ in 1978. \nIn 2016 the Band released vinyl remasters of ther first two LPs; ‘The Undertones – The Undertones’ and ‘The Undertones – Hypnotised’ along with a 7” vinyl remix of the 1979 single ‘Get Over You’. Remixed by Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine/Primal Scream). Michael Bradley also published his book Teenage Kicks: My Life as An Undertone’. \n2018 marked the 40th Anniversary of the release of their most influential and famous song\, ’Teenage Kicks’.  On 21st April for Record Store Day 2018 the band released a Vinyl Singles Box Set containing the 13 x 7” original Undertones singles from the classic early period: 1978-1983.

SUMMARY:PELICAN
DESCRIPTION:Pelican has always been a band that’s not just from Chicago\, but distinctly of Chicago. Formed in 2000 by guitarists Trevor Shelley de Brauw and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec alongside brothers Bryan and Larry Herweg on bass and drums respectively\, Pelican’s foundation was built upon the rule-free\, genre-agnostic scene synonymous with the Fireside Bowl. “The ‘90s in Chicago was a free-for-all. Everyone was just coming from a place of pure creativity\,” says Shelley de Brauw. With Schroeder-Lebec returning to the band following Dallas Thomas’ departure in 2022\, this reunified version of Pelican allowed the band to tap back into the spirit of their formative era and build something distinctly new with Flickering Resonance. \nWhile longtime Pelican fans will recognize the album as an update to the band’s ethos—one that’s been constantly evolving since their very first EP—their new partnership with Run For Cover Records emphasizes something that’s always been implicit to the Pelican formula. These songs take as much inspiration from titanic ‘90s post-hardcore\, space-rock\, and emo as they do traditional metal\, showing that though Godflesh and Goatsnake records occupied the shelves of Pelican’s songwriters\, so too did Quicksand\, Christie Front Drive\, and Hum. “A lot of people didn’t hear it at first\,” says Schroeder-Lebec. “I was like\, well\, I guess the metal world is where we fit. But now\, we’re more willing to acknowledge all the suits we’re wearing.” \nOn Flickering Resonance\, Pelican doesn’t attempt to reinvent itself as much as emphasize the elements that were so often overlooked. Though Pelican’s thick sonic backbone remains intact\, the songs on Flickering Resonance show a more humanistic side of the band. Tracks like “Evergreen” and “Indelible” tease Pelican’s doom-metal roots\, but these songs feel equally\, ebullient and truthful\, playing like Texas Is The Reason songs transmuted into a post-rock landscape. Recorded with longtime musical compatriot Sanford Parker\, who recorded their first EP\, Pelican begins this new chapter of their career with an album that’s neither full reinvention nor back-to-roots revivalism. After so much time apart\, and with so much life having been lived between the original Pelican lineup’s last recording sessions together\, the band approached it with renewed vigor and a more communal spirit. \n“There was more room for openness and critique with the understanding that we’re all trying to craft the best song possible and that every suggestion is valid until it’s proven invalid\,” says Shelley de Brauw. That process allowed everyone to embrace the material with a shared vision. “We didn’t move forward unless we all wanted to move forward\, and that felt like real community building\,” says Schroeder-Lebec of this unified approach. “I went from seeing it as my art and my craft to our craft that we were shaping together.” \nIn doing so\, Pelican allowed themselves to look at their music less as a means of hard-earned catharsis and more as an appreciation for the glimmers of joy that occur even in the bleakest landscapes. Songs like “Cascading Crescent” and “Indelible” don’t languish in what’s been lost\, these tracks see the band embracing what remains in their hands instead of lamenting what’s slipped through their fingers. It’s a concept that’s mirrored in the artwork of Christian Degn that graces the cover of Flickering Resonance. It’s a piece built off the concept of flame meditation\, and how the smallest flames can often bring about the biggest transformations. A song like “Flickering Stillness” exemplifies this feeling through its sonic expanse\, putting the band’s sonic density and hyper-focused clarity on display\, but with an emphasis on the profound human connections that have kept Pelican going all these years. \n“When Laurent left and we were able to carry it through\, there became a real sense of gratitude for the fact we still have this artistic outlet and a community of people who want to be a part of it” That feeling of deep\, grounded appreciation isn’t just one that’s within the band members\, it’s expressed in every track on Flickering Resonance. Because at the very core of Pelican\, are four individuals who have grown both separately and together\, and always will. \nLike a distant light faintly glowing in the darkest night\, Flickering Resonance is a reminder of all that has passed us by\, but also all that is still to come.

DESCRIPTION:Draw The Outline is the third album from Dublin born singer/songwriter Sorcha Richardson. Written in West Kerry in the West of Ireland and recorded in Belfast with Chris W. Ryan (Just Mustard\, Chalk\, New Dad)\, it is a confident and contemplative record. \n“I wrote most of this album over the course of a year when life started to feel a bit heavy around me. Real life things rearing their head. I think I was trying to write myself to a place of stillness and peace amongst it all.” “A lot of it was written when I was maybe avoiding writing – on solo drives between Dublin and Kerry and while walking on Ventry beach. We recorded it between Belfast and the Dundalk Mountains in December when it felt like everyone else at Christmas parties. Throughout the process I had this strong feeling in the value of things getting smaller and still to become more expansive. It’s an album about ego and pride\, who we tell ourselves we are\, what we tell ourselves we want\, and letting go of some of those ideas. It’s about a run in with my neighbour’s dog\, watching a funeral on TV\, wrestling with how much of yourself to share with others\, and trying to find peace in it all without needing to rip it up and start again. “I came to the realisation that I don’t need to make as much noise to take up space”
