SUMMARY:James Joyce Centre Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Guides from the James Joyce Centre take you through Dublin\, exploring the history of the city and the various locations described by Ireland’s greatest writer\, James Joyce.\n\nThough Joyce lived most of his life outside of Ireland\, Dublin would provide the backdrop for virtually all of his work. On a stroll around the inner city\, our guide will explain the real-life inspiration behind some of Joyce’s most celebrated writing\, demonstrating just how central the streetscape of the ‘Hibernian metropolis’ was to the author’s life and art. The tour visits such stops as Belvedere College\, the Gresham Hotel\, the James Joyce Statue\, Davy Byrnes\, and the National Library.\n\nThis is an excellent and fun introduction to Joyce in a bustling part of the city.\n\nThe James Joyce Centre offers two tours: Introducing Joyce’s Dublin and Footsteps of Leopold Bloom.\n\nEvery Thursday\, Friday & Saturday at 11 am. Duration 2 hours.\n\nAdmission to the James Joyce Centre is included. \nThe James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport.

SUMMARY:CYCLOPS
DESCRIPTION:Adapted and directed by Liam Hourican \nWith live period music from two acclaimed musicians! \nLeopold Bloom finds himself in the proverbial lion’s den of Barney Kiernan’s\, subjected to the simmering antisemitism of the blinkered Citizen and a jeering entourage. A toxic mix of heavy drinking\, Dublin pub banter and political discourse culminates in an explosion of xenophobic violence and an assault with a biscuit tin. \nIn CYCLOPS\, Volta draws on its roots in cabaret and sketch comedy to conjure Joyce at his comedic best. \nAfter three sold-out runs of its critically-acclaimed Counterparts & A Little Cloud\, Volta Theatre Company returns to Bewley’s Café Theatre with an adaptation of the CYCLOPS chapter from Ulysses\, as part of the Bloomsday Festival 2026. Accompanied by a live band Joyce’s riotous and timely satire on Irish nationalism and Dublin drinking culture leaps blisteringly from the page.

In 2025 it was followed by surprise album\, antichamber\, announced mere hours before release\, an ambient\, stripped-back body of work featuring obscure\, minimalist arrangements & field recordings. In October 2025\, Puma Blue announced that new music was once again imminent\, sharing fragments of new single ‘Desire’ – set for release on 22nd October 2025.

SUMMARY:Lear’s Shadow
DESCRIPTION:The New Theatre presents the Irish premier of “Lear’s Shadow\, Colin Hurley’s one-man take on King Lear. \nA man in a dressing gown shuffles in\, carrying a box.  From the box he pulls the objects\, people\, mistakes\, laughter and regrets that add up to a life. This is an old fool of an actor sniffing around Shakespeare’s great play. This is dreamtime\, playtime\, clown time. At the end of Shakespeare’s play Lear dies. His last words are “Look\, there.” So what happens after you die? Well\, that’s where this show starts. \n  \nColin Hurley has acted in Shakespeare plays with The Royal National Theatre\, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Globe Theatre\, as well with other theatres and in other plays. He has also appeared in film and TV across a fifty year career. \n  \n‘Hurley delivers a surprising\, irresistibly human and comic Lear. This is more an ordinary man with a man’s vanities and vulnerabilities\, yet there is an air of decayed nobility about him.’ **** British Theatre Guide \n  \n‘ A superb one-man performance…Throughout the 70-minute performance. \nHurley captivates’ **** Theatre and Arts Review \n  \n‘Hurley’s performance is a tour de force… He engaged with the audience brilliantly.. well worth watching.’ North West End \n  \nProduced by Andy Crook.

SUMMARY:The Whiteheaded Boy
DESCRIPTION:“ – Glory be to God! Is it notions she has? – Aye\, notions. But they’re notions that cost me money!” \n\n\nThe table is set for Denis\, arriving home from Dublin where he’s studying Medicine at Trinity College – a source of enormous pride for his besotted mother and of great resentment to his five other siblings. \nBut when word comes that he may have failed his exams again\, the final straw breaks. Threats of deportation\, lawsuits\, bribes and counter-bribes escalate\, as the family twist the fate of their whiteheaded boy to suit themselves. Never mind about the girls. \nA smash hit when it premiered at the Abbey Theatre 110 years ago\, Lennox Robinson’s The Whiteheaded Boy is a raucous\, high-stakes tug-of-war between a generation who will do anything to keep their standing in the town and the young\, who just want to be free to do what they want to do. \nAward-winning director Annie Ryan re-imagines this bawdy and bold Irish classic with a contemporary eye and a sharp feminist wink to the past. Notions abound!

The North Alabama native possesses an incredible penchant for identifying and articulating some of the deepest\, yet simplest\, human emotions\, and turning them into beautiful poetry through song. Isbell sings of the everyday human condition with thoughtful\, heartfelt\, and sometimes brutal honesty. \nAfter releasing multiple critically-acclaimed albums\, appearing in an Academy Award nominated film\, Killers of the Flower Moon\, and touring the world with his band\, the 400 Unit\, Isbell began 2025 with a change of pace. A solo record. Simply Isbell and his voice and an acoustic guitar\, an all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in NYC\, Foxes in the Snow further demonstrates his pure talent as a songwriter and musician. SUMMARY:The Aristocrats
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 12 years\, The Aristocrats – guitarist Guthrie Govan (Steven Wilson\, Hans Zimmer\, Asia/GPS)\, bassist Bryan Beller (Joe Satriani\, Steve Vai\, Dethklok)\, and drummer Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson\, Joe Satriani\, Steve Hackett) – have established themselves as one of the most musically original\, refreshingly irreverent\, and astoundingly entertaining instrumental rock-fusion acts on the planet. Anyone who’s witnessed their live musical high-wire act – employing random amounts of rock\, jazz\, pop\, metal\, country\, and anything in between – feels the spirit of a true band\, one whose improvisational soul allows for anything to happen onstage at any moment…including the occasional Frank Zappa-influenced wink and nod at the audience. \nThe buzz from their supposedly one-off debut gig at the Anaheim NAMM show in 2011 led to The Aristocrats self-titled debut album. Tracked in just eight days\, The Aristocrats [2011] was hailed as an instant classic in leading music publications worldwide\, appearing on many of that year’s top ten lists. The Aristocrats then proceeded to make three more critically acclaimed studio albums over the next decade\, two of which landed in the Billboard Top 10 Jazz Chart. (Jazz? Ok\, sure.) Four world tours and three live albums later\, the band is known on five continents as a must-see whirlwind musical experience. \nIn the midst of breaking the lockdown seal with their worldwide 2022/2023 DEFROST TOUR\, the band produced their fifth and most ambitious studio work to date – a concept album. Duck is the story of a web-footed Antarctic island native fleeing a penguin policeman all the way to New York City…where considerable misadventure and danger await. Duck takes The Aristocrats’ collective artistry to a whole new mindblowing – albeit ridiculous – level.
