SUMMARY:CYCLOPS
DESCRIPTION:Adapted and directed by Liam Hourican \nWith live period music from two acclaimed musicians! \nLeopold Bloom finds himself in the proverbial lion’s den of Barney Kiernan’s\, subjected to the simmering antisemitism of the blinkered Citizen and a jeering entourage. A toxic mix of heavy drinking\, Dublin pub banter and political discourse culminates in an explosion of xenophobic violence and an assault with a biscuit tin. \nIn CYCLOPS\, Volta draws on its roots in cabaret and sketch comedy to conjure Joyce at his comedic best. \nAfter three sold-out runs of its critically-acclaimed Counterparts & A Little Cloud\, Volta Theatre Company returns to Bewley’s Café Theatre with an adaptation of the CYCLOPS chapter from Ulysses\, as part of the Bloomsday Festival 2026. Accompanied by a live band Joyce’s riotous and timely satire on Irish nationalism and Dublin drinking culture leaps blisteringly from the page.

SUMMARY:Lear’s Shadow
DESCRIPTION:The New Theatre presents the Irish premier of “Lear’s Shadow\, Colin Hurley’s one-man take on King Lear. \nA man in a dressing gown shuffles in\, carrying a box.  From the box he pulls the objects\, people\, mistakes\, laughter and regrets that add up to a life. This is an old fool of an actor sniffing around Shakespeare’s great play. This is dreamtime\, playtime\, clown time. At the end of Shakespeare’s play Lear dies. His last words are “Look\, there.” So what happens after you die? Well\, that’s where this show starts. \n  \nColin Hurley has acted in Shakespeare plays with The Royal National Theatre\, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Globe Theatre\, as well with other theatres and in other plays. He has also appeared in film and TV across a fifty year career. \n  \n‘Hurley delivers a surprising\, irresistibly human and comic Lear. This is more an ordinary man with a man’s vanities and vulnerabilities\, yet there is an air of decayed nobility about him.’ **** British Theatre Guide \n  \n‘ A superb one-man performance…Throughout the 70-minute performance. \nHurley captivates’ **** Theatre and Arts Review \n  \n‘Hurley’s performance is a tour de force… He engaged with the audience brilliantly.. well worth watching.’ North West End \n  \nProduced by Andy Crook.

SUMMARY:The Whiteheaded Boy
DESCRIPTION:“ – Glory be to God! Is it notions she has? – Aye\, notions. But they’re notions that cost me money!” \n\n\nThe table is set for Denis\, arriving home from Dublin where he’s studying Medicine at Trinity College – a source of enormous pride for his besotted mother and of great resentment to his five other siblings. \nBut when word comes that he may have failed his exams again\, the final straw breaks. Threats of deportation\, lawsuits\, bribes and counter-bribes escalate\, as the family twist the fate of their whiteheaded boy to suit themselves. Never mind about the girls. \nA smash hit when it premiered at the Abbey Theatre 110 years ago\, Lennox Robinson’s The Whiteheaded Boy is a raucous\, high-stakes tug-of-war between a generation who will do anything to keep their standing in the town and the young\, who just want to be free to do what they want to do. \nAward-winning director Annie Ryan re-imagines this bawdy and bold Irish classic with a contemporary eye and a sharp feminist wink to the past. Notions abound!

SUMMARY:Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
DESCRIPTION:Following the release of his tenth studio album Foxes In The Snow in March\, Six-time Grammy Award-winning singer / songwriter Jason Isbell has announced his return to Ireland with The 400 Unit\, visiting 3Olympia Theatre\, Dublin on Wednesday 3rd June 2026. \nTickets priced from €56.35 including booking fee & €1.50 restoration levy on sale now with Ticketmaster Ireland \nJason Isbell is one of the most respected and celebrated artists of his generation. The North Alabama native possesses an incredible penchant for identifying and articulating some of the deepest\, yet simplest\, human emotions\, and turning them into beautiful poetry through song. Isbell sings of the everyday human condition with thoughtful\, heartfelt\, and sometimes brutal honesty. \nAfter releasing multiple critically-acclaimed albums\, appearing in an Academy Award nominated film\, Killers of the Flower Moon\, and touring the world with his band\, the 400 Unit\, Isbell began 2025 with a change of pace. A solo record. Simply Isbell and his voice and an acoustic guitar\, an all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in NYC\, Foxes in the Snow further demonstrates his pure talent as a songwriter and musician. As Stereogum so aptly put it\, “the barebones intimacy recentres the artist behind the persona and serves as a reminder that this guy can write a damn song.

SUMMARY:The Aristocrats
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 12 years\, The Aristocrats – guitarist Guthrie Govan (Steven Wilson\, Hans Zimmer\, Asia/GPS)\, bassist Bryan Beller (Joe Satriani\, Steve Vai\, Dethklok)\, and drummer Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson\, Joe Satriani\, Steve Hackett) – have established themselves as one of the most musically original\, refreshingly irreverent\, and astoundingly entertaining instrumental rock-fusion acts on the planet. Anyone who’s witnessed their live musical high-wire act – employing random amounts of rock\, jazz\, pop\, metal\, country\, and anything in between – feels the spirit of a true band\, one whose improvisational soul allows for anything to happen onstage at any moment…including the occasional Frank Zappa-influenced wink and nod at the audience. \nThe buzz from their supposedly one-off debut gig at the Anaheim NAMM show in 2011 led to The Aristocrats self-titled debut album. Tracked in just eight days\, The Aristocrats [2011] was hailed as an instant classic in leading music publications worldwide\, appearing on many of that year’s top ten lists. The Aristocrats then proceeded to make three more critically acclaimed studio albums over the next decade\, two of which landed in the Billboard Top 10 Jazz Chart. (Jazz? Ok\, sure.) Four world tours and three live albums later\, the band is known on five continents as a must-see whirlwind musical experience. \nIn the midst of breaking the lockdown seal with their worldwide 2022/2023 DEFROST TOUR\, the band produced their fifth and most ambitious studio work to date – a concept album. Duck is the story of a web-footed Antarctic island native fleeing a penguin policeman all the way to New York City…where considerable misadventure and danger await. Duck takes The Aristocrats’ collective artistry to a whole new mindblowing – albeit ridiculous – level.

SUMMARY:LANY
DESCRIPTION:LA-based duo LANY have announced their Soft World tour will land in Dublin at 3Olympia Theatre on Thursday 4th June 2026. \n\n\nPaul Klein (lead-singer & songwriter) had just finished a workout at his local gym last summer when his and LANY’s world was (for a brief moment\, quite literally) flipped upside down. Only a couple miles from where he lives in Hollywood\, he hopped on his vespa scooter to head home and a minute later was crossing an intersection when a car appeared from nowhere. He squeezed the brakes\, braced for impact and at the last second “let go”. He woke up in an ambulance. \n“The first thought I had when I woke up was that God loves me. That I’m still here for a reason and I have a purpose.” He doesn’t know how much time passed on the pavement. He doesn’t know who called the ambulance. He doesn’t know how long it took them to arrive. He does know how fortunate he is to be alive. “I’m so grateful to be alive\, but I hope there are some parts of me that died on the road that day\,” he says. “I was holding onto some things that I didn’t need to be. Resentment. Unforgiveness. I was becoming pretty bitter and callous — hard of heart.” \nIt’s poetic then that the band’s new album\, titled “Soft”\, addresses his attempts to fight against that internal hardness — to stay soft of the inside\, while simultaneously fighting to rehabilitate an even stronger\, harder exterior to protect that same vulnerability and softness within. \nThe LA-based duo (comprised of Klein and his bandmate/ best friend Jake Goss) were less than two weeks away from the Australian leg of their “a beautiful blur” world tour when the accident happened. Having already finished the European\, North American and Latin American legs\, the band were spending the first weeks of summer at home\, recharging before getting back on the road. Nobody could’ve imagined how quickly everything would change. What is perhaps more conceivable is how catalyzing a moments like this would be for Klein\, both personally and creatively. Thematically and visually “Soft” exists in tension — an intentional contrast of the hard and soft. Tangible\, literal\, physical hardness juxtaposed with metaphorical\, relational (and\, at times too\, physical) softness. The cover itself depicts the perfect visual of that dichotomy: a lamb\, representative of one’s own softness\, in the wounded and bandaged arms of the one that has fought for and protected it. “It’s so easy to let the challenges of the world harden you\,” Klein says. “The hardest thing to do is to fight against it — to stay soft. To protect your softness and the things that you love.” \nSonically\, the album explores these same tensions — much of the softness and vulnerability of lyric that has defined LANY’s acclaimed career\, now with a harder\, braver edge to the production. Where familiar listeners might’ve expected to encounter some more predictable or safer choices\, LANY has seriously matured and evolved. The soft piano ballads west-coast-indie guitars and bedroom pop sonics that LANY helped create and popularize aren’t entirely abandoned\, but their sound and Klein’s writing has expanded. The list of brave choices on “Soft” begins with Klein’s willingness to start writing mere weeks after waking up in the ambulance. It continues with the band’s decision to produce the album entirely with Tommy King\, who has a more abstract\, indie production background / history (Bon Iver\, Dijon\, Vampire Weekend\, Haim) and ends with a sonic-identity that is simultaneously incredibly fresh and peculiarly familiar (another dichotomy that defines the record and has come to define the band). \nNowhere is this seen more than lead-single “Know You Naked”. Lyrically a vulnerable love-letter\, highlighted by Klein’s vocal range and thoughtful extra touches; the tension and contrast is found in an almost-industrial\, dissonant guitar-intro (that continues to persist below the surface)\, harsh synth stabs\, punchy snare hits and momentary “glitchy” static-like sounds. There’s also a particular moment on the album’s title track and opener “Soft” that sets the scene and prepares the audience for what’s ahead. It’s only one and a half minutes into the album\, but is the first time the initial “softness” of the record is broken and it kickstarts the record into life — a daring\, crystalizing early highlight. \nIn more than a few of the tracks\, the record could more aptly even be described as R&B. Maybe that’s where some of the familiarity stems from… The band’s origins and early works felt more “80s”\, but were always very R&B-adjacent. The song “Good Parts” feels like it drew inspiration from the “late-90’s / Y2K” in that way — you can just imagine a big-budget music video played 40x a day\, every day\, on MTV to accompany such an enormous track. This feeling is identified most strongly in the unstoppable album closer “Last Forever” though — an astonishingly raw and honest\, soul-bearing ballad that existing fans and new listeners will be desperate to have on loop (or\, dare-say\, to last forever). While it pushes sonic and thematic boundaries\, it still feels a lot like LANY\, treading that tightrope of tension the band thrive on. \nWith “Soft” dropping this Fall\, the band have spent the latter parts of 2024 and early 2025 relentlessly working on the record\, but have found time outside of the studio too. Earlier this year they played two special nights with The National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center in DC before headlining Seoul Jazz Festival in Korea in May. LANY have always brought so much of the energy from their live shows to their recorded works and it’s easy to see that influence on “Soft”. While the new record was incubated in the immediate aftermath of the accident — writing and production beginning within just a couple of weeks — the band were amazingly back on stage in Europe to finish their world tour just two months after the crash\, albeit with Klein on a crutch. \nThat tour canvased the globe; highlights of the 80+ show / 300\,000+ ticket run including a first-ever sold out stadium in Manila\, a second time headlining The Forum locally in LA\, and festival headline slots at the iconic Summer Sonic Festivals in Tokyo and Osaka. Nominated for “Best Pop Tour” by Pollstar\, the band’s energetic\, entrancing\, and ever-evolving live show continues to captivate fans on multiple continents.

SUMMARY:Dream\, Ivory
DESCRIPTION:Dream\, Ivory: brothers Christian and Louie Baello grew up in Southern California\, where “the Baello brothers were each other’s universe.” Christian handles production while Louie serves as the primary lyricist and vocalist\, but every song they make is a true collaboration. Beyond the music\, together\, they make all of Dream\, Ivory’s artwork\, videos\, and visuals. \nInspired by shoegaze\, surf rock\, and artists like Damon Albarn\, the duo quickly built an organic online following. Today\, they have over 450 million streams across their catalogue and their debut single ‘welcome goodbye’ is RIAA certified gold. \nWhen You Come Back… follows their acclaimed 2022 debut LP About a Boy\, “interrogates difficult topics surrounding mental illness and suicidality with grace and conviction.” The new album “incubates a distinctive period in the brothers’ lives defined by dislocation and addiction\,” and marks a creative resurgence that began when they wrote ‘Lost Angeles\,’ the first song for what would become When You Come Back…” \nDream\, Ivory’s Dublin performance marks the first opportunity for Irish fans to hear material from the new album live.

SUMMARY:ZACK KEIM\, DAVID SHANE & KENAN FLANNERY
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate evening of raw music and viral storytelling as American singer-songwriter Zack Keim and filmmaker David Shane make their highly anticipated Irish debut. Hailing from Pittsburgh and fresh off a four-year run touring the US and Europe\, Zack Keim brings the soulful indie-folk melodies of his new album\, Battery Lane (released via CAAMP’s label). Described by Shindig! Magazine as a blend of Lou Reed’s pop hooks and a singular\, plaintive voice\, Keim’s performance is a masterclass in the art of starting over. \nSharing the stage is David Shane\, the visionary behind the viral More Love Projects\, a movement built on human connection that has generated over 500 million views worldwide. For this tour\, Shane steps away from the screen to bring his stories of vulnerability and love into a live music setting where songs and narratives meet. Opening the night is Dublin’s own Kenan Flannery\, who carries the torch of the Irish ballad tradition into the modern day. Drawing deep influence from his upbringing in traditional storytelling\, Kenan weaves haunting narratives and honest lyrics that bridge the gap between old-world heritage and contemporary folk. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind night where the best of indie-pop hooks meets the quiet\, human moments that connect us all.

SUMMARY:Amanda Shires - Streetlights & Stars European Tour
DESCRIPTION:A truly singular creative force\, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Amanda Shires has made an extraordinary career out of restlessly pursuing her deepest instincts and passions. \nSince getting her start playing fiddle with the legendary Texas Playboys at the young age of 15\, the West Texas native has brought her nuanced songwriting and boundless originality to a series of critically acclaimed solo albums\, collaborated with the likes of John Prine and Justin Townes Earle\, and earned the 2017 Emerging Artist of the Year prize from the Americana Music Association (AMA). Amanda is also the founder of The Highwomen – a supergroup she performs in alongside Natalie Hemby\, Maren Morris and Brandi Carlile. \nShe received unanimous praise for her album ‘Take It Like A Man’. Written and recorded during lockdown\, Take It Like A Man is a fearless song cycle of ruthlessly candid tunes documenting Amanda’s life as a woman during a tumultuous time and features guest vocals by Maren Morris and Brittney Spencer. Her anticipated new album will be released in the fall of 2025.
