Audiences can enjoy live music\, circus\, aerial performances\, dance\, street theatre\, workshops\, interactive play spaces\, walkabout acts and immersive virtual reality experiences. Heart of Play reflects Dublin as a diverse\, welcoming and multicultural city where people of all ages can come together to create\, explore and connect. \nOn Saturday 11 July\, the programme moves to St. Patrick’s Park for Heart of Our Story\, inspired by Dublin’s rich literary heritage and the 300th anniversary of Gulliver’s Travels. Storytellers\, musicians\, puppeteers and circus performers will bring the park to life through performances\, workshops and imaginative experiences designed to spark curiosity and celebrate the stories that shape the city. \nThe journey continues on Saturday 18 July in Merrion Square Park with Heart of Creativity\, showcasing imagination\, artistic expression and the creative talent that has long defined Dublin. This landmark performance will see Casey revisit Amen (So Be It) and Living in full; records that not only shaped his own musical journey but left a lasting imprint on Irish music. \nHaving been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi-platinum selling debut album Amen (So Be It)\, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders\, R.E.M\, Ian Brown\, Blondie and Tracy Chapman to name a few. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland\, including a sold out Dublin Castle\, RDS and a record-breaking week long run in The Olympia Theatre\, alongside special guest spots with U2\, Pearl Jam\, Bob Dylan and more. \nPaddy Casey’s hugely successful debut album Amen (So Be It) achieved many international highlights including tracks being featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’ alongside extensive American and European tours. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists\, his second album Living went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland (approximately 15 times platinum in its first year) \nThis was followed by the release of Addicted To Company\, Part 1\, with this album seeing Paddy Casey continue to tour across America\, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman\, securing a week-long slot on MTV. After the release of this album Paddy Casey decided that it was time to part ways with his record label and go independent in order to let himself and his music veer off in any direction the wind carried them\, resulting in his first release The Secret Life Of and his last double album Turn This Ship Around a resounding success with both the albums reaching platinum status. \nPaddy is currently mixing and getting ready to release the first single from his (as yet unnamed) new album due out this summer. \nPresented by NCH

There they will be escorted to the event’s location. \nAbout the Book\nThe Irish have played an extraordinary – if little known – role in the construction and development of Hong Kong\, in government\, the army\, police\, judiciary\, finance and in civil society – schools\, hospitals\, churches and welfare institutions. Ireland provided nine Governors\, five Chief Justices\, two Chiefs of Police and one head of Special Branch. Also nuns who cured the city of tuberculosis and priests and ministers who founded high-quality schools that have transformed the lives of thousands of Hong Kong people. They are flourishing today and are the choice of many parents. In sport\, also\, the Irish have made a great contribution – racing\, the Rugby Sevens and\, most famously\, Siobhan Haughey\, the first Hong Kong athlete to win four Olympic medals. This is the first book to give a comprehensive and detailed account of this Irish history. \nAbout the Author\nMark O’Neill was born in London\, England\, the son of an Irish father and Scottish mother. He was educated at Marlborough College and New College\, Oxford. He worked in Washington\, DC\, Manchester and Belfast before coming to Hong Kong in 1978. In Belfast\, he covered the Troubles and learnt about his family and their history. He has lived in Asia ever since. He worked as a journalist for 30 years here\, in Taiwan\, India\, the PRC and Japan\, for Reuters\, SCMP and many other publications. Since 2006\, he has been writing books on Chinese\, Taiwan\, Hong Kong and Macau history and society. He has completed 21 in English\, four of them on Irish topics. Eight have been translated into traditional Chinese and three into simplified Chinese. DESCRIPTION:Please join The James Joyce Centre for the launch of a new special issue and podcast series dedicated to the untold history of Ireland’s unmarried women. \n\n\n\n\nCelibacy in Irish Women’s Writing\, edited by Dr. Paul Fagan\, is an open-access Humanities special issue dedicated to less familiar feminist\, queer\, and activist versions of celibacy in Irish women’s movements and literature. Boasting new research from leading experts in Irish women’s writing\, the essays explore representations of unmarried and widowed women in writing by Elizabeth Bowen\, Kate O’Brien\, Mary Lavin\, Molly Keane\, Eva Gore-Booth\, Edna O’Brien\, and more\, in order to better understand the historical trajectories of the ‘female celibate’ as a political and cultural figure in Ireland. \nIn the accompanying podcast series Unmarried Sisters\, Dr Paul Fagan speaks to leading figures in Irish\, gender\, and sexuality studies to learn more about historical collaborations and the bonds formed between differently celibate Irish women—whether in friendships\, romantic relationships\, creative collaborations or forms of political and revolutionary organisation—and to explore celibacy’s imbrications with first-wave feminist politics\, patterns of queer kinship\, and Irish literary modernism. \nThe special collection and podcast will be launched by Prof. Katherine Ebury (incoming UCD James Joyce Chair)\, with additional remarks by the editor Dr. Paul Fagan (University of Vienna) and contributors Prof. Anne Fogarty (UCD)\, Prof. Maureen O’Connor (UCC)\, Dr. Deirdre Foley (TCD) and Dr. Fae McNamara (Teesside University). \nThe special issue and podcast series were made possible by the support of the Research Ireland project Celibacy in Irish Women’s Writing\, 1860s–1950s (GOIPD/2022/634). \nRefreshments will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Eldars set themselves apart from the standard rock line-up\, comprised of two lead vocalists with contrasting voices\, allowing the band to explore a multitude of styles. Coupled with three guitars\, bass and drums\, their music spans many genres of rock\, from gentler indie tunes to heavier alternative soundscapes. Based in Dublin\, the five members bring a wealth of experience of playing the live scene in many different guises to strive for something that brings classic songwriting to the fore while presenting a unique take on the rock sound.
