SUMMARY:Foggy Notions presents Prostitute
DESCRIPTION:Due to phenomenal demand Prostitute’s Irish Debut has been upgraded to Workman’s Club on Monday 24th August. All existing tickets remain valid and final tickets on sale now. \nFormed in 2020 in Dearborn\, Michigan\, Prostitute is an experimental post-punk and Arab rock band. Born out of the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown\, the band’s debut album\, Attempted Martyr\, was written in the midst of global and personal turmoil\, capturing the zeitgeist of a world unraveling. A loose concept record\, it chronicles the rise and fall of a doomed zealot whose pursuit of holy vengeance spirals into a psychotic orgy of violence\, greed\, and lust. \nThe band was initially formed by Moe Kazra who enlisted childhood friends Andrew Kaster and Dylan Zaranski\, with Ross Babinski and Bret Wall later completing the lineup. Together\, they self-funded the album\, working with legendary engineer Chris Koltay to shape a sound that’s both abrasive and hypnotic—an unrelenting blend of warped guitars\, primitive basslines\, frenzied drumming\, and corrosive synthesizers\, interwoven with samples from diverse cultures\, ranging from African to Middle Eastern and East Asian influences. \nTracks like “All Hail” (inspired by the 1977 Hanafi Siege of Washington D.C.) immerses listeners in a volatile\, hostage-like environment. “Judge” channels Milton’s Satan in a chilling rallying cry\, while “Body Meat” grapples with religious desperation and the tenuous boundary between faith and madness. Khachab and Kaster’s lyrics have been described by Pitchfork as “disturbingly poetic” with the ability to “lacerate with image alone.” Crude sloganeering and scenes of horrific violence are juxtaposed with literary allusion and Islamic symbolism\, creating what the band calls a “theatricalization of terrorism.” Through this lens\, they examine and critique the xenophobic stereotypes targeted at Arabs\, distorting them into grotesque caricatures. \nOver the past four years\, Prostitute has established a reputation for their punishing\, high-energy performances. The band’s live shows\, described as “dangerous” and “volatile”\, finds Moe delivering politically charged sermons atop a deafening bacchanal of sound. In 2023\, Prostitute performed at the re-opening of the iconic UFO Bar in Detroit\, followed by a series of benefit concerts for Palestine\, Lebanon\, and Sudan. These performances solidified their growing presence\, leading to invites to play at No Rest Fest and New Colossus Festival. \nAs Prostitute continues work on their sophomore album\, they are delving deeper into electronic and Arabic dance influences\, drawing inspiration from the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. Their sound continues to evolve\, with new tracks incorporating dabke rhythms\, Arabesque melodicism\, and industrial synth textures\, all while retaining the same anarchic energy that defines their unique sound.

SUMMARY:Crowe Boys
DESCRIPTION:Crowe Boys have been making music since both could pick up an instrument. Their music was an integral part of their family’s traveling lifestyle. \nWhile aspects of their career have changed over the years\, the underlying message of their music has not. Being positive and sharing hope has always been their trademark. Now\, a couple of decades later\, that is still the case. Their journey took an exciting turn when they crossed paths with Andrew Campanelli\, drummer for the multi-platinum band The Revivalists\, who recognized the magic in their sound and stepped in as their producer. Together\, they began recording a collection of songs\, sharing the journey in real-time on social media. Then\, in early 2024\, a casual TikTok post featuring their song “Where Did I Go Wrong” went viral\, changing everything. The raw\, heartfelt clip exploded\, racking up tens of millions of views and earning the Crowe Boys thousands of new fans overnight. Their authentic rise caught the attention of Universal Music Group Nashville\, who signed the duo shortly after. With over 600K followers across social media\, the Crowe Boys’ rapidly growing fanbase is a testament to their genuine connection with their audience. \n

SUMMARY:The Tallest Man On Earth
DESCRIPTION:The Swedish singer-songwriter troubadour Kristian Matsson\, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth has a rare talent for captivating an audience with just his raw\, grainy voice and a guitar. He plays various string instruments\, ranging from acoustic guitar\, banjo and he recently picked up and started exploring the realm of the violin as well. The coming year will see him on the road again through Europe and North-America including the National Concert Hall in Dublin for the first time. \nThe project of Kristian Matsson – who has spent much of the last 19 years touring around the world as The Tallest Man On Earth – has captivated audiences using “every inch of his long guitar cord to roam the stage: darting around\, crouching\, stretching\, hip-twitching\, perching briefly and jittering away…” (The New York Times). In 2020\, Matsson left New York City and returned to his farm in Sweden where he drowned out his thoughts by manically growing vegetables in his garden. It was only near the end of 2021\, as he began to tour again\, that the inspiration returned. “When I’m in motion\, I can focus on my instinct\, have my daydreams again. When I was finally able to tour again\, I started writing like a madman.” He eventually had a collection of songs\, revealing what would become Henry St\, an album that sees Matsson exploring his own stubborn optimism and “how to be a person in this world”. \nAfter 2015’s Dark Bird Is Home\, described by Pitchfork as his “most personal record… surreal and dreamlike\,” and his self-released I Love You\, It’s a Fever Dream in 2019\, Kristian Matsson returned in 2022 with the intricate cover album Too Late for Edelweiss. In 2023\, he unveiled his sixth album\, Henry St.\, marking the first time he recorded with a full band. “For most of my career\, I’ve been a DIY artist\, driven by the feeling that I didn’t know what I was doing\, so I just handled everything myself\,” Matsson explained. But with Henry St.\, he craved the creative spark that comes from collaboration and invited his friends to join him in the studio. \nPresented by Foggy Notions

SUMMARY:Sadhbh Mcloughlin
DESCRIPTION:From Belgian chocolates to hot chicken rolls\, after 10 years Sadhbh can finally pronounce her name right. Sort of… \nWith an Irish passport\, a Brussels upbringing\, and an adulthood spent back in Ireland\, this solo stand-up storytelling show explores what happens when “home” is more of a concept than a place. Blending sharp observational comedy with personal stories\, the show digs into life as a third culture kid\, cultural impostor syndrome\, and the quiet panic of trying to feel Irish enough. It’s a funny\, thoughtful look at identity\, belonging\, and what it really means to come home. \nA show about Irishness\, identity\, and the privilege of not being questioned.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Theo Dorgan on Camarade
DESCRIPTION:This event offers an opportunity to hear Theo Dorgan discuss the themes\, characters and inspirations behind Camarade\, as well as his wider body of work. Through conversation and audience questions\, the evening will explore themes of friendship\, memory\, exile and political idealism\, reflecting on lives shaped by movement\, solidarity and the passage of time. Closely aligned with EPIC’s exploration of the Irish diaspora\, the discussion will consider how personal and collective histories intersect across borders\, before concluding with a book signing. \nTicket holders should arrive about 10 minutes before 5:30pm at the Visitor Information desk within CHQ. There they will be escorted to the event’s location. We would ask that you arrive no later than 5:35pm\, as it’s imperative these events begin on time to ensure the best experience for the author and for our visitors. \nAbout the Book\nCamarade is a philosophical thriller of striking depth\, following an Irishman living in Paris as he reflects on a single violent act that forced him to flee Ireland forty years earlier. Encouraged to write his life story\, Joseph embarks on a process of self-examination that reveals a life shaped by exile\, memory and moral uncertainty.\nMoving between Paris and Cork\, and between past and present\, the novel explores themes of violence\, identity and the enduring impact of our choices. As Joseph confronts the defining question of his life\, Camarade becomes both an intimate character study and a meditation on history\, self-awareness and the nature of who we become. \nAbout the Author\n\nBorn in Cork\, Theo Dorgan is one of Ireland’s most celebrated poets and writers. He has published numerous collections of poetry as well as prose\, and has long been associated with Ireland’s literary and cultural life. \nIn addition to his writing\, Dorgan has worked as a documentary screenwriter and broadcaster\, contributing significantly to Irish arts and media. SUMMARY:S*x Mask
DESCRIPTION:Vague pop instilled with the ancient genius of your own blood. \nS*x Mask holds the many trigger words your CIA handler doesn’t want you to know. They have several testimonials from fans attesting to semi-mystical experiences\, some claim it to be Deja vu from a genetic memory long dormant and locked. \nOthers speak of foreshadowed flashes of a past life they are yet to have lived. All of this\, incited after only seconds of exposure to any of their available songs. \nis S*x Mask just another egregious attempt from delusional solipsists at being heard while saying close to nothing? Yes. But they make it look good. \nPart Taoist riddle\, part lone gun-mans manifesto. \nThey are also a 3 piece post punk/alt rock band from Melbourne.

SUMMARY:Mirandolina
DESCRIPTION:“Oh\, she’s born and she’ll leave you in smithereens” \n\n\nMirandolina is inspired by Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni’s masterpiece\, La Locandiera. A 300-year-old story that claims to make its protagonist\, Mirandolina\, an example of the “barbaric cruelty” and “insulting contempt” of women who mock men’s love\, the effect of La Locandiera is in fact a sincere exaltation of female intelligence.  \nIn this exciting adaptation written by Abbey Theatre Associate Artist Marina Carr and directed by Caitríona McLaughlin\, Mirandolina examines the life of a lost young woman and the admirers and predators who surround her.   \nThis is a play about fear\, female fear\, and the price extracted from these lost girls who dare to fight back – a story finding fresh and unprecedented connections with the present. \nMirandolina is performed in Italian with English surtitles.  \nMirandolina is a world premiere co-production by the Abbey Theatre\, Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale and Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka – HNK Rijeka which celebrates the Milan-Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad.  \nIt premieres in Treviso\, Italy\, in February 2026 and tours to Belluno\, Venice\, Padua\, Verona\, Rijeka\, and Milan; before coming to the Abbey Stage in August 2026.  \nFunded as part of the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport EU Presidency Culture Programme.

SUMMARY:White Denim
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2006\, for approaching 20 years White Denim has been celebrated for their fearless blend of garage rock\, soul\, jazz fusion\, psychedelia\, and experimental improvisation. \nBased for much of that time in Austin\, though frontman James Petralli has since relocated to Los Angeles\, the group quickly built a reputation for electrifying live shows and adventurous musicianship\, earning comparisons to both classic rock icons and modern innovators. \nTheir 2008 debut Workout Holiday established them as genre-defying outsiders\, while later releases such as Corsicana Lemonade in 2013 showcased a more polished but no less daring approach. At the heart of the band’s vision is frontman James Petralli\, whose distinctive voice\, sharp guitar work\, and inventive songwriting anchor White Denim’s sound. His dynamic presence both in the studio and on stage has made him one of the most compelling frontmen in modern rock\, ensuring White Denim remains one of the most unique and unpredictable forces in contemporary music.

SUMMARY:Aer Lingus College Football Classic – TCU Horned Frogs vs North Carolina Tar Heels
DESCRIPTION:Texas Christian University (TCU) and the University of North Carolina (UNC) will open the 2026 college football season in Dublin\, in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. The game will be held on August 29th\, 2026\, at the Aviva Stadium. \nTCU\, from Fort Worth\, Texas will serve as the home team in Dublin against UNC who have recently appointed Bill Belichick as head football coach. Belichick is considered by many as the greatest coach in all of professional sports as he has won an NFL- record eight Super Bowls – six as a head coach for the New England Patriots and two as an assistant coach with the New York Giants. Belichick drafted and crafted superstars such as Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. \nThe 2026 Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be just the fifth time TCU and North Carolina football teams compete against each other dating back to 1940 and the first time for both teams to have played football internationally. \nTCU are two-time National Championship winners and most recently reached the College Football National Championship in 2023. While both teams have a rich history of producing top level football talent\, UNC have also produced other sporting legends such as 6-time NBA Champion Micheal Jordan and 2x Olympic Gold Medallist and FIFA World Cup Winner Mia Hamm to name a few.
