DESCRIPTION:SO Fine Art Editions are pleased to present Cut Flowers by Oisín Byrne\, an Irish artist\, writer and filmmaker based in London. This new series of screenprints continues his exploration of scale\, bold colour\, floral form\, gesture and the passing of time\, and will also open at Connolly\, London\, on 1 May 2026. \nMoving fluidly between painting\, film\, performance\, sound and text\, Byrne describes his studio practice as a dialogue between focused\, reflective work and instinctive mark-making\, often exploring the shifting boundaries between conscious thought and intuitive gesture. His studio itself reflects this split: upstairs is used for filming\, editing\, teaching and reading\, while downstairs is for painting and drawing – Byrne describes his process as a movement between states of mind. After sustained periods of research or concentration\, he returns to drawing with urgency\, driven to capture the immediacy of subjects before they shift or disappear.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome author Nicola Pierce into EPIC for the May edition of Éire to Everywhere\, which takes places on the 28th May. \nNicola will be in conversation with our Head of Exhibitions and Programmes\, Nathan Mannion\, where they will delve into the many women covered in the book and why their stories are so important in a modern context. \nThe talk will conclude with a Q&A session\, inviting the audience to engage with Nicola directly and understand further what drew her to this topic. \nCopies of Great Irish Wives will be available to purchase on the night\, with a book signing to follow. \nAbout the Book\nGreat Irish Wives shines a spotlight on ten wives who were instrumental in their famous husbands’ success: Matilda Tone\, Mary O’Connell\, Constance Wilde\, Charlotte Shaw\, Emily Shackleton\, Annette Carson\, Sinéad de Valera\, Margaret Clarke\, George Yeats and Beatrice Behan. \nThroughout history\, the stories of women’s lives and work have been overshadowed by those of men. Wives\, especially\, disappear\, unacknowledged as patrons and champions of their husband’s work\, as collaborators\, muses\, carers and managers of the family domain. \nThe men in this book are household names\, from Wolfe Tone and Daniel O’Connell to Oscar Wilde and Brendan Behan\, and they all have one thing in common: they married women who enabled them to pursue their dreams\, even if that meant courting death or outrage. The screening will be preceded by a live overture performed by acclaimed cellist Kevin Murphy (Slow Moving Clouds\, Rattling Ark) featuring themes from his soundtrack for the film. North Circular will be screened on Living Canvas at IMMA\, Europe’s largest digital outdoor art screen presented at IMMA by IPUT Real Estate. \nNorth Circular is a documentary musical shot in black‑and‑white that explores the history\, music\, and streetscapes of this iconic route\, touching on themes from colonialism and mental health to women’s liberation. \nAlongside the screening the exhibition Fisherwoman\, Fisherwoman will open late until 8pm. This exhibition brings together two distinct art practices – of painter Camille Souter (1929–2023) and contemporary artist Alberta Whittle (b. 1980). Spanning a period of 70 years across two generations\, the works in this thematic exhibition range from painting\, collage and watercolours\, to immersive film\, sculptural installation and live performance. \nIMMA’s Fruition café van will be open in the courtyard for refreshments and treats!

In this instalment Abbas Zahedi has invited poet Bushra Mustafa Dunne to write and record a new poem. Evoking the Irish mourning tradition of keening\, Dunne’s new poem weaves together personal narratives and reflections on militarism\, memory\, and grief\, to imagine shared histories of sonic rituals and communal grieving.

DESCRIPTION:‘Auralux’ is the highly anticipated debut mini-album from Irish shoegazers\, Silk. Michael Smyth\, songwriter/guitarist of the acclaimed but now defunct band Virgins\, is the sole contributor to the project. Taking on responsibilities for all the songwriting\, performance and recording\, gives the project intense personal meaning for Michael. Michael says\, ‘There is no beauty in perfection\, it feels fake and manufactured to me. I want the record to feel real\, so this is the sound of visceral self-expression.’ 2025 saw the release of three highly successful singles and Irish tours\, including festival appearances at GazeFest supporting Whitelands and Sweet Sweet Noise. Lead single of the album ‘Clementine’ released earlier this year\, which found Silk push into darker and more abrasive territory\, leaning hard into texture and density. ‘Auralux’ covers a wide range of sonic territory over its 6 tracks; celestial and euphoric guitars dove tail with impossibly thick crushing fuzz\, while cascading reverse reverbs melt into one another. Lyrically the mini-album moves between themes of mortality\, memory\, loss\, love and time. Auralux is catharsis via volume and reverb. ‘Auralux’\, is released May 7th by Blowtorch Records (IRE/vinyl) and Shoredive Records (UK/CD).

DESCRIPTION:Ella Fitzgerald is probably the most beloved jazz singer of all time\, with hits like Manhattan\, Summertime\, Bewitched and Lady is a Tramp. \nAmassing 13 Grammy Awards and 40 million albums sales over an astounding 60-plus year career\, Ella could effortlessly cross over between sultry ballads\, intricate jazz arrangements and light pop tunes\, and could imitate any instrument of the orchestra. Born in 1917\, Ella worked with all the greats including Ellington\, Basie\, Sinatra\, Gillespie\, Armstrong (or perhaps we should say they worked with her!) and she packed out venues worldwide during her career\, including Dublin’s Adelphi Theatre in 1964 and the Cork Jazz Festival in 1982. Her greatest legacy is probably the Songbook Series\, recorded between 1956 and 1981\, considered a cornerstone of 20th century recorded popular music\, representing some of the finest interpretations of the greater part of the musical canon known as the Great American Songbook.

SUMMARY:Jack Devlin
DESCRIPTION:Jack Devlin has been an unstoppable feature in Northern Ireland during the pandemic – playing gigs when the venues will have him and taking to the streets when the doors have been closed. With venues being closed he has traveled with a guitar busking on the streets of Ireland\, writing constantly and using initiative to win over friends. \nIn the summer of 2020 he realised that a caravan battery could power up a busking session and so he was active with musician friends in Sligo\, Galway\, Westport\, Dublin and Galway. The income was healthy and the surge in social media supporters was proof that the effort was worth it. \nBefore COVID Jack has supported the likes of David Keenan and Hermitage Green. All of this has been building towards his new single release\, the track ‘Dialogue’. Written with Harry from Hudson Taylor it’s a three minute power house with a sound that aims for bigger places. For fans of Sam Fender\, Cold War Kids and Jeff Buckley. One of the many songs he’s crafted at home during the pandemic. Jack comes from Hilltown\, by the Mourne Mountains in Northern Irealand. He was learning guitar at school and was also embarked on a mountain bike adventure\, excelling on a competitive level. \nIn 2018 he was the Ulster Elite Enduro Champion. He rode in Italy and Austria and following a flight mishap at Whistler\, British Columbia\, he took to busking between rides to raise the extra cash for the journey home. This music/mountain bike connection was celebrated in a video\, \nBusk to Ride (2017). His other legacy from bike riding is a broken pelvis and a fractured wrist. “I’ve got plates in all sorts of places.” Music claims his energies now. He has over 100 songs recorded in various states of readiness and has been garnering some significant industry attention as of recent times.
