DESCRIPTION:This new temporary exhibition within EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum asks how the millions of Irish people in England have fared over the past 200 years. Based on landmark economic history research using new big data analysis\, it tracks the wealth\, health\, and living standards of Irish migrants and families of Irish descent\, showing that the Irish were substantially poorer than their English neighbours for generations. \nNo Irish Need Apply? highlights the extraordinary contribution Irish women and men have made to the English economy and wider society through their hard work\, vibrant culture\, and political activism. The exhibition also includes the words and music of Irish migrants in England captured in Philip Donnellan’s 1965 film “The Irishmen”\, in collaboration with the Irish Film Institute. \nThe exhibition has been developed by the Department of Economic History at the London School of Economics & Political Science from research by Professor Neil Cummins and Professor Cormac Ó Gráda (UCD). It has been curated by Dr Christoper Kissane\, Engagement & Impact Lead\, LSE Dept of Economic History.

SUMMARY:William Blake: The age of Romantic Fantasy | Dublin by Dusk
DESCRIPTION:William Blake\, a visionary artist and poet\, was a defining force in Romanticism. His imaginative and unconventional works continue to inspire today. This exhibition\, curated by Tate in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland\, presents a selection of Blake’s most iconic works of art\, alongside paintings and drawings by his contemporaries. \nBlake’s world was one of fantasy\, imagination\, and the ancient past\, filled with fantastical creatures and visions of the underworld\, expressed through a wide variety of media. By placing him in context – among the artists he admired and those he inspired – the exhibition offers insight into an era of extraordinary originality and innovation in late-eighteenth and early nineteenth-century art. Featuring over 100 works\, including by James Barry (1741–1806)\, Henry Fuseli (1741–1825)\, John Hamilton Mortimer (1740–1779)\, Thomas Rowlandson (1757–1827)\, and J.M.W. Turner (1775–1851)\, the show explores how artists responded to a time of revolution and transformation\, pushing the boundaries of their art into new imaginative territories. \nOrganised in collaboration with Tate. \nCurated by Anne Hodge\, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Ireland and Alice Insley\, Curator of British Art c. 1730 – 1850 at Tate. \nThis exhibition is supported by The William Blake Giving Circle.  \nThe Gallery would like to thank the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport for their ongoing support.

DESCRIPTION:Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host an exhibition of new paintings by award-winning artist Comhghall Casey. In this much anticipated solo exhibition\, his first in four years\, Casey presents a new body of masterful studies in oil which observe in detail the extraordinary qualities of ordinary items. \n  \nCasey’s intimate and often nostalgic still-lives celebrate objects from everyday life\, ranging from blocks of cheese to beach toys which are singled out and meticulously observed. His compositions are universally simple\, where the object is placed centrally against a neutral background\, amplifying it’s presence and highlighting the artist’s skill and spectacular attention to detail. \n  \nBorn in 1976 Casey grew up in Omagh\, Co Tyrone before moving to Belfast to study fine art at the University of Ulster. In 2000 he moved to Dublin where he has since been living and working. \n  \nCasey has twice appeared on Sky television’s Portrait Artist of the Year competition. His self-portraits were shortlisted for the esteemed BP Portrait Awards in the UK in 2002\, 2013 and 2015 and subsequently hung in the National Portrait Gallery\, London\, the National Scottish Portrait Gallery\, Edinburgh and the Ulster Museum\, Belfast. His portraits have also been shortlisted for the Zurich (formerly Hennessy) Portrait Awards at the National Gallery of Ireland in 2014\, 2017\, 2019\, 2020 & 2023. Casey has exhibited regularly in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London and has received numerous awards at the RHA and RUA Annual Exhibitions including the prestigious Hennessey Craig Scholarship. In 2015 An Post issued an edition of stamps featuring Casey’s toy paintings. In 2017 he was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Ulster Academy. \n  \nCasey’s work features in many notable collections including the National Self Portrait Collection\, The Ulster Museum\, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The Office of Public Works.

DESCRIPTION:Stephen Wilson Jr. has recently exploded from critical darling to rising star\, earning a CMA Award nomination for New Artist of the Year and performing on the broadcast twice. Following his critically-acclaimed debut double album ‘søn of dad’\, which hit #1 on the iTunes country album chart\, he recently released his new single “Gary\,” which he premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live!\, and is currently spinning on country radio with 75 first week station adds. \nStephen Wilson Jr.’s journey from the hollers of southern Indiana to Nashville\, Tenn. has been a winding road that’s taken many detours: He’s been an Indiana State Golden Gloves boxing championship finalist\, a scientist\, and a lead guitarist and songwriter in an indie rock band. In 2016\, he ditched his laboratory 9-to-5 and signed a publishing deal with BMG Nashville where his alchemic songcraft immediately made waves\, leading to cuts from Caitlyn Smith\, Old Dominion\, Tim McGraw\, Sixpence None the Richer\, Leigh Nash and more. 2023 proved to be Wilson Jr. ‘s breakthrough year\, signing with Big Loud Records and releasing his debut double album søn of dad: a triumphant\, genre-spanning set of 22 songs dedicated to his late father and given to the world on the five-year anniversary of his passing. \nThe album was named the No. 1 album of 2023 by Holler who called it “a record for the ages\,” and earned a spot as one of the best albums of the year from Whiskey Riff\, Wide Open Country and Rolling Stone. In 2024\, he made his network television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers\, followed by performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic series and Later…with Jools Holland. DESCRIPTION:Born in Albuquerque and raised in a family of Mexican regional musicians\, Alejandro Sanchez\, better known as Chezile\, has experienced a meteoric rise over the past few years. His 2023 psych-pop single ‘Beanie’ exploded on TikTok\, earning more than 1.6 million monthly listeners in under two months and transforming his life almost overnight. At the time\, Sanchez was living out of his car in Los Angeles; within weeks he was fielding calls from record labels and building a rapidly growing global fanbase. \nNow based in San Diego\, the multi-instrumentalist has continued to carve out a distinctive sound that blends dreamy\, reverberated guitar with a sentimental strain of indie rock. His music creates a hazy\, introspective world that has resonated deeply with listeners online and beyond. \nFollowing the melancholic introspection of his previous EP 47\, Chezile’s newer material turns inward in a different way\, drawing on childhood memories of skateboarding through the deserts of New Mexico and reflecting on how to stay grounded while navigating sudden success.
