DESCRIPTION:Common Ground: Ireland and the EU is a new multimedia exhibition exploring how Ireland’s membership of the European Union has shaped the country socially\, culturally and economically over the past few decades. The exhibition also looks at the impact Ireland has had across Europe\, telling stories of migration\, opportunity\, equality\, education and cultural exchange through immersive displays and personal stories. \n  \n\n\nIreland joined the European Economic Community (EEC) – as the EU was then known – on January 1\, 1973\, after a referendum endorsed by 83% of voters. It was then among the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in western Europe\, with a population just over half of its current size. \nIreland’s accession proved to be the most consequential economic milestone in the half century since Irish independence\, but it also set in motion far-reaching social and cultural change. EU legislation has driven improvements in workers’ rights\, for example\, and set binding targets for climate action. Irish people have studied and built new lives across Europe\, while many Europeans have since made their homes here in Ireland. \nAs Ireland assumes the EU presidency in 2026\, this new multimedia exhibition explores how a small island nation has extended its influence across Europe\, and how Europe\, in turn\, has profoundly shaped modern Ireland. \nFeatured Stories:\nEqual Pay \nStudying Abroad \nAn Ghaeilge \nEntry to this exhibition is included in general admission tickets.

DESCRIPTION:Explore the exhibitions of glittering gold and silver artefacts\, and the archaeological mysteries of Ireland’s national archaeological collection.Tours will discuss the stories of discovery of some of Ireland’s most famous objects\, such as the Coggalbeg Lunula\, Broighter Hoard and the ‘Tara’ Brooch and some of the less well-known gems\, such as the mysterious Corleck Head. \nTours are at 17:00 and 18:30 and 45 minutes duration. No booking is required and are on a free and first come\, first served basis. Meet in the Reception\, on the ground floor. Wheelchair accessible. As the sun sets\, the family must confront a series of crises\, from cyber-scams and drug debts to long-buried grievances about a mother who once walked away. \n“Why must the words vulnerable and old always go together?” \nOpening on 30 September\, with previews from 25 September. It runs till 1 November.  \n  \n  \nABOUT THE WRITER:\nERICA MURRAY \nErica is from County Limerick\, Ireland. She holds a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies from Trinity College Dublin and an MFA in Playwriting from The Lir Academy. While in college\, she wrote her first play called Bunk which won the Irish Student Drama Award for Best New Writing. She is a previous member of the Soho Theatre Young Writers Group\, Lyric New Playwright’s Programme and the Six in the Attic programme at Irish Theatre Institute. \nIn 2018\, her play; The Cat’s Mother\, toured to London\, Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe where it won the Fishamble Award for Best New Writing and was subsequently nominated for the Stewart Parker Trust Award. \nIn 2019\, she was the Channel 4 Writer-in-Residence at The Lyric Theatre in Belfast where her second play All Mod Cons premiered. The new play she wrote while on this residency won the Sonia Friedman Award. \nHer play The Loved Ones premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2023 in a co-production between Rough Magic and The Gate Theatre to critical acclaim. It was remounted in 2025 and went on an Irish national tour. \nIn 2024\, she wrote a play for young audiences for The Abbey Theatre called In Real Life which has been performed across many primary and secondary schools around Ireland. It is currently touring again this May.\nThe Loved Ones has been recently produced in Buffalo at the Irish Classical Theatre Company and is currently about to be produced at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York. \nErica currently has a residency at the National Theatre Studio in London.

Inspired by sci-fi authors like Ursula K. Le Guin and J.G. Ballard\, the songs explore how imagination bends reality\, how anxiety reshapes the world into surreal\, isolating landscapes. \nAlongside this inner turbulence came the constant noise of global conflict\, viewed through the prism of social media\, and the sense of a collapsing moral center. The surreal spectacle of war reduced to “content” deepened a feeling of unreality\, of civilization as mere facade. His vision of confusion as a valid form of entertainment became a guiding force: instead of resisting disorder\, the album embraces it. \nThe result is a work that oscillates between intimacy and disorientation\, rooted in the belief that there is no singular reality\, only fractured personal perspectives. “Take me back to nowhere” becomes both a plea for escape and an embrace of disorientation – a return to the void that precedes and outlasts us. Conceptual\, atmospheric\, and unsettling\, the album invites listeners into the depths of confusion.

DESCRIPTION:Max Cooper is an electronic composer\, multi-disciplinary artist\, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art. \nHe holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos. \nCooper has enquired for over 15 years through music\, collaborations\, and his label Mesh\, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations\, \nperformances\, immersive experiences\, online media\, music videos and live events. Anchored throughout is his emotive approach\, connecting how ideas and forms feel\, in a manner accessible to us all. \nAs an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture\, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10-year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he \nformed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club\, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations. \n“I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls\, museums and galleries is liberating – the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere.” \nCooper’s newest release\, On Being\, an exploration of the “desperate experience of being human”\, is his tenth studio album. Crafted over two years\, gathering thousands of anonymous quotes to use as creative fuel\, this is Cooper’s first attempt to use the experiences of his audience as inspiration for his music – rather than attempting to influence his audience’s experiences with his music. “I hadn’t realised the impact that other people’s words would have on me.” \nPivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition\, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious: \n“In both fields\, you’re in a sense\, free.
